Rude manager (german guy), very small private room (3x3) while when you book they say (15 m2.). The room is dirty and no space for your stuff. Very expensive for the poor service quality (30 USD per night). Don't go there, you have a lot of better and cheaper options in Flores.

Hot. Dirty. Very rude. Trying to more money out of you. Avoid to go. Other places much better in Flores.

Place is ok, better price than the other hotels and hostels. The wifi connection could improve a lot. The rooms are good (at least for me. I spent my time traveling around and just needed a place to take a bath and sleep). Oliver, the owner, is a cool guy.

We rented two of the hotel's most expensive rooms (private bathrooms, private balconies, A/C) for three nights. The beds were extremely comfortable, a much needed respite from our previous nights in Guatemala. The A/C worked well and gave us a nice reprieve from the jungle heat and humidity of Tikal. The food and drinks were delicious and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating.

So why only 3 stars? Mainly due to poor experiences with the owner, Oliver. We witnessed Oliver yelling at his (wonderful) staff on more than one occasion. Whenever we placed a food order with Oliver it took an hour or more to receive (with other staff members, service was quite speedy).

The icing on the cake? When Oliver came knocking on our doors at 9pm stating that it was time to settle our food bill. When we had checked in, we verified that it was okay to keep an open tab throughout our stay, to be paid upon departure, just as we had done with no problem at all of our other accommodations in Guatemala. The woman who checked us in said that wouldn't be a problem. If this was in fact a problem for Oliver, perhaps he could have come to us earlier in the day, or even the day before when the tab was opened, to discuss it. But, no. He waited until we were all in bed after having woken up early that morning for a long hot day in Tikal. We told him we would settle up in the morning before leaving. We decided to have breakfast elsewhere the following morning as we felt we had given more than enough money to this man.

Also, there was a no smoking sign clearly posted on the community balcony, but a couple of guests sat there and chain-smoked constantly. It made it an unpleasant place to relax or eat. And because the community balcony was directly below our private balconies, we couldn't even enjoy our our balconies because the smoke came right up to them. We also couldn't enjoy our own balconies because of the plethora of mouse droppings all over them. The rooms were very clean, but the balconies lacked attention.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Lacandon, but would not return or recommend the hotel to friends or family due to our uncomfortable experience with the owner and due to our inability to enjoy the balconies.

No bed bugs. Owner is very nice and hospitable. The food Ita also very delicious. Other guests complained about Wi-Fi being slow and construction workers next door, but they don't seem to understand that this is out of his control. Those guests are to accustomed to the 1st world life, this I is Guatemala!

Great located with a perfect view over the lake. We explore the lakeside by kayaks we could rent at the hotel, it was amazing. The rooms are basic but clean. The hospitality of Oliver and his family were great and he recommended us nice places to go and give us good advices.

Incredibly cheap, very comfortable beds, great terrace with lake view.

Hardly room to turn around in the dorms though - full to the rafters with beds. Lack of bathrooms can also lead to traffic.

For the price, very hard to beat.

Awesome view of the lake. 1st floor terrace is nice, with dance music. Food there is delicious. 2nd floor terrace is much quieter, with outlets for charging, seating, incredible view. I would maybe rate it 4 stars bc the rooms feel a little rundown, but for the price, $2 drinks, view, laundry service, etc -- what an amazing spot. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel has the best location of the lake and evening sunset view where the restaurant is facing the lake. Best room price, the food is excellent, all fresh ingredients.
