  Exceeded our expectations. Ricardo delivered our car to our hotel and took the time to explain what to expect while driving in CR, how to use the GPS, vehicle ops, etc. And we felt no pressure for the extra insurance ( which we did opt for anyway ). The prices quoted are what we paid, and vehicle worked perfect for us. We rented the Daihatsu Bego, and were very happy to have a small SUV instead of a car. CR has a lot of ROUGH side roads. We met a couple who cancelled their rental with a different rental agency, because of the hidden costs, and took the bus instead. We are so happy with Target.

  The folks at Target Car Rental were awesome all the way around. Our Suzuki 4x4 Jimny gave us zero issues and was clean and reliable. The people at Target we’re very friendly, answered all of our questions, and had no hidden or surprise fees. Their rates were fair and all disclosed in advance.
  
  The most amazing thing was I lost the keys to our vehicle in Quepos Thursday night about the time the office in San Jose was closing. The keys fell out of my pocket when I’d inadvertently left them in there when I decided to swim. The folks at Target sent a driver that night to meet up with me to get me back on the road and charged me much less than they could have. It was the single best customer service I’ve ever experienced.

  Before I start sharing my experience, I just want to mention that ALL DRIVERS AND RENTERS UNDER 25 YEARS OLD SHOULD NOT RENT FROM TARGET CAR RENTAL. When my boyfriend and I booked online via an email conversation, the customer service agent made offered us a quote of 465USD for 8 days (which is cheap in Costa Rica) and said that there were no hidden fees and that we could add 80USD extra at arrival to have full coverage (which we intended to do). Although, when we arrived, the customer service agent mentionned that the full coverage is prohibited for 25 years and younger (he should have told us before since he already knew our age). After we left the car rental, everything went well and they texted us via whatsapp to make sure our trip was going well. During our before last day, we received a rock in our windshield (which we had to pay because we didn't have full coverage). We visited a few known rentals (Hertz, Alamo, etc.) to know how much they would estimate the cost and it was about 250USD. Once we arrived at Target on our last day, they made us a "friendly" price of 147USD but wanted us to pay cash or debit when they already had a 2000$ deposit (very commun scam at Targent apparently). We told them that we wanted the amount taken from the deposit and they did. After that, they wanted to charge us 1 colones (which is worth nothing, but they wanted to have our credit card back in their system since they had released the deposit). My boyfriend insisted that he did not want to get any other kind of charge and they insisted for him to enter his PIN (which he did, but not the good one), so they abandonned. Watch out what they ask you because it is very sketchy. Make sure to verify the car slowly before you leave on your first day and verify that the agent notes well on his sheet.

  Très satisfait de cette agence, prix compétitif, service sérieux et professionnel. Nous avons cassé une poignée de coffre en plastique et elle ne nous a pas été facturé, rare pour être souligné!!

  Excellente agence de location de voiture. L'auto allait très bien. Gens courtois, sympathiques et ponctuel. Et contrairement à d'autres compagnies de location, eux n'essaient pas de vous vendre des assurances en extra pour rien !!

  Todo perfecto. Lo mejor de lo mejor. Personal muy atento, simpaticos, bellisimas personas.
  Coches en perfecto estado, muy limpios y cuidados.
  Precios muy asequibles en comparacion con las otras agencias.
  Volveria a reservar con ellos.
  Todo un placer.

  Target Rent a Car in San Jose Costa Rica is clearly the best, and should be the only, place to rent a car when traveling in CR. This was our second time renting with Target and from the outset and initial emails, the staff were courteous, kind and welcoming. The staff cared for us well from booking to pick up at the airport (even after we were delayed by an hour and a half long line at Customs!) Our reservation was as expected and we even received an upgrade without asking. The car was in excellent shape and everything was clearly explained. You cannot beat the price and especially given that it includes GPS (a new unit in our car.) In addition, the full coverage (you should always get this in CR) insurance was very reasonable and clearly defined. I couldn't believe it when I saw two bad reviews (one recently and one a year ago) against Target. This is unbelievable to me given my experience and makes me question who wrote them and what their problem was. I can't imagine anything but a five star rating for Target and one of the bad reviews (there were three other five star reviews, which one should expect) didn't even bother to say why or what the problem was. Unless you want a horrible time with Hertz, Dollar or all the other rip-off rental agencies in Costa Rica (don't get me started on Hertz or Toyota Rental Car where the prior kept me in their office for 2.5 hours while my wife and son baked outside in the heat) you must choose Target. As I understand it there really is no other great option. Bravo Target!!!!! Hola!!! James

  Nous avons loué une voiture pendant 16 jours avec target, nous sommes très déçu. Le gps dont certaines fonctions primordiales ne marche pas et le loueur vous le dit explicitement sans que cela ne semble lui pose de probleme. Véhicule dans un état catastrophique, rayures de partout ce qui rend le checkin très difficile afin de détecter toutes les rayures et ainsi le vendeur vous fait payer au retour des frais pour des rayures qui soient disant n’était pas la. Le vendeur devait récupérer le véhicule a 10h mais nous avons du l'appeler car il avait tout simplement oublie et nous avons failli rater notre avion car il est arrive 2h en retard. Enfin le véhicule faisait beaucoup de bruit d'air très désagreable. Pour toutes ses raisons je déconseille fortement cette agence, ils ne sont pas professionnel, pas organise et malhonnête. Le seul point negatif lors de notres sejour dans ce beau pays le costa rica
