It was a Hotel managed by Hilton so it shares the magnificent and glamorousus atmosphere. Now it's managed by Tryp shared by Cuban government so employees are selected by the Cuban share and not all of them are polite and nice.
It's expensive but you will be hosted at the core of busiest part of Havana City, Vedado area, where you can find people and places 24 hours like any other city such as NY or Madrid.
Waking from hotel, you can go to Banks, Western Union agents, ATMs, Restaurants, Wi-Fi places, car rental, notary, hospitals and more.
If you want to go farther transport options are good. Shared taxis from 50 Euro cent or bus service from 5 Euro cent. (Prices are in Euro but there you must use local currency).

A hotel where the famous have stayed. Batista, Al Capone, Castro, Frank Sinatra. But I bet the hot water worked then it doesn't now.

Much needed restoration work was being done while we were staying here. Food was good, pool was decent.

Nice hotel. Clean rooms. Location a bit far away from Old Havana and downtown. Good breakfast buffet.

The food is a little better than what you'll get everywhere else, and the history of the place is great. Like most other things i Havana it has known better days. Nice large rooms with a great view over the city.

A reminiscence of Cuban luxurious past. It's beautiful, clean, great location, a little bit pricey though

The hotel has a good location, but the rooms need refurbishment for a 4 star hotel

Service in restaurant was good, but choices were limited. I had an American breakfast consisting of ham omlete ,2 slices of white bread , a croissant , fries, jam ,butter and coffee with milk and sugar ,lastly juice de papaya .my waitress spoke a little English

I absolutely loved my stay here; it is filled with the crazy juxtapositions that Cuba is so famous for. Glimpses of past decadence sit squarely next to local poverty and great Cuban charm.

The hotel has some lovely original features from the 1950s.

Old, worn down and just old. And not in the good Havanna way. Can't turn of the airco in room. Beds are so hard your whole body hurts in the morning. Getting down from your room too the lobby takes a long time in very scary old elevators. But the worst thing is the amount of baby-boomers. The hotel is just packed with them.

Good spot to get wifi if you are traveling. They have a great casa del habanos, perfect for relaxing with a cigar and cup of coffee.

One of the better places to buy real, quality, Cuban Cigars. Staff really know their stock and have many varieties at different price points

I had a fun time in Havana and there's a lot of potential in this hotel, however, the maintenance of this building is just absolutely terrible. There was such severe water damage on our floor that the surrounding mold was growing mushrooms. Needless to say, the halls smell terrible. The room was not that much better. Cracked tiles, broken shower head and handle bar, broken patio door handle, etc Everthing was dirty. Elevators are so old and VERY sketchy. They will just fall some odd stories unexpectedly and then reset and you'll have to push the button for your floor again and pray it goes there. Aside from the concierge, service is not good. Although, during our whole vacation, we picked up on the fact that customer service is not necessarily a Cuban strong point. The wifi works great and the liquor store just outside the building carries big waters for cheap. There is always a cab readily available and the Habana Bus Tour has a stop just outside. Besides those things, I would say it's not worth the view, go somewhere else.

Beautiful lobby. Came here just to purchase minutes to access their wifi connection. Keep in mind that if you don't have an access card you may be out of luck when needing to use their washroom in the lobby.

Run down hotel, must have been great in the 80's. Large rooms but old and rusty. Definitely not worth 300€ per night. The views from the top however are impressive.

Like much of Havana, time stopped in 1959. I haven't stayed in this hotel, but walk through the lobby and public rooms. You can practically smell the cigar smoke. Great architecture that hasn't been "improved" greatly. Check it out

We had a great stay, I would recommend staying on the upper floors called the Panorama levels. The views are spectacular! The room was very large and comfortable. Service was a little off at times considering the price of the hotel but overall everyone is friendly and helpful.
