This hotel was beautiful. Some of its features are dated, and I think they're currently being renovated, but the service and nearness to the beautiful water is amazing. The room service food isn't tasty but the drinks are awesome.
Stay away from this place. Food was absolutely disgusting. They have only a few restaurants with limited menus and all entrees were similar. AC in our room was broken. Room had a nasty mold smell. Asked to transfer rooms and desk clerk said the AC was broken in entire resort. There was quick service food in sports bar. Raw hamburgers, hot dogs, and lunchable nacho chips. Everything had to heated in a microwave. I would strongly discourage not staying here
Very beautiful place with delicious food. Every restaurant had a great atmosphere and really nice people. As soon as we got in the door to check in there was a server walking around giving us welcoming drinks. The beach is relaxing and the ocean water seemed warmer than the pool. The swim up bar was awesome and the servers were pretty accommodating. I don't know how many times I ordered rounds of 20+ shots but I always eventually got them. There was a short period where they attempted to cut off our group but in the end we were still able to continue getting everything we asked for. They didn't have ginger ale so the server mixed Sprite and a little bit of a dark soda and it had basically the same taste. The entertainment people that hang out dancing around the pool and teach water aerobics were all very nice and fun. They were really good at getting people to join them and feel comfortable dancing. One of the people even brought us a little bucket of ice with a case of beer to fill it with. At lunch time one of our friends went to the buffet inside and asked for every single pizza they had and brought them all out to the pool for all of us to eat outside. Also, I'm not sure if it is a regular occurrence but on one of the days we had a beer drinking contest. For the contest someone brought over a little table and two chairs and would call out two people from the pool to sit at the table and see who could drink the beer faster. The neighboring resort had a giant bubble machine over the pool for people to play in, it looked like a lot of fun.
There was a few incidents that happened that were very shady and unsettling though. One of our friends hotel room was robbed, their money was stolen right out of their safe so they had to go file a police report. My brother-in-law had his and his wife's passports moved from one spot of their room to another. When I was in my room with the "do not disturb" sign on my door somebody started knocking and naturally I responded saying not to come in. I assume they knocked just to check and may have entered anyways had they not known anyone was inside. Also, I should have listened to the tips about not going on the beach after dark. A red t-shirt was trying to sell us weed. The person was so dark you couldn't see anything but their shirt and hear "weed - grass - what do you need" and when we got closer we could see him reaching his arm out and holding a brown paper bag It was definitely weird. That is when we turned around and started heading back. I couldn't help but notice this adorable mini palm tree so I went up to it and got a picture standing next to it. Moments later my foot felt like it was on fire and was instantly swelling up. I looked down and there were some type of bugs (fire ants?) crawling up my leg! I ran as fast as possible to the nearest pool to try to soothe the pain but it was burning uncontrollably. I recommend avoid going on the grass!
One day while I was on the beach trying to take a picture in front of the ocean some guy came up to me and took my camera out of my hand and sat an iguana on my head and started taking pictures. It was pretty cool but then he told me to give him $20! He was very consistent and kept saying "$10 a person". I told him I left my money in the hotel because I'm on the beach and don't need it seeing how it's an all-inclusive resort He continued asking but I just walked away. The iguanas nails were all ripped out probably for safety for us tourists but when I seen that I definitely wasn't giving him any money! Some of the people we were on vacation with said the same thing happened to them with a monkey and it had no teeth! Someone got bit by it and had a small circle on her hand from it's gums. First of all if they're going to ask for money from people to take pictures they should mention it BEFORE taking them! Instead of harassing people after the fact. Secondly the animals they are exploiting are being harmed for them to hustle people for money! That is not okay! Don't give any of them any money!
Wow! This place was amazing. Great staff. Great all around service. I highly recommend it to friends and family.
This was our first family vacation to an all inclusive. The kids had fun (11,15,18) at the pool, the beach, and the dancing at night. The biggest issue is the panhandlers. They do not take NO for an answer. I felt unsafe on the beach more than once. The food wasn't amazing either. The menus at the restaurants are very limited! They are doing some remodeling in the near future. The place is beautiful. I just wish we would have felt safer!
My cousin and I had needed a room at the last minute for one day on Jan. 26th after extending our stay. The staff were excellent, friendly and professional. After finding out we were celebrating our birthdays they surprised us with beautiful decorations in our room. They remembered to give us a wake up call when requested and called a taxi for us to take to the airport. We will definitely return and thank the staff for making us feel so welcome!
pięć gwiazdek .?! Nie mów mi. Stary hotel bez absolutnej aktualizacji. Tajikov we wsi, a następnie lepiej zrobić naprawy.
five stars .?! Do not tell me. Old hotel without an absolute upgrade. Tajikov in the village, and then better to do repairs. $ 250 per night for two for having prepared canned beer for dinner ..
Cinco estrellas .?! No me cuentes una historia. Hotel antiguo sin una modificación comunitaria. $ 250 por noche para dos, eso sería para la cena para recibir cerveza enlatada, con los servicios peor que en el café de la carretera ..
I've stayed at the Riu hotels before and this one here is by far the worst. The front desk was rude and not helpful. We had things go missing in our rooms. Unfortunately we were here during hurricane Maria and I have to say the hotel showed concern for our safety. However in the middle of the night while the storm was at it's roughest, we had someone come in to our room. Never identified himself nor did he apologize. When asked what he wanted, he ran. We called front desk to complain and they said it must have been security. We knew it wasn't. All staff seem to have a master key to all rooms because they seem to enter the rooms at will. The food was terrible, raw chicken, and very bland. The entertainment staff was great. The pools were just okay. At checkout we complained about everything and they accused us of being liars. Will never recommend this place. ever
We stayed here with a group of 7 people. In general, the hotel looks great, the rooms are a little outdated and the place constantly had power outages. Staff and service personnel are amazing and always helpful. The Food was average. Beach and pool area gorgeous. I would put 4 stars. But unfortunately, we happened to be here during hurricane Maria and we had our flight cancelled the day before the hurricane and we had to extend our stay for an for an extra 4 nights and we had to pay almost one thousand dollars 💵 for 1 room, 4 people for 4 nights. We felt like we were miss treated with the rate.
