Had a very relaxing vacation at Las Tortugas. The beach is amazing as is the friendly hotel staff. Lois the owner was very informative and really treats all his guests as family!!
Can't beat this location! It is right on the beach! Hotel staff is friendly. Rooms are simple, quaint and clean. It is a small resort Oasis - only 11 rooms - yet has everything you need! Hot tub, pool, hammocks. The restaurant was good and reasonably priced. We regretted dining out because the food at the hotel ended up being tastier and better value than some of the overpriced food from town. Highly recommend!
The woman at the front desk was very helpful in reserving us a canoe tour with their guy Jonathan. Unfortunately Jonathan never showed up to pick us up. When we called him he said something like "that's just Costa Rica."
Great place for happy hour as well as food. Service is always great.
Hidden gem. This place is awesome- great value, friendly and helpful staff, nice rooms, swimming pool + plenty of hammocks. Right on the beach with a great view. Perfect spot for surfing.
It is the third time I have been to Hotel Las Tortugas since 1990, and I am still totally impressedWe stepped out of the car in the gated parking and there was a whole clan of Howler Monkeys in the trees with 2 babies, eating the mangoes and tree leaves right over our heads. You will see exotic birds, Iguanas, Turtles at nesting season, and if you surf, will probably encounter a Manta Ray as I did (swam right past me) turtles, etc. The hotel staff is friendly and thank you once again to Diego, Sandra, and Shirley for outstanding service! This hotel is in a natural park area and is far removed from Tamarindo. The surfing in front is best-in-class, also I recommend room 11 if you want the top room with a nice terrace looking at the surf breaks, the rooms are very affordable especially in the off season, you will sit out at night and enjoy fantastic electrical storms that put fireworks to shame. The rooms are nicely air conditioned but a word of caution the summer is very hot and humid but also my favorite time since I love occasional thunderstorms and downpours. This time there was surprisingly very little rain, but it is the coastal Guanacaste. From this location there is easy access to the other beaches of which they are all amazing. If you prefer a 5 star hotel this is more of an adventurer's paradise (not for you and your never ending demands and complaints) and I much prefer the genuine hospitality and the natural surroundings. There will be other surfers here and probably students or touring nature-people. The restaurant has a very good ambience and the food is great! We had unlimited cocktails and fresh food, all cooked with natural ingredients, and very tasty. The rooms have a refrigerator. If you are an adventurous traveler seeking a peaceful and enjoyable natural surrounding then this is your place. Tamarindo is nice but the hotels are expensive by comparison and there is a lot more hustle and bustle. It is close, but the drive around the estuary is 25 minutes. I will look forward to visiting Las Tortugas Hotel once again. Thank you everyone for a great vacation!!! (Douglas, Chance & Brannen, hab 11)
