It's a beautiful country. Arriving at airportlines to get through customs. Our transportation was there . 25 mins to resort. Check in was fast. You have to go out to get personal drinks ,snacks, or refreshments. . Breakfast was great. Every night a different theme when it comes to dinner. I suggest the local restaurants have good foods. Ask around first. Be prepared to be approached on the beach. . . Only tour we went on was the volcano, lakes, shopping excursion. . Oh, go to cocoa beach an eye opening experience. Only regret was not going on a fishing or scuba excursion. . All in all it was nice. And the people in Costa Rica are beautiful.

Our own private Villa, 3 bedroom 2 bath. Perfect for our family trip with teenagers, we all had space to relax after our adventure excursions! We rented a car and never had a problem with parking or coming and going through the gate. Close enough to walk to the beach but wonderful to be able to take the shuttle during the heat of the day back to the condo. No view but loved the afternoon and evenings on the patio to cool off with a plunge pool and hammock surrounded by tropical plants. Villa was older but not bad in any way. I love to cook and the kitchen had bare minimum in my opinion, yet it still work out just fine. Master bath was small, but again not an issue, just noted if it is a concern to others. We never went to the pool or ate at the restaurants, we didn't do the all inclusive or book excursions through them, but it was available. Check in was smooth, great staff, and pleasantly uneventful!

I have been to many countries and stayed at many hotel/resorts. Villas Sol was the worst experience to date, in over 30 years of traveling. When I arrived with the family only 1 person spoke English. I was asked to fill out much paperwork and rushed through it. A deposit of at least $300 was mandatory in case we bought something at the resort. We were told it would be refunded upon departure. I spent $260 at the restaurant and for towel rental but it was charged to the room bill and not deducted from the deposit, as it was supposed to. After coming home, to the U.S., I saw my credit card bill and the deposit was not refunded. I called the Management at Del Sol and was informed the deposit was non-refundable and it was in the fine print on one of the many papers I was rushed through. The first night at the room, dozens of large bugs, many large spiders were everywhere, including the shower and on the bed. After arguing with the manager another room was given. That room barely had water pressure, the toilet was leaking and AC would not go below 86 degrees. Once again I argued with the manager, who all of a sudden could not speak English very well. The next day a maintenance worker came in to fix the shower and charge the AC, lasted for about 8 hours and once again no AC. This went on for three days until I went to the front desk and got VERY LOUD and aggressive, said some things that usually do not come out of my mouth. Finally after showing my disgust, a new compressor was ordered which arrived the next day. It was a 7 day stay and had a comfortable room for only 2 of those days. We bought food to keep in the kitchen but on day 2 woke to thousand of ants all in the food, had to throw over $100 of food away as ants covered it all. I asked for some compensation for the troubles we had, once again NO SPEAK ENGLISH. After again loosing my cool, they would only have housekeeping wash our laundry prior to departure. We paid for a premium suite and spent much money for total discomfort. I would never allow my dog to stay there for free. The vacation away from Del Sol was great but the resort was the worst experience I have ever had. That is the only reason I gave it 1 star or it would have been no stars. I would not recommend this place to anyone, look elsewhere !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice rooms, great views and access to the beach. But we were high pressured to attend a sales presentation by our concierge during check-in (apparently the company over- built), which soured us on the place. We came here to take trips into the national parks, hike, and watch wildlife--not consider buying condos.

I will never rent a place at Villa Sol in Playa Hermosa again!
The staff at the reception center were pleasant, but they would not help you with any assistance needed to support local businesses, such as calling for dinner reservations when we didn't have cell phone service. They would only help with there internal services and there food service was medocre at best.
The noise from the lower pool area was so loud that the bass actually vibrated our bed. The music was so loud from 8:00 PM until midnight that you could not sit outside and carry on a normal conversation and we were at least one hundred yards from the pool area.
During the day the activities people had there mic so loud it hurt your ears, this was during pool games and Bingo. It had to be causing hearing loss to the children at the pool.
We left messages for the evening manager to meet us to discuss the noise levels and he never showed up. All of our neighbors were very upsetting with the noise levels.
If you want a peaceful vacation, Villa Sol in Playa Hermosa should not be your destination.

This is a beautiful property. It's located close to the beach. Our party rented three villas. The villas are equipped with a full kitchen. We cooked. We dined at a few of the local restaurants along the beach (not affiliated with the resort). Customer service was excellent throughout the entire resort. We didn't purchase the $65/day all-inclusive bracelets and chose to just put a certain amount on it for use at our leisure since we prefer a full cultural experience. The breakfast buffet at the main resort restaurant was good. The small poolside bar was decent for drinks, but the food was not that great. It offered a variety of cut fruit. It's an excellent selection for those seeking a boutique alternative from the usual big name resort properties.

The resort is nice, very hilly though. Getting around is mainly done through three shuttles that run every 10-15 mins around the resort. The hills are very steep and sometimes you feel like you're going to fall off the shuttle unless you hold on tight. Food options are very limited for an all inclusive. Only 1 main area caked the bahia and the food is mediocre at best. It could definitely be better, not much protein served at each meal and not enough seasoning or taste to the food. Could have some chicken nuggets or French fries as back up for picky eaters or kids. The villas have one bedroom with a queen bed and a sofa bed and apparently every room is like this, so if you're with your brother mom and dad, you're a bit screwed. Hot water is limited, came back from the beach and had barely lukewarm water to shower with, although I'm told the next person had lots. The drains are vey slow as there are bugs everywhere. The bed, the floors, the walls. all have ants, haven't been bitten by anything yet tho. There isn't any drinking water in the rooms and they don't let you carry out any food to the rooms either. So you have to resort to going to the grocery stores or in emergencies the little mini marts on the resort. A jug of water cost about 7/8 bucks. AMERICAN. For water to keep in the fridge so you can drink at night when you get thirsty or take it in bottles to the beach/sightseeing.