This hotel is old. Maybe renovated in 2016 but old. Furniture is plastic. Food looks good but bland. Service is good. Spa is ok..Beds uncomfortable and very few elevators and small ice maker for 100 rooms. Nice people. Pools are nice.
Food: Many varieties of food and very delicious. Good selections for vegetarians. 9/10
Beach: Beautiful, safe and clean beach 10/10
Room: Dirty, smells like mould, sticky floors, A/C doesn't work. Upon complaining the management shifted us to different room. 3/10
Service: People are friendly and service is quick. 8/10
The few Hotel reviews I read were correct, decor was a out dated not to clean. The food was nothing to write about, sad to say the best thing we had was room service Club Sandwich.
The buffet average, food presentation was great but taste was not there. After 10pm, there wasn't anything to do (shuts down), no music variety and the sports bar drinks but no food. Stay away from the casino only 6 machines they will give you free $10 but you have to put $10 with it.
Business center (in the sports bar) you have to pay $5 to use the computer.
If you like extra firm beds this is the place, our backs ache.
Ohh, make sure you shake your cloths we found a couple of bugs in are room, not cool. Our first International Resort stay not a good experience. I would not recommend this place.
We had an excellent stay the service was phenomenal. The only thing I would suggest is they need better pillows and sheets. They're old and you can tell unfortunately.
Great place to vacation. Friendly staff, good food and plenty of drinks. My 2nd time here and not my last. Pretty decent rooms. 24/7 Room service. Staff is very friendly. Waiters on the beach. No panhandlers to harass you which is a plus. No reservations needed for the restaurants which is also a plus. Sports bar has 3 pool tables, air hockey, casino and snacks such as chips, dip, burgers, and fruit salad. Great beach activities such as darts, ping pong, bag tossing, Valley ball, water balloon fights at the pool and many other fun things for the family. FYI if this is your 1st time go straight to your transportation desk don't get suckered into anything they try to offer you. The prices of any excursion is the same at your resort. Enjoy your vaction!
Just visited this hotel from June 18-23,2017. The grounds, pools, beach area are wonderful. However, the room had a weird order to it, that stayed with my clothes when I came back to US. The bed mattress was hard. Furniture is dated and needed to be dusted. The bathroom had rust on the ceilings and around the toilet. The food in the main dinning restaurant was not good. Chef(s) burnt several food items. The workers are nice. We had a group of 25 to travel. The front desk wasn't well prepared for our group. It was very unorganized and confusing. Some of my friends had to switch room 3 times because the toilet wouldn't flush, or bed bugs and roaches. I will not be back!
I would rate this higher if the room was better. The room is more humid than outside, even the papers absorb moisture out of the air. The room is so damp it smells and nothing dries unless you put it out on the balcony. Clothes that weren't worn and have only hung in the closet, come out damp. The only reason it's getting 2 stars is because of the staff and the other facilities. Staff were very nice. I would not recommend this place unless you enjoy damp clothes, floors, towels, paper, bedding, furniture, etc.
Great resort and great service no complaints
We are blue collar workers with this being the second year in a row returning to this same resort. The employees at Riu make you feel like celeberties ,waiting on you and your needs. We really felt like royalty at this beautiful resort with marble everywhere. The food this year blew away last year with the fine dining even better. Now no reservations needed but first come first serve. Please have class and dress in proper attire while dining there. Riu is a very clean resort that even has a women who cleans the bathrooms by the pool/outdoor restaurant that is so happy with her job that she is always singing. There is No spring break antics going on here. We found the rooms to be fine as there was marble everywhere and how much time do you really spend in your room? The beach is a good 45 minute walk one way that we did each morning. Walking the other way to the ocean front tourist stores was 25 minutes. In the evening you have the outdoor seating or go inside to what we called the Al Capone bar were Wilson will always make sure you don't have to wait long for a drink . Hope this helps Enjoy
I enjoyed my stay and the staff was incredible! The rooms were clean however there was mildew smell that concerned me but not all rooms smelled this way. Friends were on the zero level and their room smelled just fine but our room and another couples room in the second level had this mildew odor.
This hotel is very hit and miss. There are definitely better hotels in the area. The wait staff and bar tenders are friendly. Manager of the hotel is the worst manager I have ever encountered.
Great for family time, water, sand and in special winter warm weather. The food was good, service was great and the people very honest and friendly. My wife lost the room & safe keys, shortly thereafter someone brought it to reception all good, but we were scared for a little while. The rooms and overall place could use some updating, we were here years ago. The place looks great architecturally and the gardens, yards and the pools are one of the best around. Lots of green well maintained, nice to take pictures, walk around, gorgeous Long huge, probably more than a dozen settings with couches, seats and space for groups to hang around. Bars everywhere, all inclusive drinks and beverage as well as food round the clock. The room service people: hard working people for very little money but very happy to have a job. Left a couple of bucks daily, returned to the room to be impressed with the towel figures they came up with Look at the pictures, those are some of the many. Outside plenty of tables and chairs to eat and hang out .. Overall, greatness on budget, I was there before, now and will go again. Liviu
