The hotel is nice and laid back. The swimming pools are clean and beautiful. The buffets actually have good food, plus they have three sit-down restaurants. The staff is very friendly. Overall, this is a great place to come with family and friends.
A wonderful experience at this resort. Staff were amazingly nice and seemed to generally care that we enjoyed our stay. The resort itself is beautiful and well maintained. I love the area between the two resorts as it gives the feel of walking the streets of Costa Rica in a safe area. I feel as though there should be a 24 bar.
We recently stayed there for a week and we're really happy with the stay. The room was spacious and clean. (Hope you like purple) had a walk in shower and nice big bed. Plenty of food choices, from sushi to steak and lobster. The pools can be a bit overcrowded, but it's a short walk to the beach. We loved swimming in the ocean everyday. You can buy everything on the beach from jewelry to coffee and even excursions. You will see wild monkeys, birds and lizards all the time!
The staff is great, always friendly. Learn how to say "Pura Vida". Everyone says it all day long. Don't forget to visit the monkey bar, ask the staff. Have lots of fun, we sure did ❤️
Brilliant resort. Staff very friendly and helpful and all appeared really happy and pleased to give a service. All inclusive really was all inclusive available 24hrs and optics in room! Accommodation excellent huge comfortable bed spa bath wet room spacious and kept super clean. Good variety of restaurant s and food. Bar staff super efficient. Entertainment and animation team excellent offering large range of activities. Spacious well maintained grounds pools and open areas. Always plenty of sun beds available and services on beach too. Beach much better than expected and good walks along it and surrounding area with added beauty of local wildlife. Brilliant. Would go again.
Great hotel, nice staff. Mostly clean. Our room smelled really bad, and when we reported it, the staff said they would clean it again. We weren't allowed to get another room because apparently they were fully booked, but it smelled a little bit better after they cleaned it. Still not fully. Other than that everything was amazing, along the beach are a lot of walking salesmen. They try to get you to buy anything and everything. But if you go along the beach you can find some shops setup across a bridge and those are really nice with great prices. Drinks are quite delicious and food is mostly great. Can't complain about much. Good Costa Rica experience overall
This hotel is really beautiful! All of the standard rooms come with a bed and couch, tub and giant shower that could fit probably 10 people. It is all inclusive, and each room comes complete with bottles of liquor bolted to the wall and mixers and beer in the fridge. Fantastic. The grounds are very clean. There are about 4 pools I believe, and a swim up bar. The steak restaurant was very tasty. If we were staying longer I would have loved to try out more restaurants. The bed was pretty hard for my taste, I would recommend asking for extra pillows as well. The beach the hotel is situated on is small and the sand is hard, but it is still nice enough. The actual van ride out there is pretty scary, but that is the case with the roads and driving in Costa Rica in general I suppose. Nice place!
We were there last week. I wouldn't recommend it. We didn't find the we staff to be very friendly or helpful. WE HAD ITEMS STOLEN FROM OUR BEACH BAGS while we were in the pool. When it was reported (three different times) to the hotel staff and management, they did nothing. They didn't ask our name, room number, day or location of the theft. The Delta Representative was upset when we told her and she too reported it. Again, nothing.
The pools were nice, the decor old.
Place is awsome .. not only great views, and excellent accommodations and great food, the people are second to none at this place. If you are up for an excursion see Luis from prime tours Costa Rica instead of the hotel he is excellent and his tour was absolutely the best.. Just meet him in his office (the beach) right by the monkey bar ;)! Will be going back 100% will stay in the palace for the extra few dollars wouldn't even be a question.
A beautiful resort! We were very impressed with the ease of check in - there were 9 of us - the cleanliness, beautiful large modern rooms. The shower was fantastic! Great variety of food. Many restaurants bars and lounges to pick from. 4 pools. Tons of seating around the pools and on the beach. We loved all the shady trees areas on the beach. Great service everywhere. Very classy resort. We highly recommend
Excellent hotel staff and facilities. Highly recommended for a holiday vacation for all ages. Set on the beach and also has a huge free form pool so lots of sun loungers. Lots of bars and restaurants around so plentiful supply of the best food and drink. Some hilarious local wild life visitors too as the cutest raccoons and cheekiest birds try to also feed on the delicious meals here. Lots of local trips on sale from beach sellers or from within the lobby if you prefer insurance and higher prices. 5 star luxury treatment and definitely recommended
A beautiful resort with very good food and amenities! Much better than many all inclusives we've been to in the past but it has been a long time. Nice pools and lots of activities near by. Nelson Mandela of Caesar Tours has been awesome in setting up ATM excursions and fishing, etc. Will definitely be back to Costa Rica and maybe even here, but we like trying new places.
By far the best hotel I've ever stayed in, the place the room the food is just amazing. There's food for all types of tastes. We went with our 2 year old and the attention from all employees was amazing. Staff in general was really good the place has its own little private beach good for a quick soak very calm beach. The pools are amazing I counted 6 separate pools.
Great hotel. Lots of choices for food and drinks. It's all inclusive, So it's party time!!!! Staff is great. Very friendly and accomodating. Rooms are very close to beach and pool area. Highly recommend this hotel.
Rooms were great, service was excellent. Staff very attentive. During our stay the country was hit by tropical storm Nate and after incessant heavy rain we lost all electricity and communications for a couple of days. They had back-up power up in no time, and staff were cheerful and maintained a high level of service throughout the disruption.
Fantastic hotel and resort in Costa Rica. Everyone is really friendly, helpful and seems to be having as good of a time as you are. They offer a variety of different food selections that were excellent and varied by day at different restaurants. There are water activities to be had during the day, shows and live music at night and also have a casino and discotec on site. The bars are pretty much always open and the bartenders offered excellent service throughout our stay. I highly recommend walking down to the end of the beach in the morning to see some of the local monkeys!
