Not as good as the location in Riviera Maya, help at the front desk was horrendous room service is slow and poor. Certainly not the standard that I used to from the Grand Bahia Principe!! Only two memorable Meals one was grill house the other one was the Italian restaurant the Buffet was not impressive. 22 hours to get shampoo and a package of coffee for the room. Sorry to say I have had better desk service at holiday Inn!! And please don't ask about printing out our flight tickets to get home, what a pain in the a#%#% Just saying, hope you have better luck than I.
Just came back from the trip there; stayed at the Punta Cana side. The grounds are well maintained. The rooms are nice, but the bathrooms would love to see remodeled. Traveled with two kids who don't take mosquito bites well. Spent $20 on a bottle of OFF. It was a daily battle: we whack majority of them before going to bed, the cleaning crew opens the door wide open during cleaning and let a new squad in. The beach was maintained well, the waves brought a lot of sea weed on shore which was promptly cleaned up into piles to look appalling. In the morning, a large tractor hauled it out. Food was very good, however service you had to wait for, very long at times as the resort was overcrowded it seemed. This has nothing to do with the quality of service, just not enough of staff to provide it. Plenty of pool space, but if you want to have a shaded spot, get there early
Beautiful areas, good food, friendly staff, beach is beautiful and clean, when we went in May it wasn't over crowded. Be ready to be offered Bahia Principe Loyalty Program, it starts with a welcome package you choose but you must sit through a 60m presentation to get it. Then you'll be taken to a location to be shown what it entails. But otherwise it is a great place to vacation and we will go back.
Oh my goodness, what a beautiful place to spend a vacation.
This place is pure luxury for adults and children alike. I spent a week here with my parents, brother and sister in law and 2 little nieces. I was worried that it wouldn't be a relaxing place for a single adult, but I was wrong. I never felt out of place. The staff is friendly and caring and will do anything to make sure you are happy and comfortable. They will happily go out of their way to make sure you are completely happy.
The food was delicious and there was always something new at the buffet. The restaurants were top quality too.
When they claim they are a luxury resort, they are not joking. Spend some time here and you can see what I mean.
I will be trying Bahia Principe resorts again soon. Thank you!
This resort is okay overall, but it is definitely not what we expected. If you're planning on coming to Party, this is not the resort for you. The pool and pool bar closes at 6pm. There isn't much to choose from for night life at the resort. The food was okay, but not great and our room service orders were incorrect every time we ordered with not much to choose from. The staff was super super friendly and helpful though! It is a beautiful place to stay and the rooms were clean and up to date for the most part. We still had a great time, but were expecting a more up beat environment. I would recommend this resort if you're 40's and over or are going on vacation to relax. If you're going on vacation to party, look elsewhere.
This was a solid experience. The service was excellent. The only issue we had was the Italian restaurant, outside of that I would give service 5 stars.
The only issue was there were certain items included that we weren't made a aware of til we we're leaving. Example, we didn't meet our Butler til our last full day there.
Secondly, I got burnt out on the food. Be realistic though the kitchen is cooking for how many people so this is not something I hold against the resort.
Overall great experience and would highly recommend.
I went with a friend to this resort. It was an amazing trip! Definitely go for the royal golden upgrade it's worth it for room choice alone. The room looked the photos, absolutely no complaints. It's a large resort and takes a least 10-15 minute walk to go from lobby to beach, but they have carts that will take you where you want to go. The water was stunning and it was warm and sunny most days. We went in the end of February to the start of March. The theatre performances are okay but karaoke bar and disco are a lot of fun! It was a good trip and we would stay there again.
Excellent! Rooms were nice, cleaning staff excellent. Food fabulous. Pools clean, not hard to find a chair or clean towels. All staff very friendly and helpful. Close to beach and beach was beautiful. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend.
Amazing family trip. The food was beyond expectations. Way better than your average resort. Rooms were clean, staff was friendly and the beaches were just fantastic. The best Bahia resort weve been to so far. Next time I will come without our children its so romantic and beautiful.
This place was super nice and the people are very friendly. I loved all the food, a lot of food and a good variety. Those people want to please and the servers are very warm, once they know you as soon as you walk in the door they run churches around you to please. Very awesome vacation I'd go there again. My favorite thing was the room service ladies, they made all kinds of animal figurines out of towels
I had so much fun at this resort that I am going back. The sheer size of it made it enjoyable as you had to walk everywhere (trolley service was available) but it helped to walk off all the food you ate. The pool options were fantastic as their was different choices everyday. The beach was the best I have been to in Punta Cana as they had plenty of chairs. I did not get harassed to purchase items as often as I have at other resorts. The spa was clean and upscale. The lobby was great for lounging and ready books any time of the day. Best mimosas could be found in the lobby as well. !
Beautiful stay at the Bahia Principe Esmeralda. very clean YESSICA thank you. you did a fantastic job every day. MANOLO bar tender main lobby always with a smile great service thank you. OMAR waiter main restaurant very friendly and did a great job. Over all fantastic place to enjoy with the family.
Overall a beautiful country and beautiful people. It was well worth the price to experience it all. The resort was excellent - but it was difficult to communicate sometimes as a lot of staff don't speak English well.
The evening festivities started a bit too late and we seemed to miss out on them. But the lovely climate, atmosphere and accommodations were all well worth the trip. I would highly recommend it. Be sure to take at least one excursion to have more fun!
