We stayed at the Royal Service part of this hotel. Absolutely fabulous. Loved it! Great personalised service, from whatever individual drinks we wanted in our room to having ice and slices of lime in our room each day on our return from the beach. Great little resort, beaches are lovely, superb snorkeling, Royal Service has its own little beach where the waiter will serve you with whatever drinks / cocktails you wish. We both loved the food, the lobster and the garlic prawns at the RS Restaurant were to die for! We also ate in the 'normal' resort restaurant and loved the food. The resort grounds are just beautiful, very well maintained; we spent many an evening just wandering around the grounds. Would definitely recommend staying here and in Royal Service if you can afford it, you won't be disappointed!

Nice room, food was surprising good for Cuba. Beach was clean and safe. Snorkelling off the beach is an added luxury. You don't need to take a catamaran excursion since the other hotels send their excursions to anchor off the beach . Service at the bar is spotty and you have to try different bars to find one that makes the drink correctly. Be prepared to wait for your drink. A tip is to order two at a time and when you are finished one then start heading to the bar. Grounds are well maintained and clean. Entertainment was so-so, but a wide variety over the week. Something for everyone. Spa was phenomenal. Highly recommend the couples massage

Just got home from an amazing trip. Staff was fabulous and very friendly. There are lots of activities to do or just relax by the beautiful ocean. Snorkel right from the beach and enjoy an evening show. I will be returning next year.

It’s been five years since we last visited Paradisus de Oro Cuba, and we were not disappointed. Everything was as we remembered other than all the upgrades including the bathroom. Very well done. The food was exceptional and the staff so attentive. Many of the staff were the same and remembered us. How nice is that. We had been there three times before this last trip.
We had the most amazing time with our friend Diane who had also visited with us there once prior. All of us will make another trip next year. I can’t recommend this resort more. Having spent 48 years in the airline industry, I can clearly state they know customer service and are very attentive. Congratulations to the managment and staff for the high standards and cleanliness we experienced. Outstanding!

Very good! It needs some minor refurbishment of the furniture, but it is by far the best hotel of this part of the island. Brilliant food, service and location for relaxing holidays.

Second time there. Room was clean, housekeeping did a wonderful job. The bean soup at the Cuban a la carte was out of this world. The buffet has gone down from the first time we visited, but still good. The smoked salmon was out of this world. From the wait staff to the guys that refilled the fridge and water, I don't have a bad thing to say about anyone there. Definitely will be back. Also, took a tour of the Royal Service side, and definitely want to go there.

Here you go, real pictures of this location. Electric wires all over the place. Be super careful on the beach as there are many objects coming out of the sand. Pay attention to all the pictures as you’ll see be able to see that the place hasn’t been maintained in many many years so mold, missing paint, dirty. We could’t even book a diner in a restaurant, the guy that does the reservation gave us an option of 1 restaurantthe evening before we left which was 6 days later!! The pasta and omelette ladies were nice, pretty much the only 2 that smiled. Couldn’t even get a smile from any staff members at the main bar in the lobby, and yes we gave tips to everybody the whole week so wasn’t about the money. I think they gave up and staff has been there way too long and just don’t care, they take customers for granted. Any how, could go on but just to finish, I’m not sure why this location has such a rating. Please, do NOT GO THERE! Over 100 REAL pictures of negative things to say, tell me this place is worth more than a 1

We've been here before, but this was the first time we took advantage of the garden villa. If you are on a #honeymoon, a special anniversary ( as we were) or just desire that "extra" in your vacay I'd highly suggest the garden villas at PRDO. There are only 2, you have a private pool, hot tub, gorgeous enclosed compound and exceptional staff. Rolando , Junior, Iris and Juan were beyond compare! If you can manage it, its definitely worth the upgrade.

Stayed at the Royal Service side, and it was real treat. Very personal service, with staff remembering your name and room number.

Food at the RS side was excellent, and changed daily. Themed restaurants on the regular side were very good. The Japanese show was fun.

There were less than 100 guests when we stayed there in November, so we got to know most of them. It was fun to see returning groups connect with staff and other guests that they'd gotten to know in previous years.

Our butler booked an excellent guide with a 1940's vintage convertible who took us to Holguin and showed us around. Well worth the CUC$90.

