My wife had the chef's salad and she raved about the pineapple. I had the herb-encrusted salmon which looked amazing and was tender, juicy and delicious. They had live music, a flamenco guitarist, on the Friday night we were there and he was amazing. Service was excellent and the homemade hot sauce was delicious.
Absolutely horrible. Typically I like salty food, I'll normally choose chips over a cookie or ice cream. But the amount of salt at Nenes is unprecedented. I had the Blue Margarita, it came with a salt rim, ok not my preference but easy to wipe off, however the drink itself must have been full of salt. It was the first drink I've refused to finish since I attended an amateur beer brewing competition and some of the beers had gone bad.
The fillet mignon was even more upsetting, again so salty that I couldn't eat it. Before I had even tasted it I had cut some off for both my kids, they both said it was too salty and my son refused to eat the second piece I had given him. My wife found her steak too salty too, albeit not inedible like mine.
My daughter stopped eating her salad after she became more interested in watching the bug in her salad rather than eating it. To be fair, the bug was live, so it may have arrived while she was eating it, rather than been served with the salad.
Finally, the cooked broccoli was a bleached yellow-grey, presumably massively overcooked.
We asked a driver and hotel desk for recommendations and each gave Nenes as the place to go. We were just arriving and not looking for anything extravagant. The adults settled on rice with chicken and rice with seafood mix. Both were flavorful and a good amount of protein in each. The kids had a cheeseburger and Alfredo pasta, those were more average. There are steak and wine options if you are looking for that. Our meals averaged $10-12 each. $3 dollar local beers. Decent dollar exchange rate for USD payment.
Had the tenderloin in stroganoff sauce- truly one of a kind and delicious! Definitely worth trying. Service was great, and we loved the fruit smoothies.
The food is great and so is the service. Donny was our server and made our experience that much better. Very friendly place. We ate there 5 times out of our three day stay in La Fortuna.
Very unimpressed! Read the reviews so decided to give it a try. Service was fine. Attentive. Meals simplistic for price. Very overpriced even for La Fortuna area being overpriced in general as it is a tourist area. Husband had steak. Was ok. I had chicken. Was like eating rubber. How does a restaurant in a country where everyone eats/ fixes chicken make it so bad? Definitely wouldn't go back.
Everyone we talked to about eating establishments mentioned Nenes. We enjoyed a terrific meal on their porch. Our waiter, Jimmy, took care of us and had some great suggestions for what to order. Be sure to enjoy a meal at Nenes while visiting La Fortuna.
A bit pricey for somewhat boring but good food. Very nice atmosphere
Best ceviche ever!!! Great food with fresh ingredients and decent prices! Definetelly not a turist trap!!! Give it a shot!
Food was great. Service was good. Drinks packed with alcohol! Dinner for 2 with 3 alcoholic drinks and appetizer came out to 70 usd $. My wife wasn't a fan except for the drinks so they lost a star.
The tilapia and the cocktails were excellent, I'd wholeheartedly recommend to anyone in the area
Visited here on a recommendation of the hotel we were staying at. Restaurant is nicely decorated and a nice place to spend the evening. I had the daily special which was the steak, this was excellent. My girlfriend has the daily special fish that was not as good.
The restaurant was extremely quiet when we visited and there were 6 waiters working however the service was a little lacking.
Our taxi driver told us to go to this place. We ordered the special dish of the day. I ordered Tallapia fish, it was unfortunately over cooked. The other dish was shrimps and steak. Steak was very good, only it didn't mentioned the price. And we were a little bit surprised by the price.. because it was very expensive, if you compare it with the other dishes on the menu. Service was good. We would recommend the ceviche, that one was really nice.
We ordered the tilapia. One was overcooked, didn't bother to finish it. One was better cooked, still not great. How you can order the same dish x2 and one be bad, I don't know. Attention to detail was lacking.
Food was good, but the service was not. Our waiter just straight up left without a heads up or anything, we just saw him walk past us to his car. We had to ask for the check twice. However, the burger was very good and the prices are very reasonable.
Fantastic place with fabulous food. I loved the ribeeye steak cooked to perfection.
Place was average. Had like 4 different servers and had to ask for the bill twice and still had to wait 10 minutes. Place wasn't busy. They were too busy on their phones and watching TV. Had a steak and it was average. Asked for medium and it was rare. Sides were average. Staff was kind of friendly.
Amazing food! Definitely stop here. Mario is very sweet and gives super service. I had the chicken stroganoff and it was so good
