Lovely place to stay in Rio Dulce! A good mix of comfort and budget as the dorms were decently priced (and no bunkbeds, bonus!) The atmosphere is relaxed and peaceful, the owner recommended us a great tour to do during our stay and made us feel comfortable, and this is the only hostel I've ever been to with a jacuzzi! My only complaint is that the tÃpico breakfast is really lacking compared to the delicious mexican dinner we had here Thanks Kangaroo!
Great quiet hotel close to Rio Dulce.
Met their promoter when I got of the bus and he gave me a great deal on a bed in 8-man room, but they also have huts and private rooms. They took me their free w the boat and I got to see an amazing sunset.
The setting is really good and perfect for some quiet days by the river.
Possibilities to swim right from their terrace. Beautiful straw-building w a Mexican restaurant on the ground floor and a lounge w wifi(did not try but coffee was good).
Owners took great care of me and gave lots of good advice on what to do and so on.
Be aware of mosquitos! :)
Thank you guys!
The best margaritas on on the Rio and fantastic food
Quaint place. No road access as it is built in mangroves. Very helpful staff and really good food (amazing Mexican cuisine). Don't drink the tap water (nor brush your teeth with it) as it is unfiltered River water.
Spiderwebs all over the room and a single bathroom for 15 people with just one roll of toilet paper a day is far from ideal. Service is mediocre, but food is pretty good. The Australian owner, however, is an absolutely horribly arrogant smart-ass, who gives (often false) advice to anyone without being asked. This aggressively imposed arrogance is not only offensive to visitors, his in-your-face "I know everything about Guatemala and better than anybody else" attitude is also quite surprising, given that he doesn't speak a freaking word of Spanish. Oh and by the way try to refrain from having sex in your private room as this may result in you being publicly exposed and treated like an outlaw
Exquisite staff, beautiful location, tons to do in the area!
Great place! We stayed in the dormitory which was clean and cool!
The bathroom are really clean.
The food is great at good prices.
The surroundings are amazing.
Gary and his wife are really nice, they have plenty advices and suggestions for our journey!
You just have to like animals because cats and dogs are part of the family.
My kids loved this place and never wanted to leave. Greg is an excellent host and helped to arrange all of our excersions. The food was great too.
Great restaurant, Aussie burger is a must if your into burgers. Have stayed in a cabin here once and was very comfortable and much appreciated without mosquitos! They offer pickup and drop off from town and surrounding area by lancha.
Chilled out place on the water with great cabins, and very helpful owners. They'll pick you up from the dock at Rio Dulce, just arrive at the dock and ask.
Beautiful hotel, room price is reasonable but the restaurant price is high for me as a backpacker.
Epic place, epic owners. Full recommended
A very nice hostel, with a great atmosphere and beautiful location right on the river. However, there is no kitchen and the restaurant was quite expensive
Run by an Aussie and his Mexican wife, they have the best Mexican food in the Rio. If you call they will come pick you up in their launch. The restaurant is up a picturesque creek which make an interesting trip in.
