Myself and my partner stayed here last July for a week. The hotel was everything we could of wanted and more. The rooms were very luxurious, the resort was very well looked after and clean, the food was brilliant. We highly recommend the steak house we ate here 3 times in the week. Best steak ever!! The hotel is seconds away from the beach. The staff serve drinks on the beach which was lovely. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly. We had no issues with the concierge people in the hotel. Highly recommend the Saona island day out that was incredible. We thought the entertainment at night was okay but was nothing special. We had a welcome meeting when we arrived which was really helpful, advising of dangers and good day trips out. Highly recommend this hotel 10/10!!

Did not stay here but at the sister resort Memories. We had family that was staying here at the same time as us for a wedding. The grounds are more upscale and it seemed larger but may have just been more open. We saw lots of activities happening(water aerobics and foam party) and the beach is great. Food is also decent. I'd possibly go back here if we were heading to DR again.

We stayed here last year and I'll say, our family had a wonderful time. The food is not awesome but it's an all inclusive, right?! The staff were fun and the Diamond Club swim out room was great for our family. The kids (and us) loved being able to swim any time of day. We stayed for 6 nights but realistically, our family would have been fine with 5 nights. The ice cream and coffee all day was wonderful.

My family and I had gone here to celebrate my birthday for a week last year in March, and it was absolutely incredible. The airplane ride was approximately 4 hours from Ontario to Punta Cana, and a 30 minute drive from the bus to the resort. First thing when you get off is a blast of hot air rushing at your face with breathtaking scenery and hot weather!

When we had arrived, the view was amazing! There was a lobby that had a large balcony that faced the outside of the entire resort. Staff were friendly and welcoming! They offered us drinks when we had arrived.

Food was great! A lot of restaurants and buffets to choose from. There was a buffet with large variety and good quality foods for different times, and a great Asian-themed restaurant that had a Hibachi chef cook us some fried rice!

The beach was absolutely amazing! Blue water with soft sand, and pool parties were hosted. Pools were big, no complaint about that.

The excursion was great! We went to La Hacienda, a safari type of excursion with buggy riding, free fall 16 meters, a zip line that allowed you to see the views of the mountain and forestry, and looking at the rural community in the outskirts.

A great resort to have fun with family or friends! Would suggest going with family and a significant other. Expect lots of alcohol too.

Food good enough. No real complaints. The resort was nice and the service was absolutely top notch. The weird thing was that this resort didn't have much going on throughout the day. I was expecting more activities, but there didn't seem to be many activities at the main pool which is something I've grown accustomed to at these all inclusive resorts. The reason for only 3 stars is because the Casino wasn't open the entire time and although we were part of the diamond club we still weren't allowed in the "Hide away" section.which makes no sense at all.

Absolutely fantastic resort on a beautiful beach , great food and rooms but the best thing are the staff . Incredibly helpful, friendly and superb customer service, will definitely be back.
Jade restaurant, Hunter and the coffee bar were standout as was the service at the Diamond Club beach bar.
We stayed in a Diamond Club swim up room facing the beach.

Overall, not a bad experience. The property was beautiful. We received an upgrade to the Hideaway which was nice considering that we did not have any children. However, we did not experience any extra noise or inconvenience from the child-friendly areas of the resort.

The Food: was OK. You can't really expect much from buffets and the restaurants were average. I would have liked to have enjoyed more authentic foods from the region. Since I am not a fan of the Standard American Diet (they acronym spells SAD for a reason), I found most of the foods laden with salt and sugar, but I'm a bit of a food snob.

The Staff: was friendly and accommodating. They even were patient with my Spanglish (most were bilingual). Eduardo from the excursion booking desk was AMAZING.

The Spa: was small, but the massage was great. I was disappointed that there was no hot tub on the property, but I can understand why a Carribean resort may not want super hot water around (smile).

I would definitely return for the convenience alone. I am sure I could find an excursion that would accommodate my desire for authentic Dominican / Haitian food.

For the money, the trip was definitely worth it.

If you're down to pay $2000 to be sold timeshares for a week, this is your place! Food is medium, beaches are beautiful and it's a total racket.

We went on the catamaran exersion, they picked us up at 7am then proceeded to drive us around for 2.5hours picking people from each hotel before we made it to the boat.

Our baby got sick. The front desk said it was $150 to talk to the Dr. The doctor said it was $265 then told us to give her Tylenol every 15 minutes until she's quiet.. not even kidding.

It is beautiful thou and the coffee shop is really nice😎 the Royalton will be my last ever foray into the all-inclusive insanity.

