Had 1 night booked as we were attending a wedding, didn't make it for breakfast !. Very helpful staff but the rooms a pretty basic although that met our needs for 1 night. We got the river taxi back to Budapest which was quicker & cheaper than road taxi !
This is the best possible place u could stay on DanubeFantastic breakfast spread and Good People at the reception..
Room was spacious, elegant, and comfortable. Continental breakfast offerings fit for royalty. A tad far from Budapest center, but this allows for a reprieve from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Nice atmosphere and good price 😉
I like the idea of the hotel on the boat, really impressive. I did not like the distance from the center but even more the behavior of some staff members who was at odds with the courtesy of some others.
A smile is free and lengthens your life!
Nice staff and rooms. Very good breakfast, clean and comfortable room
I read the reviews of this hotel and thought this would be a much nicer place than what we saw when we arrived. We were really surprised how far away from city center this hotel is (about 1 hour by public transport). Forget about taking taxi to return hotel at night - the cost is so high that it is much better to book something more expensive in city center. Aquamarina could look nice in photos. In real life, boat is ugly and old.
What is more, during short stay we have two unpleasant experiences. My girlfriend is due to health problems on strict gluten free diet - we have contacted Aquamarina before visit and asked if it is possible to eat something gluten-free on breakfast. The answer was "we have buffet breakfast, so your girlfriend can have something that doesn't contain gluten. We can also provide gluten-free bread." In fact there wasn't anything gluten-free. Is it that hard to inform that gluten-free meals are not provided?
Second experience was with left stuff. In a rush of leaving, I left a few things. I emailed to Aquamarina and asked if it is possible to send these items back to Poland. No response.
If you are looking for cheap, old hostel in periphery of Budapest, Aquamarina wouldn't be that bad. If you are looking for 4-star hotel, definitely look for something different.
Staff was rude, the towels dirty, housekeeping got in the room when the do not disturb sign was posted on the door knob.
The smoking was prohibited, so I smoked outside on the terrace, collected all the buds in a beer can and took it indoors. I had to pay a 30e fine.
The owner threatened me and my group, to kick us out of the hotel when we complained about the unannounced party that went on above our rooms. His argument for it was" this is my hotel, you can leave if you don't like it"
I would never go back, the quality of the service was way under the par.
It is not a 4 star hotel, it's more of a 1 star.
