Food is very salty, takes too long, sometimes the orders are wrong and is not worthed for the price. Last time we had food there I ordered a xbacon burger that took ages and when it finally came the bacon was super hard like old, the meat was also very hard and there was no cheese. When I asked for cheese the girl from the kitchen simply placed a cold slice of cheese on my bread
Great place with great people!
We stayed at the sister company Bay Island College of Diving on the same site. Service in the Utila Lodge restaurant is not good for customers not staying at the lodge - we were obviously treated as second rate customers. There is a pool table for customers, but the lodge staff made a fuss about giving us the balls every time (even when ''the guests" weren't eating). They were also not willing to lend a towel for half a day, as we were not "guests".
Great staff catering to divers and non-divers. Good diving. There's a possibility to see a whale shark here, too.
Amazing people and great place to learn to scuba.
I had the privilege of staying at the beautiful, Utila Lodge November 25 – December 2, 2017 with a group of friends. My first interactions with the resort was via email with marketing manager, Sean Mac. Being our travel agent took forever to respond to emails, I opted to direct my questions directly to the resort. Sean was always able to answer all the questions that came up over the weeks before we arrived.
Getting to Utila in its self is a unique experience, as Utila doesn’t have an international airport, so you enter the island via a small prop plane from Roatan or mainland Honduras. Once we arrived to the small landing field in Utila we were greeted by smiling faces, welcoming us to the island. And off we went to the resort on a very first of many tuk tuk rides for the week.
Upon arriving to the resort, we were welcomed by Marley, one of the resort managers to do our paperwork and make sure that our week at Utila Lodge was an amazing week. Marley and his staff at the resort were absolutely amazing, taking care of our every need and ensuring we never needed a thing. My birthday was on the 30th, and they even baked me the most delicious cake. That was a first at any resort.
We were also very fortunate we had Gabby as our DM. We had the best time diving with her over the week. She has an eye for finding the small stuff like small scorpion fish and nudibranchs. We did put in a request with her for a seahorse and a whale shark, but that didn’t happen And we can’t forget Captain Albert and his since of humor and stories about the island.
Overall, I would give the actual diving a 6 out of 10, but that is no fault to the lodge. We visited the island during the rainy season, so they’re wasn’t the life that I have seen on neighboring Roatan or in Bonaire in the warmer months.
However, the resort itself is what made the trip. As someone who plans and leads trips to numerous destinations in the Caribbean, I can honestly say, I have never been treated anywhere else the way I was at Utila Lodge. It is truly the gem of the Caribbean.
So, a couple of things you need to know when coming to the lodge.
• Leave your worries at home, they got you covered.
• You will fall in love with their coffee, and will bring a bag or two back.
• The resort is in the middle of town, but off the strip so it’s quiet, but an easy walk to fun places like bars, shops and offsite restaurants.
• They will feed you like your momma did. Don’t come here to lose weight. You won’t go hungry.
• Customer service and charm will make you come back again and again.
Thanks guys for making my 42nd Birthday one to remember. And Sean, thanks again for the escort to Dr. Johns. We have laughed so many times about that night since we got back.
We can’t wait to see all of you again soon.
Great facilities and staff. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Food was good as well!
You need to be the adventurous type to appreciate it. Everyone on the island is friendly. I will definitely visit again.
It's quiet, peaceful.
I have been to Utila Lodge twice and I can't wait to go back again! The lodge is nice set out over the water with rooms, dining area, dock area and the best bar to watch the beautiful sunsets of Utila. Queen Anne is a delight behind the bar. The diving there is extraordinary with the best dive master, Willie! All of the staff are welcoming and helpful; I feel like I have friends there. Bonus, I got to swim with a whale shark!! Thank you Utila Lodge.
We had a wonderful time! Amazing diving and very comfy rooms.
Spent my honeymoon here in 2013. I've been trying to get back ever since. Great dive operation!
I just spent two of the best weeks of my life in Utila, and a large part of that is due to the wonderful stay I had at Utila Lodge. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left, the staff went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed to enjoy my stay, and the atmosphere of friendliness they create there is second to none. As part of the all-inclusive package, we were served three family-style meals every day, and every one was fantastic. Some of my favorite moments on the trip were just hanging out in the bar with my friends, having some of Queenanne's rum punch, and enjoying a panoramic view of the ocean in front of us.
I'm not much of a gambler, but spend a week at the lodge and I'll bet you'll be doing what I did - begging Queenanne to burn my passport so I'd have to stay there forever!
Greatest place on earth! Watching the most amazing sunset right now from the Lodge bar and never want to leave! Beautiful spot, perfect diving, awesome staff!!