First, I want to say that we went on vacation and had an amazing time. One day was spent pulled off of the beach and in a pretty hard- selling sales pitch for joining their travel club. We decided to do this to keep us on our once a year vacation plan, and now- a year and a half later-

I simply cannot get a vacation booked. I have spent the entire morning trying: I called the resort 12 times and 10 of the times I was hung up on (maybe accidentally?) but that is quite a lot, and the people who were so available and kind to us when we were buying the vacation club package for many thousands of dollars are simply unavailable to us now. They will "call us back later." Several days have gone by and as we are traveling with other folks and are causing them delay, we are unsure how to proceed.

There were several nice people who tried to help for a few minutes, but no one would actually help us book the trip. When we call the prescribed number, we wait for 30 minutes at a time with fun music playing but no one to help us. Online says we owe $700, which makes no sense because we have paid so many thousands of dollars and not been there sense.

I begged to speak to a general manager to no avail.

This resort is absolutely gorgeous. If you get a chance to simply visit, you should take full advantage of it. The interior is decorated exquisitely from top to bottom. Its like staying at a wealthy uncles mega mansion. The exterior is breathtaking. It doesn't feel like a resort, it's really an experience. Lastly, the view of the ocean is mesmerizing. The hotel has a stone tile path that leads to this unforgettable feast for your eyes. Stay here if you can!

My wife and I stayed for a week at the Royalton during the end of October. We loved the room, the pools, the beach, the food and the grounds. The staff was amazing, very attentive and friendly. We had such a great stay that we are planning another vacation at the Royalton next year.

landed on the island a day after Hurricane Maria and was originally scheduled for another resort that was closed when my party arrived. We were transferred to this resort and was happy to be here. staff was great , food was great, beach was great, drinks were great and there were Peacocks just wondering around the grounds which really made the place feel like Paradise. we stayed here a few days before leaving to go to our original booking. wish we could have stayed longer

Overall almost the perfect vacation. Upon arrival they said our room was double booked. They put us in an upgraded room at Memories for one night and for our troubles we were upgraded to diamond club for the week.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The beach, pools, dining, and rooms are are located close together. There are many activities to do during the day (volleyball, pool aerobics, dance lessons, Zumba, yoga, and others). In the evenings there is a different show each night and one night there was a beach dance party.
I did tip at each meal, at the bar, the cleaning staff, and waiters at the beach. The staff was very appreciative of the tips and would go out of their way to help you and make your stay enjoyable.
Be sure to make your reservations early for the sit down restaurants - they fill up quickly especially the steak house. Every meal was fabulous. The food at the buffets was average.

Had a very nice week stay here. The resort was well kept and had great beach access. A couple things I did not like; street vendors were allowed in one day and were extremely aggressive. I also did not care for the food selections in the restaurants. They did always offer good service, but I would much favor carribbean and seafood selections over the Americanized theme-style dining options (Greek Restaurant, Italian Restaurant, etc).

A wondrous experience; friendly, relaxing and blissful facilities. My first time at all inclusive resort it and it lived up to every expectation. I was part of large party and staff are very accommodating with our group even in the most impromptu of circumstances. Smiles from staff all round no matter what time of day, I would love to visit again.
The only minor critique, our air conditioning wasn't as cold as it could have been (having friends stay in other blocks, we definitely felt the difference between ours and theirs).
    Highly recommended resort!

It's nice, the staff is mainly friendly, the atmosphere is fun. If its the Memories Splash Package you are using BEWARE. Although there are many amenities with the aforementioned, the package credits are upgrade credits toward a full price, you will not cover the full price of "extras" with your package credits alone, half the lights in our room didn't work upon arrival (although they have "put in an order"), ensure that you book a shuttle to and from the airport it is NOT included

Summary: The modern Pirates of the Caribbean: Service 2/5, Food 3/5, Room 3/5, Pool and facilities 3/5
Stayed there for destination wedding so not our usual choice, but having been in DR before and Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras and Belize, my spouse and I have some experience with resorts. Arrived to find that the third adult in our room was not recorded on their records and despite the confirmation from our travel agent in writing about the booking for three, they wanted to charge us full rate for our daughter in the room. They did this same thing to another in our wedding party too! So beware. They prevailed because we had no choice and they knew it. Our travel agent we have used for years says this is just one reason they don't recommend this place, and if not for the wedding, they advised us in advance that this is not a good place. Then nobody came to make up the pullout couch despite going to the front desk again and asking the one guy who speaks English. Around 1am had to find a cart with clean sheets to do it myself. Also when the father of bride got the hair dressing bill, they had increased the charge per person $50 despite their own email detailing the cost per person. They would not honor their own email because they said they could not authenticate who sent it! Between the email and rooms we in our party called it the Royalton Switch where they quote one price and then charge you something different, and see if you are paying attention. On checkout they couldn't get their credit card charger to work while our ride to the airport was waiting so they wanted US dollars to pay off the remaining incidental charges. Then they did not want to give a receipt because they couldn't get the computer to work. We demanded at least a signed handwritten receipt but I will be checking my credit card to make sure I am not charged again. I could give you names, but what is the point, the management probably rewards these people for extracting as much as possible by whatever means possible. We won't be going back.
Service is poor because despite marketing to UK and US as their primary clientele, few speak English so communication misunderstandings are frequent.
The food was OK but certainly not great. Don't get a room on the third floor facing west because the air conditioning can't keep up with the afternoon sun. West is the direction you are facing when standing at the lobby desk when checking in. Use the safe in the room because reports of theft possibly from other guests so pull your door shut because it needs to click loudly or it is not closed. WiFi is slow and works in some rooms, and I couldn't figure out which. Leave $5 (about 250 DP) daily for the cleaning staff, and they were great. Bring plenty of $1 dollar bills for the waiters because tipping definitely gets better service when they are not busy studying cleavage.

