This is probably one of the nicest hotels in Havana. For local standards extremely expensive and for us tourist it’s also not what we would describe as affordable. But nonetheless it’s worth it. Because of the whole 50’s atmosphere inside, the perfect location in Havana centre and the beautiful view from the rooftop bar and swimming pool. And boy do you have a great view upon Havana and the Capitol. Just stunning.

The first day we arrived in Cuba myself and three friends (all Americans )visited this place. They where most welcoming . We walked the halls, had drinks, the pool, every one was very friendly., 5 days later i go back with a Cuban couple i met while in Cuba.They wouldn't let us in ,the guy ask if i was a guest at the hotel ,when i said no , he reply guest only. I so wanted my Cuban friends to see the rooftop pool and have a drink. They didn't let me in cuss of my Cuban friends. I will never visit that Hotel again. I feel they belittle my friends.So screw them.

I want to tell you another story that can be of use to someone on a trip to Havana.
Daughter chose Hotel Saratoga. For 5 nights cost around three thousand dollars.
When we arrived at the Hotel, we did not like the rooms because of the terrible smell and the lack of opening windows to the street. One window on the inner mezzanine.
We were offered to improve the conditions and pay an additional one thousand dollars and get rooms with balconies, a beautiful view and breakfast.
During the entire stay, the dust behind the cupboard (it is pushed off the wall) and on the wall lights was every day. I doubt they washed the floor.
The balconies were dirty, there were always pieces of plaster on the floor not once the balcony was cleaned. The plaster is constantly falling from the facades.
In mezzanine on chairs and armchairs, legs of tables, dust everywhere, incomprehensible spots on the walls and never cleaned Probably this is a historical valuable dust.
We lived in room 309, and our daughter lived in room 304.
Our daughter was unlucky, she woke up from the incredible smell of sewerage in the room. She complained repeatedly, but they could not do anything. The smell left, and then again appeared.
A friend sent her a cake and a bottle of wine for her birthday. Two maids brought and said that it was from the hotel congratulation on her birthday. When a friend called and asked: did you like it? She realized that she had been deceived. She called and only then the maids brought her a card with congratulations and the name of a friend.
At night I had to ask to calm the people around the fountain, which every night loudly listen to music.
But the worst thing happened before the county. We came to the pool and I saw a couple - an adult man and a Cuban boy (looking 14-16 years old). The boy massaged the man's knee and I thought it was a massage therapist. But why so young? Then the adult man gently kissed his ear. There were a lot of people, there were children, attendants and waiters Everybody pretended not to see anything At this time an adult man with a boy was playing in the pool, hugging, a man was touching the genitals, sometimes kissing a boy.
The boy was having fun, because the adult man had given him an alcoholic cocktail. It was an Italian, he taught the boy to count in Italian, German and French while gently touching his genitals with his feet
It just killed me! Why does the Hotel permit the bringing of Cuban minors here ???
I understand that the country is poor, but one must have a conscience and respect for people.
The last straw in the sea was that when we left the hotel we were forced to pay for two breakfasts almost $ 400 (for the subsequent we did not come), although they said that after an additional payment the breakfast is included As it turned out that they simply deceived us
And we put the luggage at the reception and went for a cup of coffee. They probably thought that we would not pay and therefore took our luggage to another room. It upset me very much, why they think so badly about people I'm very sad about this ..
I will NOT recommend
the Hotel Saratoga !!!

Do NOT book tours with these peoplego to another hotel in Havana. The lady with the glasses who works in the tour office to the right side of the hotel forgot to put through our names for a day trip to Vinales and we were left waiting inside the lobby for almost 2 and a half hours, watching other tourists be picked up on time and depart for their journeys, to be eventually told that we could not go on the already paid for and arranged trip. We were left so disappointed and upset and it tarnished our experience of Cuba in general.

Unthinkable worst service, awful food and dreadful stale breakfasts charged ontop of inflated priced average rooms. Dont get me started on the rooms!! This is 5star???? you would have to be joking! Unfriendliest rudest front of house staff ever. Noise from the streets is unbearable until 4am!! Nightlife goes all night..you don't get any sleep. Why anyone rates this hotel anymore than 1 star is from another planet! We rate Minus 5 for our stay. 😣

I paid over $600 a night here. The first night smelly water came out of the ceiling in the closet. When they finally fixed the leak, I had to ask twice to get the water mopped up (they didn't use any cleaning products). My room had only half size windows facing a main street, that night the traffic and other street sounds were so loud that I could not sleep. The second night I ordered 2 diet cokes via room service, the bill said 6.60 (which included a .60 service fee). The following day when I paid my tab they charged me 8.25.

Last week we stopped there for a meeting and had a quick bite. Very classy! When we return we will try to get to the rooftop. Sadly, it is difficult to book hotels given the new popularity and the prices have doubled. But to the people who give these places low marks for spotty wi-fi and slow service, please go to Miami Beach. We will all be happier.

Went for a meeting and then dinner in November 2016. It was a good experience. Food was good. The pool on roof top and the view of the city are highlights. No idea about staying there.

We stayed here for three nights. We had a room overlooking the main street. It was noisy from around 7:00am even with the windows and shutters closed but good standard of room. The bar and restaurant were great places to chill out after running around all day in Havana. We would definitely go.back there again.