Snorkeled and sailed, but couldn't fit in the free SCUBA.

Internet is flakey, but we were assured that it is as good as anywhere in Cuba.

Paradisus Rio de Oro is an exceptional resort that is a solid 4.5 stars. The room exceeded my expectations and it was gigantic & roomy. Trust me, the pictures don't do it justice and your room is huge. The check in process was simple and easy and we were led to the buffet quickly as it was closing at 10pm. We all then got escorted by cart to our hotel room and was given a quick tour. You get a fully stocked mini fridge that is replenished daily, full room service (wine, rum & food included), with full maid service. Make sure you tip these lovely ladies because you'll have the same maid for the whole week!

The resort is gigantic but not big enough for you to tire you out. They have decent A la cartes but the Japanese restaurant with the live cooking is by far the best. The Mediterranean restaurant is alright as well but the rest are a bit passable. The beach is beautiful and clear but it is rocky so watch out! You have some cool activities on the beach such as kayaking and paddle-boating (waiver of course).

Now here comes the major con that brought this whole resort experience down. It's like a retirement resort! The energy was surprisingly really low, no music, no cool activities aside from the physical ones. Very low population on the resort, and sometimes if you stay quiet long enough you can hear your own heart beat. Just watch out for this when you come and don't be surprised if you read this! Overall, this resort is amazing but definitely needs some energy.

Went for our hoonymoom in September. This place is amazing the staff could not do enough for you. The good was amazing. The pool is really big and the beach was beautiful. I would recommend this to anyone. We did a couple of the trips and was not disappointed.

A repeat client, and looking to return. I concur with many who say this is one of the top all-inclusive resorts in Cuba. Clientele are typically on the mature side such that I would suggest those in their 20's and 30's may wish to consider better suited alternatives. Typical for Cuba, internet access is limited.

Absolutely superb hotel, which is considered to be the best on the island of Cuba and it is no surprise to me why it is regarded in this way. the hotel is located on an incredibly picturesque part of the Cuban coastline. We upgraded our room on arrival and had a large bungalow that overlooked the sea which even had an outdoor shower.

Food is excellent and it is possible to book several of the optional restaurants (Cuban, Mediterranean, Japanese, etc.) during you stay (no extra cost). Take a trip up to the Royal Service restaurant one evening. It is a cost extra, but the service and food are simply first class.

The grounds are beautiful, expansive and always well tended. The beach is the stuff of holiday brochures, but without any photoshop needed.

The mood of the hotel is relaxed, albeit the staff are always on hand to serve and assist. Nothing is too much trouble, even breakfast brought to the room at 5am before heading off to Havana trip.

If there was something I could fault then it would be the Internet connection. This is not the fault of the hotel, but the state owned system. It was difficult keeping track on my office, but we managed just about, especially with a Cuba Libre cocktail in one hand.

On the plus side the staff were excellent, rooms were nice somewhat bigger than many hotels. The pool was nice with a swim up bar. The beach was good with some shade although a bit restricted because of a line of rocks just as you get into the water. Once you are beyond those it's fine. Great for snorkeling.
The downside is that much of the buffet food left out had flies on it. There is also a problem with birds in the dining room often pecking at bread rolls and the like. Both myself and my wife had minor tummy bugs something we rarely do. Wouldn't go back.

Great trip. Just got back from a week at this resort. Food was great. Service was top-notch. Cuban staff were exceptional in most cases. One drawback is the resort is a long (1 hr) and sometimes bumpy bus ride from the airport - but that has nothing to do with the resort itself.

I really loved this place. First time in Cuba but contrary to rumors, food was excellent. Nice lay out, beautiful beach and great attention from staff. Will return if I can afford it.

A great Resort with an amazing staff! The food was excellent as was our Luxury Junior Suite. A very relaxing vacation. We will keep returning!! We were there during the 9 days of mourning for Fidel and the manager did an excellent job of providing low key evening entertainment with very talented singers and musicians

This was one of the best vacations I've ever had, and by far the best hotel I've visited in the Caribbean. The resort itself was great, and the staff was friendly and accommodating. I even had an opportunity to meet the general manager, and he was incredibly helpful and made us feel right at home.