Absolutely amazing hotel! Everything and more you could ask for on holiday! The hotel was beautiful, beaches were so clean with the most amazing clear blue sea. Food and drink was absolutely gorgeous and the staff were the friendliest staff! I went here for my birthday celebrations and it's a holiday I won't ever forget. Pure relaxation and I can't wait to go back. A special thanks to Elaine and Julio the hotel staff who made our holiday extra special by being so welcoming and always helping if we had questions about where to eat and what to do. I am so grateful to have found such a wonderful holiday destination.

Beautiful views and well thought out resort open space design sensibility. The professional and talented staff made our experience unforgettable. We especially enjoyed the variety of great food and the evening entertainment at the on site theater. Overall the resort provides great value for your money. Can't wait to go back and share with friends and family in the near future!

Generally my impressions from my stay at the Royalton Resort and Casino at Punta Cana are :
    1. The Resort has a great location, is clean well designed and well maintained.
    2. The food served at the Buffet (and in other locations of the Resort) is great, the variety of dishes that is serves is amazing and the waiters are nice, helpful and attentive. I truly regret that I can not mentioned the names of all those wonderful people who were offering us their kind smiles every day.
    3. The safety of the Resort area and the beach is appropriate - still this does not mean that the visitors should not exercise any basic commonsense or drink to much.
    4. The Resort staff (without exception) is kind, warm and helpful and fully deserves from the guests respect and at lest such minimal gesture of kindness like saying "gracias" or "buenos dias" .

So. if I will have a chance and resources to come back to this resort I will definitely do so. It fully deserves its 4.5 (or more) stars!

NOT 5 star food! Attended for a wedding and half our people, including myself/ my BF got sick. At buffet : proper tools not given for lobster/ crab - almost seems they trying to discourage you from eating it, also shrimps not cleaned properly, still have bowel string - gross! Not very accommodating to large groups, restaurants will only allow max reservation for 12 people. Marble sidewalks are extremely slippery - be careful!

    NOT SAFE!! ATTEMPTED RAPE!
Please do NOT even consider this resort for your vacation. Our entire family (18 of us) came here in Dec 2016. I was attacked by a male staff member inside the women's restroom on the resort. I will spare the details, but it was attempted rape. I was able to get him off and run out of the bathroom. I immediately reported the incident to security. They took a report, asked me if I was flirting with anyone (really!?) and were going to "investigate it" and get back to me. No escort to my room, no other help. A full miserable day and a half later, and conveniently one hour before I had to leave for the airport, they called and asked if I could meet in the lobby. They had video of me entering the restroom, running out, turning around and screaming at the suspect, and him running around the corner. I identified him with 100% certainty. Apparently he was still working on the resort! I was enraged! They stated they would handle it internally. I demanded he be fired. Could he be arrested? Is he able to hurt anyone else, etc. I was told they would handle it according to protocol (is this so normal, there's actually protocol for when your male staff attacks and molests a woman in a resort restroom!?). They asked if I wanted to call the police. I was so disgusted with how this was handled, and I was afraid of not being able to leave the country, and afraid for the rest of my family who was staying an additional week - I said no, I just wanted to go home and get away from this resort and keep my family safe. I didn't trust any of them.
Upon landing I reported this to Apple, who we booked our trip through. They declined any responsibility. I wrote an affidavit detailing the incident, asking for more action. The Royalton basically blamed me and offered $176 for one night as a good faith measure. So, attempt to rape a guest in a bathroom, brush me off, then think $176 will shut me up?? Not a chance.
I am grateful I am very strong and was able to keep a clear head and get away. I fear for anyone who isn't as able, is a younger gal, or honestly, anyone who comes to this resort.
You're not safe. You are at risk anytime you're alone. So are your children. Do not trust the staff, the security, or management. They sweep it all under the rug and try to shut you up and blame you. Read the other reviews. They try to blame the guests and blow you off. They did it to me, they'll do it to you. It's just not worth it.