This facility is a resort that will try to sell you Vacation membership packages by a company called HSI do NOT (I repeat) DO NOT purchase ANY packages. They are a complete SCAM. Especially w a guy named TOMMY JONES who completely misled my friend & I to believe we were purchasing one thing, but it turned out to be NOT at all what he sold. What's worse is his manager REYNALDO would not do anything about it when I tried to dispute this. No return of phone calls or messages. Complete scammers. Costa Rica is an absolutely amazing country but don't ruin your perception by staying at this place. This is by far NOT a 4 star facility. Maybe 2-3 star at best. Rooms are outdated, not the cleanest. Food was mediocre. The best part of this facility is the view but for the most part, it's pretty isolated from town & attractions & you pay a big fee for a shuttle/taxi to get anywhere. The whole vacation sell experience ruined it for me. Bad business period.

The negatives: Room smelled like mildew. No water pressure. Lots of little bugs in the room. Food was very sub-par. No beach access from the resort. Lots of high pressure sales to go on one of the daily outings/excursions. Small pool was not good - nobody ever used it for fear they might catch something. TV in the room was a 15 year old model and 20" and worked intermitently. Not within walking distance of anything. Missing shingles on the roof.
The positives: staff was polite. Large pool was nice. Views were great. A/C in the room worked. Lots of wildlife (including tons of ferrel kittens) roaming around.
Wasn't quite what we expected. Coco Beach was scary and without booking outside transportation ( which they strongly advised us not to due to scammers) you get stranded there for 4 hours.

The room has bugs. The television didn't work for half the time. The staff was nice. If you need a taxi to the airport please understand that it will have to come from 20 minutes away so call them in advance before you go down to checkout. It was $50 to get here from the airport and $40 to go back. The food was "free" but it wasn't memorable. I'd suggest if you would like to visit Liberia, just book a stay at the Riu. The experience was well worth the extra dollars. Also, the staff at VS was okay but they just don't seem too informed on their operation. There's no ATM on the grounds and the lady at the desk told us the area one was a 4 minute walk down the street. The walk ended up being 45 minutes roundtrip. It's really a 2 star hotel with a 5 star view. Be humble.

The rooms are clean and spacious. The staff is always very helpful and pleasant. The restaurant that serves buffet style meals 3 times per day, is delicious. There is fresh juice at each meal. I can't wait to come back and revisit this beautiful place.

5 stars for the employees! I've never had such an awesome experience at a resort because of the staff. Gerald was amazing and our house keeper was absolutely lovely! Couldn't have asked for a better time!
Sunset was beautiful and it's super cool seeing wildlife such as iguanas, lizards, a monkey and mapaches.

Thoroughly enjoying my stay at Villa Sol! We booked through a service and got the all inclusive package - airfair, food, drinks, and room for 5 nights. So far, it is amazing! All you can eat buffet for breakfast, lunch, and dinner that have been great quality and variety. Drinks are made on the spot and there's no limit. Two pools to swim in and a shuttle to and from the beach. The views depicted in the photos on the website are the real deal - you get what you see! The staff is extremely friendly and accommodating. I was shocked, there's no mirage for sales here. This place is fantastic all around! We are so happy that we are considering making this an annual trip!

The villas perse are nice, but to get to the beach is kind of annoying. 24 hour AC (which bothered me because I got sick going from extreme heat to extreme cold) If you want white sand and clear water, then this is not the best place. I stayed in the villas near the reception area so we had a private pool (and a hammock). If you book a place at the of the hill, you'll get a great view of the ocean, but you'll have to share a pool with other tourists and you'll have to take transportation to the beach. Overall it's not that bad. I wouldn't come back though.

We totally enjoyed this resort!! Great food, great scenery, amazing beaches and wonderful staff!

BUT!!! I'm left with a very sour experience! When you arrive they swipe your credit card for a $300 hold for deposit on your room.they supposedly remove it when you check out. We checked out I said you removed the hold and he said yes. The other couple we were with had this process done differnetly, they had their card imprinted with the old style paper signature, and it was disposed of when they checked out. The next day when we got home I checked my transaction an they clearly charged me $300 US on my card which is $403.80 Canadian, it's clearly a charge.holds do not show on your statement. I've since called down to the resort several times, they keep telling me it's my bank,but clearly it's an error on the person taking the hold off of my card. I've emailed the resort as well with no response. This is a large sum of money that is not theirs!! I just want them to refund my cardthey do NOT want to deal with this issue. The amount is still on my card and has not been refunded.

I've since emailed West jet Vacations to tell them my issue and my credit card company will handle it from here as they are calling it FRAUD!!!

Beautiful resort spreading from the beach up a very steep hill. This vantage gives spectacular views of the ocean. Resort transportation is excellent at getting you around (and up and down). The restaurants are very good and the amenities wonderful.

Great casual condos. I love having your own mini house. Awesome fun at the main pool and bar with events all day, on site. Short walk to the beach for beautiful sunsets too. Trams run most of the day to get around. Food was excellent. Staff was amazing.
