I like la sirena because it has environmental educational information and the reusable bags are available as supposed to plastic bags. However they could encourage the use of reusable bags and improve on their vegan variety

Very helpful. It's open late and on weekends the bank's inside also have longer hours than the High highs street.,. good basic PC shop inside and Hardware section good selection of food at the upstairs restaurant but take your own sweeteners for coffee as they refuse to supply anything but sugar.. prices a bit higher than most of the competition particularly cheese but sometimes worth it with the long opening hours and Sundays till late. one bit of trivia the meat section refuses to sell bones for dogs so most of the expat that have dogs go to the smaller supermarket next door that listens to its customers strange they should lose so many people over something so small

If you are visiting the Puerto Plata/Sosua area La Sirena is the perfect stop to get stuff you would find at a Walmart in North America with an island flair. They have a supermarket side with local cheese, bread and pastries, frozen stuff, meat, cans, drinks, clothing and household goods. Prices are fair and marked so no "you pay more cuz you're a tourist". There must be 5 or 6 ATM's although I only use the one from Scotiabank inside. Small food court with a variety of food. You can pay with a Visa/MC card at the checkout as they have modern payment terminals which limits the possibility of credit card scams which are very common in the DR. Remember to never show your cash, don't walk around with your phone in hand and use common sense.

This is my favorite store to go to because of the many options of brands both Dominican and American! They have most of what you might want or need and have an awesome bakery with the best donuts!

One of the biggest multi-stores in Santo Domingo. You can find all rhums, native candies and souvenirs there.

Giving it five stars because they have the ice cream parlor "Valentino" and really helpful staff. You have a huge variety to choose from and good prices compared to Cabarete or Sosua.
