I like wandering around this particular Ikea store even more than the other two Ikea stores on the outskirts of hamburg.
You won't find many bargains , well not bargains like one used to be able to find in Ikea decades ago but there is high quality furniture and utensils to be found here.
There are only two cash desks, so if you are not prepared to wait for ages and ages to pay for what you intend to buy have your credit card ready and use the self service checkout or come shopping when Ikea is less busy.
The restaurant may not be that expensive but I think other places nearby offer a much much better meals for your money.
Best place for furniture and for Ikea member (free membership) free coffee and various other facilities
Practical that it is right in the center, although thus also means that it is super crowded. Nice also that they offer many options for transportation of what one buys (standard Ikea vans, "sofa taxi" starting from 33euro for trips of less than 5 km, bikes with huge box in front of them for free).
However the info from the staff are fare from precise, for example:
1. I ordered some stuff and they told me it was arriving on a certain day, and when I arrived there nothing had arrived yet. This happened 3 times in a row, and it is not pleasant to go to Ikea for nothing;
2. They told me it would have been open on a holiday, and when I arrived instead it was closed (again, I went to Ikea for nothing);
3. At the counter they told me that with the taxi sofa the driver helps in bringing the staff up for free if it takes less than 10 minutes, and when the taxi arrived the driver told me that this service was free only if there are no stairs. At that point I had no other option, and I felt bad for the driver.
4. They told me that the taxi sofa accepts cards, without specifying that it accepts only the German ec cards and no other ones (not even debit cards). Luckily by this time I had started to not believe what they say and I had withdrawn money from an ATM.
A nice urban furniture mall at the suburban region of Hamburg. A nice place to have affordable cup of coffee at the price of one Euro as well as food at a reasonable price.
The layout is not as clear as in bigger IKEAs. Their stock is smaller as well, many items were sold out. Staff are friendly and competent though. Parking is good.
Easy to reach via S-bahn, very nice and surprisingly big inside! They even have a shopping cart lift!
I like this place. It makes you feel like you want to buy more stuff and it gives you a lot of creative ideas on how to design your house. They have a restaurant for you to have something to eat and it's very clean as well. They have hotdogs as a quick snack to eat as well. It became tradition if I go there to get one. Service is great and the staff is very friendly.
This a different Ikea concept store which is optimized for the smaller space in the city. It's a little weird because you work your way up through four different floors and you won't find the smaller items on the last warehouse floor. So grab them when you see them they won't come around again.
The restaurant is a lot nicer than in other Ikea stores. They also offer lunch specials but it's crowded a lot of times.
Typical IKEA, never disappoints. Great area to get a lot of other shopping done too!
This IKEA is unlike any other - all products are sorted by room (living room, kitchen, bedroom etc) so you can pick up what you need right after the exhibition part. So much better than going to another floor to find the stuff you've liked in the exhibit!
