This is a realistic opinion we received from staying there.
Do not be fooled by the pictures when they they tell you it is a spacious luxury 2 bedroom condo. Do not know where they got the pictures from, but miles away from what we stayed in. Bedrooms are so small you can barely walk around the beds. The air conditioning is only in the bedrooms and automatically shuts off in the middle of the night. You wake up very hot and sweating. And the air conditioners were not large enough to cool the entire condo. Also said totally furnished and I specifically asked about washer and dryer, and they said all units have them. Surprise, no washer or dryer. They said when we checked out that if you would have left laundry, the the cleaning crew assigned to your room would have done.
laundry for you. How the he** were we supposed to know that. The television was a 1990's model 13 inch that did not come in real clear and one tiny couch about 10 feet away from the television. And a small chair on the other side of the room. What a joke. One English speaking channel. Apparently no one ever showed them what a spacious luxury condo was supposed to look like.
Cost $159 US per night and we felt totally ripped off. When we complained on check out the response was totally oh well too bad. You are gone and we got your money. BYE BYE. Stay away from this falsely advertised tourist spot. Much nicer places to stay on the beach, and for a lot less.

Lovely beaches. Air-conditioned rooms with plenty of hot water. Several pools but we did not find a whirl pool. Buffet style food with little in the way of Vegetarian protein. But lots of fruits and salad. And lots of choices for the meat and seafood eaters.

Loved it! Lots of CR families, wildlife & birding enthusiasts from around the globe. Monkeys, butterflies, macaws and other birds. We had the breakfast plan and had 2 dinners there. It was great, so many healthy choices! The CR families tended to have the full all inclusive, and they definitely wanted to maximize it. We enjoyed the whole scene.

The room was great, service too. The only star I removed is because the bar near the buffet is only open on the weekend, every other day if you want a drink in your Selvamar room you have to walk 10 minutes to go to the main bar and pool.

Cool hotel to spend the weekend. Be mindful of crowds with lots of kids running around near pools and the restaurant. If you are looking for an adults retreat skip this one, this is more for mid level family vacations.

Nice facilities in general for the hotel complex which is actually huge. Also it has direct access to 2 beaches, one with dark sand and the other one with white sand, both of them are really clean, which is nice to know taking into account that the travel time from San Jose is short (1 - 2 hours)

Pay food-included option and you´ll have amazing buffet. There are two beaches but Blanca is the best option.

It was a blessing that our travel agent arranged our stay at Punta Leona. From the first days drive in, we knew we had been introduced to something special. Between both beaches, the pool areas, the restaurants, the bars, and the beautiful villa we stayed in, the only regret we had overall was the decision to not stay longer. The hospitality of the staff deserves a 5/5 star rating alone. Alonso at reception is an exceptional person. He literally spent an evening relaying calls and messages from our car rental agency to our room and to restaurant where we were dining to help not interrupt our experience when we realized we had a flat tire. Erick the manager at Carabellas (restaurant) was also concerned with our car's situation and informed us of air filling stations located on the property. Now, I have to say, I work in the service industry, and I almost wanted to hug the guy when he asked us how everything was working out with the vehicle the next morning we saw him at Carabellas. I know this guy has a life outside of his job and he's got enough on his plate running the restaurant, but for him to follow up and ask the next day if we were taken care of, that meant so much and we were truly grateful as it was 1000% obvious he truly cared. The overall positive, caring vibe towards the satisfaction of guests ran throughout the entire resort. For anyone traveling to Costa Rica this is without a doubt the place to stay. From its beautiful beaches to the rainforest villas, Punta Leona stands as one of the best resorts we've had the chance to stay at. We will deffinitey be returning for a longer stay in the future.

Little cabins in the middle of the jungle. If you go off season service and staff are outstanding. Geckos and bugs get inside rooms. Great buffet. Kinda getting run down now.

This hotel is a perfect place to be with your family. It offers a variety of activities like bird watching or watersports. The private property also includes a part of (tertiary) forest and a lot of different animals living therein. There are different swimming pools on the hotel area and a beach. It is also possible to be driven to another, more beautiful beach area by a free bus shuttle service provided by the hotel. All in all we enjoyed the few days we stayed at the hotel and we can recommend this hotel especially for groups consisting of people of different ages and for families.

They trouble locals and have a very bad ethics, I rented a car and parked near their hotel it was far from their property they spoiled two tyres completely, I had no way to go for I am a forigner and dont have much idea about this place. I was not hurting their business in any ways, some how had to ask help from my local friends and got out of there !

    Thank you!

We just spent 8 days at Punta Leona Resort and had a wonderful time! We did the all inclusive package and weren't disappointed. You only get one option for beer and the tequila, but both were perfectly acceptable. And there were several other options for liquor drinks if you want something else. Our room was in the Valamar section and even though we didn't have a balcony, per se, we had a small porch that backed up to greenery, so plenty of privacy. The maid service was great, they came each day like clock work and the entire resort was kept very clean. The food was good, plenty of options included. We did go off site a couple of times for seafood and La Ostra just down the street from the resort was superb! Recommend renting a vehicle for your entire stay. We did and were happy to be able to come and go as we pleased, including if we just wanted to go to Playa Blanca. Keep in mind, you can take an ice chest with drinks (no bottles) to the pools as well as the beaches, which is very convenient. There are a couple of onsite mini marts, which came in handy. Loved all of the bartenders! Edyl, Jordan, Vicente, Alberto, and the other Alberto, Kristina, Jesus, and Juan were all super nice and attentive! We were there during College Football Bowl games and they put them on the TVs at the bars for us, as well as the NFL games. It was fun to watch with them because they aren't familiar with it, so we had fun explaining the game. The Disco had great music, too! Bring your dancing shoes!

Awesome resort! Great area to walk around in. 2 beaches, pools, restaurants, lots of locals here, safe friendly, and a large wilderness area. Many types of accommodation on resort. Wrist band allows access. There is a shuttle as well. Pacific Ocean was beautiful!