Resort was nice had plenty of room in the pools with swim up bars. Food was mostly bland but plenty of food to find.. staff for the most part were friendly ( not everyone speaks English) was warned over and over do no leave personal items out. One night we walked on beach and had someone trying to sell us drugs and was he was having a hard time taking no for an answer. Room service only cleaned room 1 time in 5 days ( made bed everyday) we had to ask for fresh towels. Power went out for about 30 mins and other guest said that happens all the time.
Beautiful location, beautiful hotel and wonderful staff. I couldn't fault anything about this hotel. The pool are really nice and they have pool bars. Hotel rooms are in little villas and they are really nice. I went as part of a wedding party and they really offered a good wedding service. I would highly recommend staying at this hotel
Beautiful resort, delicious food, the beach is amazing! We had a few inconveniences (1.5 hour check in, lack of towels for the pool)but they were resolve. Our housekeeper Rosa was very sweet and went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Italian restaurant was AMAZING. There is food and drinks available all day long. I disagree with reviews about staff being rude. I feel like language barrier might be misinterpreted. If you go to another country have the courtesy of learning a bit of the language and culture. Don't expect them to be fluent in your language.
Everything about the resort nothing less then excellent, my first time to the Caribbean and was blessed with the Grand Bahia Principe.
I've recommend it to a lot of individuals, note it's best to go with friends as a group,
you'll all enjoy it.
The staff is courteous and quick to help you out with any needs you may have. The Resort grounds are manicured, clean, and well maintained to a level of Excellence. It's what I, and my friends also observed.
Excursions are available in the resorts office we did the dune buggy ride to the one cave on the island. You drive the dune buggy yourself but are supervised by the excursion staff. Again I highly recommend this location to anyone who wants to try it I don't think you'll be disappointed.
Also best times to go are from February to the last week in April the rainy season start in May, monsoons from what I'm told :-)
Hope my assessment of the resort is helpful if your planning a trip to Punta Cana and the Grand Bahia Principe.
Respectfully Arni Shook
The grounds were beautiful, the drinks were great and the food was exceptional. Completely amazed with all the different food they offered. There was a slight English barrier since Spanish is their language but was able to get by with no problems; used Google translate when needed. For the most part, the main people such as the front desk attendants, bartenders and waitresses knew English pretty good. I would recommend this place for a family and a couple.
Terrific hotel. great rooms, good food in unlimited quantities both in the main restaurant and in the various themed restaurants around the site. Good bar service, great beach (a bit crowded but not too much) and good all round facilities. Shopping on site expensive. Staff service is good - our room was flooded late one night when the toilet in the room above broke (!); we were moved to another room immediately with no hassle and given gifts the next day in apology. It's not a place for lots of activities although there are some water sports on the beach, volleyball etc and some entertainment in the theatre. A place for a pampering, relaxing holiday. Will we go back? Yes!
Great food, loads to do. This place is massive, took me 30 minutes to walk from crazy golf at one end to beach at the other (don't worry there is courtesy transport running all the time if you want it). 4 huge pools inc 1 for the kids. sea is turquoise blue and sand is white. It's a tropical paradise. Only issue is beach is ram packed solid. Never had problem getting sun beds at pools though.
Can't get a hold of anyone
I called prior to the time I was supposed to leave for my four day trip to Punta Cana and was trying my best to do EVERYTHING I could to make my trip. Sadly, due to the inclement weather, I could not fly out of Boston. They were only able to get me out on Sunday (checked all airlines)-- this was the day we were to return from Punta Cana. While I tried to reach the hotel in order to see what my options were since I was going with a group and they were able to get there since they were flying out of Chicago, the hotel refused to call back prior to them leaving and then when they got there went through with the reservation without hesitation (this was a grouped deal) and allowed them to take the room without providing other options, then told me there is no refund because they took the room. So not only did I not get to go on my trip due to INCLEMENT WEATHER, I also was not able to get a refund for anything! To this day, about a month since my trip has passed, I still cannot get a hold of anyone at the hotel. I am just passed along with a promise that someone will get back to me. If there is ANY chance that you will not be able to make your trip (including due to weather), do NOT book at this hotel because you will pay for it regardless and no one will get back to you for anything. Avoid this hotel!
Mixed feelings about my stay. The hotel, the room and the grounds were all clean. The staff was helpful and friendly. However, the food was terrible. The Grand Bahia is the Parent hotel and the Principe is one of the numerous hotels within the Grand Bahia resort. The other hotel properties looked much nicer than the Principe. Be sure to do your research.
I've been to 3 resorts in the Dominican Republic, and this is my favorite so far. The resort is huge, and has many resorts on either side that are almost identical. The service was always excellent, the food is fantastic, the drinks might be a little watered down but they are good enough. The pools are very clean, very refreshing, although it would be nice if there was a little more shade in them. The beach is fenominal, (almost) white sand, shade and chairs, music, a bar nearby, and the water is very nice. I would recommend this resort to everyone, (but if you don't like kids you could go to it's neighbor which is adult only) and I hope to come again someday.
If anyone is looking for a great deal on hotels you can check it out on HotelRaven. com Booked a room on there and they had the cheapest rates around
Amazing resort. The staff were wonderful and friendly. Food was terrific with something for everyone at every meal option.
Games and shows for kids were great.
The fact that they had a water park was what originally sold us.
It looks like an adult resort but geared towards families.
Rooms were spacious and could accommodate a family of six easily.
A fit e minute walk to the beach, which was pristine and cleaned several times a day.
I would recommend this resort to anyone with children or without. You have access to all five of the other resorts so there are endless options
