Perfect for peace seekers. It's heaven on earth! Great pool and beach.
This is an excellent place for a getaway for a few days. Off the beaten path (in fact, the road the last 20+ minutes is gravel), with lots of details, and fantastic attention. You are looking at a few cabins by the tropical jungle, facing the Pacific ocean. The turtle-shaped pool is warm and fun to play in. The main building offers meals from breakfast (included) through dinner at 9:30pm. There's a mezzanine with games and a pool table, and the seating around the pool and facing the sea will get you beyond relaxed. The rooms are gorgeous, each with a porch, with a chair-hammock, and a lazy-bed. The bathroom is beautiful too, and the whole place is very environmentally friendly.
Downsides: check-out beguns at 8:30am, so if you need to leave sooner, make your arrangements ahead of time. The Wi-Fi is spotty at best (but you may want to think of that as a plus, since this is a place to relax in). If you are easily creeped by bugs and creatures (crabs, iguanas), you are going to be stressed out As you are by the jungle and the sea.
Amazing place! Amazing location! Would recomend anyone who enjoys quiet lifestyle in pure nature.
Great p
lace. The service is really professional. The location is a paradise!
The place was Beautiful but the food in the restaurant and the service was really bad 👎
this place gives itself only 3 stars but for us being there after an illness was like being in a 5 stars Hotel. the place, the atmosphere, the food and the service.
Pura Vida to you, dear French mysterious pretty lady who runs this place
I have taken the liberty and included this site in my Espionage Drama book one can purchase on Amazon books called : "To kill a Shadow "
my wife Denise and myself warmly recommend this place as a peaceful resort to rest , read and think about life.
Relaxing atmosphere, friendly staff, private bungalow rooms, full bar with pool table. 2nd time stay just as great as the first!
Bautiful place and excelent services
Location: yes, it is on a shore and very secluded but for a very wrong reason—nobody wants to be there ( pls. see the picture) ; once you pass a small village you would have to drive for another half an hour on unpaved, bumpy -dusty road going through what appears to be a former palm tree plantation dotted with many house ruins/shacks; the neighborhood is very rough. The beach is there, but the ocean has high waves crushing at the shore—I wouldn’t dare to swim there. Yes, you can walk on the beach , but the sun will bake you in no time for most of the time. There are no services around. The security guy has a gun. The location is basically a trap ( hard to get in and out) and if anything happens there to you there will be no help coming anytime soon.
The premises: the online pics are highly misleading: everything is pretty much outdated/screams cheap; there are no brick and mortar structures, all made of wood and hay. The owner doesn’t have a lobby and you’d have to do a check-in in her office , which is also a place for 3 very large dogs to hang out. The pool is outdated, very uninviting.
The owner is unprofessional, rude and untrustworthy. One of the dogs scared my daughter and I mentioned that it is not proper to have dogs around at the check-in area, after that the owner started yelling at us and eventually told us (her exact words) “shut up or get out”.
The bottom line, once you paid online she keeps you hostage and you are at the mercy of this place ( BTW, she charged us total $290 per night and we stayed in Hilton in San Jose for $100 only) . My mistake was to book 3 nights trusting the reviews ( I still don't understand how this place got so many 4+ reviews ) and thinking that the place is professionally managed. My advice is to book at Jaco or Manuel Antonio instead--there are many way better, customer friendlier and more accessible hotels some even with direct beach accesses. Clandestino is not worth it even at $50 per night, in my view.
Little bit of the road but secure, close to the ocean, food little bit too expensive
I was very frustrated with the customer service. I recently found out I was pregnant and due to the concerns regarding zika, I called to explain the unforeseen circumstances to the hotel and ask for either a refund or a credit to use at the hotel another time when it would be a safer time for me to travel. The lady that I spoke with was extremely rude and told me that my baby would be fine and all of this zika stuff isn't even real. Unfortunately, my husband and I are not willing to take that risk, so we won't be making our trip to Costa Rica like we had planned. Every other hotel we had booked with was very understanding and have us a full refund, but this hotel was extremely rude. We were making the cancellation 3 months in advance during the busy season, so I'm sure they would be able to fill the room, but I just couldn't believe they wouldn't give a partial refund or a credit to use at a future time. Once we do go back to Costa Rica in the future, we definitely won't be staying with them.
Good Location. Clean setup. Across From beach. Nice restaurant.
Paradise within Paradise
We only stayed for one night but wish we could have stayed a week. We arrived at sunset and were greeted by a lovely receptionist. It is literally less than 100 metres to the beach and it is beautiful and unspoilt. The restaurant was great and not very expensive (a bit different to my experience in Tamarindo). The pool is beautiful. There is plenty of areas just to chill out and relax. Our room was all made from local product (like bamboo) and there was a real environmental consciousness about the place that we liked. One day we will return.
