I spent 3 weeks at this hotel and although my overall experience was positive, there are things that need major improvement.
    1. Garbage, cigarette butts and lots (I mean LOTS) of broken glass on the beach.
    2. Garbage everywhere in the area surrounding the hotel. It’s quite repulsive to see all the garbage (not just a random wrapper floating by but piles of garbage) while going on the walk.
    3. Flies in the cafeteria (tons of them). The flies land on the food and tourists end up picking out the flies from the food before eating it.
    4. Overwhelming majority of the visitors were locals (Cuban girlfriend/boyfriend families, visitor’s families, militarily families (on the beach). Although there is nothing wrong with having lots of locals in the hotel, but I didn’t enjoy cleaning up the area after them, after they leave (so I can sit down on the chair and enjoy the pool or the beach). There are many garbage cans on the property but they don’t seem to notice them.
    5. Staff chasing after the tourists trying to establish more than “just friends” type of relationship. If I am alone, it doesn’t mean I am looking for someone!
These are things I was bothered by very much and could do without, while vacationing in Don Lino.

The management and staff are attentive and try to accommodate your needs the best they can. Overall the hotel rooms are kept clean. The property is compact and easy to navigate. The beach is not for swimming (due to waves and very rocky entrance into the water) but the breeze is very pleasant. No sand flies and rarely a mosquito, due to constant breeze from the ocean. The food is not bad for a 2 star hotel but it is repetitive. Playa Blanca is nice with beautiful sunsets but the garbage (when locals leave the beach), messes up the experience.
Basically, I wanted to get away from the long winter and I did,for 3 weeks, but for me to come back to Don Lino I would have to see all the garbage gone from the beach and someone cleaning after the locals.

P.S. be very careful at the pool after the lifeguards are gone, locals bring glassware from cafeteria and drink rum in the pool, as well as play volleyball and dance. Watch out for the broken glass in the pool and around it!

We were there for two weeks and the food was excellent. There are a few improvements that could be made such as washrooms and maybe fixing a few items in the resort rooms. Things like saves and air conditioning. Otherwise the food was great as I said and were it not for the very windy conditions for the two weeks would have been really really great. But still, no complaints. Been through worse. Would like to thank Yula for being the best bartender we ever had. She made our experience they're worthwhile. People were very very nice. Plan on going back.

Great spot for an inexpensive and low key vacation. Lots of friendly staff and regulars. Food wasn't the best but was decent. Great way to experience Rural Cuba and some beautiful local beaches and spots.

A 2.5 star resort, quiet and beautiful. Loved my stay and the employees were attentive and friendly. I also enjoyed the food. A must stay just remember it's rating and the cheaper price.

My daughter and mom stayed at this resort and they had the best of their lives. We love to travel and getting their feedback from this resort is so sweet to hear. The food was off the hook and we are Peruvians so we know about food! They people from the resort and the locals were marvolous. I will be travelling there in 2 months so i can't wait.

I don't even know where to start with this place. When we booked the trip we knew what we were getting into as we have traveled to Cuba multiple times a year. But we wanted to save a few bucks and you get what you pay for.

The rooms are ok, the food was the same everyday ( breakfast, lunch and dinner ). now mind you this is a small resort and in a small town where everyone knows each other. There are many repeat Canadians here and they are all retirees! We were the youngest in the resort and I am 37.

The biggest disappointment and very unsettling in my mind is when me and my wife witnessed a staff Ruben Alvarez attacked and punched a young Canadian in the head in front of the security guard who did get in between the two but told the Canadian that this is his problem and to take it off the resort. that blew my mind. When the Canadian man went to the front desk and asked the front desk service to call the police he was told they will in a bout 30 minutes, unreal.

The whole incident started because the Canadian man had asked Ruben Alvarez for his service and Ruben had charged the Canadian man 90 CUC overcharged. And when the Canadian man asked for the receipt Ruben refused to give him one. The best part was the next day when I spoke to the Canadian man if anything has been done as far as the staff attacking him he said no one has come to him about it. no managers or even his rep from the airline.

This whole trip made me really think how safe are we really when we go to places like this. Mind you we have been in Cuba many times and we always stayed at a bigger resort and we fell in love with how nice the people are, but this time we had a different thought.

I hope this helps. We do intend to come back to Cuba but definitely not at this resort!

Staff was very friendly, and although I didn't get the room I was supposed to, I really enjoyed the one I ended up with, more than the ocean view bungalows. It was really windy, and the waves were huge, and the beach was rocky, making it nearly impossible to swim . But it was so beautiful, the sand is lovely and there are many beautiful shells to collect. A family of dogs live by the beach, they are so sweet, shy mainly, they won't bother you. I gave them some food when I could. Don Lino was lacking a bit in activities during my stay, but they day before I left they reopened the restaurant and the activities started up again. Overall, as my first time in Cuba, Don Lino was very comfortable, relaxing, friendly, and just beautiful. If you want to go to this resort, you can't expect it to be like one of those touristy hotels in Varadero. Don Lino is different, from what I've been told, but a good different. It truly is your home away from home.

It's OK. Perhaps a little rundown. Can be very inexpensive if you search for it A mix of old and newish buildings.

BEDBUGS! If that isn't enough to put you off, how about mice and the occasional rat in your room? or no water for 3 day's straight, non-flushing toilets, no toilet seat, no A/C, long power outages, non-working bar fridges (if you even get one). These are my experiences and those of many fellow Canadians during our 14-day vacation to hell from March 15-29, 2016. The food was limited, dry and boring. The a-la-cart was buffet food that was served to your table. Breakfast was great and lunch was often a preview of supper. The OUTDOOR wildlife was awesome - horses, dogs, cats, pigs, lizards, frogs, toads and lots of birds. The staff was the only positive part of this resort. For $800/week/person, I was so disappointed! For $1000/week/person, we could have stayed at a 4* (Gran Ventana) which is lovely. Live and Learn, I guess!!!