Overall my vacation in Costa Rica was incredible. Thankfully it wasn't all spent at the resort.
Remember to lock your things in the room safe otherwise housekeeping will search through your belongings and steal money if they find it. The manager/supervisor will claim to investigate the matter but it will never get resolved in your favor, if at all.
The staff at the Italian restaurant give off an "I hate my job" vibe and when housekeeping mops the floor they often forget to place wet floor signs where they can be readily seen so proceed with caution!
The pool area has an elderly nursing home vibe. No music so bring your own waterproof speaker.
The other staff in the resort was friendly and attentive. It is a comfortable place to stay and the food at the restaurants was good. Book plenty of excursions to help limit your time at the actual resort and your vacation will be amazing.
People who never have never travel don't know how a beach hotel looks like. Please first travel then compare. This hotel is amazing, awesome and everything related to this word. The recreation was fantastic , the food amazing, people pretty nice. We paid for a suite room and was Fantastic. Compared with more than 25 beach hotel all around the world this is one of the top.
Lovely staff, beautiful hotel. The only downfall is the food in the main restaurants is pretty cold but for me that is something I can overlook. Something interesting that I have not seen in any other hotel I've been to, is that scuba diving, paddle boarding and kayaking is all inclusive with the hotel so you don't need to pay for it.
Great amenities. I didn't care for the Italian restaurant as there was a crawling bug and a spider in the salad. Breakfast buffet was great, pools were great. The drinks were perfect thanks Tony, Andres and Adrianna. Our room was nice and comfortable.
The resort is beautifully situated in the forest. The food is mediocre at best, but the fresh fruit is simply amazing. The staff are very courteous and attentive. The rooms could use a bit of updating. If you are looking to do excursions, be prepared to ride an average of 1 hour to get to most places, as the resort is extremely secluded. I would most likely not visit this resort again due to the location. The beach is not pretty, due to the volcanic ash color. The ocean water isn't blue. It left me yearning for that Caribbean feel and view. Overall it's a good resort if you are the kind of person who wants to lay out at the pool all day and simply relax.
Please always remember to lock the safe in your room. $330 dollars was stolen from our room . We were rushing to catch our bus for one of our day tours. Manager gave us basic massages and gave us an ocean view.
Amazing place, stayed 7 Nights and had a great time. Staff really friendly. Was all inclusive and loads if food and drink. Main meals were good, but not amazing, puddings were great! Breakfast and steak house definitely mu favorite. Hotel very clean everywhere.
The staff here hustle hard for you. They accommodated my small children over and over. Buffet very good quality. Beach with lots of space though little shade.
One of the best all inclusive hotels I have ever been too ! Awesome experience and food was really good !
Wanted to go there again soon !
The price is also pretty cheap!
Pros:
-everything inclusive and the price is quite cheap ! Awesomeness 5 stars !
-staffs are very nice !
-Food was quite good with many different choices for breakfast, lunch, dinner ! So many things to eat !
-Pools are awesome ! Big and with bar in it !
You can drink whatever you want while swimming !
-Many activities to do by the beach !
-Rooms are clean, nice , and extraordinary view !
-There are casinos and clubs in the hotel !
-Private beach is beautiful !
Cons:
-Location is quite far away !
-A few restaurants need reservations to get in, and when you figure it out, it was already too late.
-Too many bees around the pool area, they wanted to steal my mojito !
My wife and I were in dire need of a vacation and we couldn't have picked a better place. The volcanic sand beach behind the hotel is amazing. The service was awesome. Everyone was very friendly. And it was easy access to A lot of beautiful natural scenery around Costa Rica, including the Cortez Waterfalls and Shell Beach. Our room was fantastic, we had a jacuzzi in the room and it was very clean, every day. Lot of white surfaces, A big balcony and everything was working as it should have been. None of the specialty restaurants required reservations, which is big for us as it allowed us to feel like we owned our the time. The food at the restaurants was also delicious and they offered a wide range to choose from. The service at the restaurants was top notch, with the exception of breakfast being little bit more relaxed. Grilling at lunch time by the 6 or 7 amazing pools is huge too.
The only reasons we don't get this place five stars is because the "first aid kit" did not even have alcohol in it when my wife happened to scrape her knee on a water slide at Vandara. One of our phone chargers disappeared from our room as well, and no offer of service recovery. Lastly, there is absolutely no access to an ATM on the resort, outside of the casino, which is only open after 6. Don't restrict access to my money, after accepting so much of it for us to be there in the first place!
We'll definitely be back to Costa Rica sooner than later!
Tip: Buy all of your souvenirs on the beach, they're quality goods and actually help local people doing honest work!
Extremely great experience, the staff were professional and very friendly, cleaning staff exceptional, amazing food at ALL restaurants, drinks were yummy and shows were pretty good as well. THe only thing I would change is the appropriateness of the dress in some of the first few shows, but other than that our 1 week stay was one of the best resorts we have ever been to. The beach is really neat, not as nice as others and the sand is brown, but there was so much wildlife and beautiful pools at the resort it didn't matter. So much activities available to do and excursions were a lot of fun as well! Pura Vida!
Amazing views, friendly staff, in room bar stocked daily, lots of free activities included & pay-to-go excursions, swim up bar, massages on the beach (MUCH less expensive than resort spa-Renova). The restaurants & buffet food is fair to good. Get to dinner before restaurants open, otherwise, they fill up quickly. Restaurants don't take reservations. Room service food was horrible, except for tea, honey, & mimosas. Who can mess that up?! However, everything else was wonderful & I highly recommend this all-inclusive resort.
