Beautiful property off the beaten path. The road to get in is gravel and very bumpy for approximately 30 minutes. Rooms were very large and comfortable. Only complaint is they could use better pillows. The hot springs were absolutely wonderful.

Very large villa to ourselves with a huge shower, vaulted ceilings, mini fridge and hammock on the patio. We made it the hour on a dirt road (no rain) in a car but drive slow! There is a ton to do on the premises including a spa, natural hot springs, butterfly garden, hummingbird watching, saunas, mud bath, swimming pool and slide, and a ton of wild life. We saw a sloth, toucans, macaws, frogs. They even have friendly miniature donkeys and horses! A good breakfast is included and there is a variety of options for each meals, everything was excellent except for the fried chicken.
We stayed 3 nights which was perfect time to explore and it was nice it was away from everything else. Highly recommend the zip-lining, I've been in a few different country and this was the best yet. The tubing is literally white water tubing (helmet, knees, and elbow pads provided) and I only recommend for the extremely physically fit with no back problems. Gorgeous property and EXCELLENT staff. Kendy who gives excellent massages and also is a waitress is an absolute love and all of the tour guides including Ronald and Kevin are knowledgeable and helpful. We had excellent conversations with everyone we interacted with and Davis in the front office was awesome. Even though a resort it didn't feel overly touristy because of the remote location.
I highly recommend taking a walk up and over the bridge from the resort and finding the "Local Art" shop. The owners are amazing and the prices are great! They will hopefully be starting a tour of a local farm. We got to be given a test run tour! It was awesome beyond words to see and learn about how the locals life and see in person Pura Vida being lived. They are a beautiful, friendly, amazing family and the souvenirs are the favorite we found in the whole trip.

You will find everything you need for a relaxing vacation in one place. Blue River Resort offers multiple hot spring pools with hot and cold water, including one with a waterslide. There is natural sauna and volcanic mud bath, butterflies garden, botanical gardens, birds and animals. They have a gym and a SPA for ultimate relaxation. They also offer tours like canopy, hiking, rafting, horseback riding for those who enjoy nature first handed. I totally fell in love with this place.

Not worth the price. The staff won't let you use their trails as they are "private property" and require a pricey tour guide. To do anything yourself you need to drive 1hr+ back to the main road. Also food is mediocre and over priced. I do not recommend and will not be returning.

Loved this resort! It had some of the most beautiful plants and gardens that I've seen at a resort! There are mud baths and hot springs that help you relax and enjoy nature! Pura Vida!

Loved it, though they raise expectations a bit at the reception the place is clean well maintained some pools are very VERY hot, rooms were spacious nice and clean. Definitely visiting again.

Such a nice place and it's a really great place to spend quality time with your family. The people at the restaurant are super nice (thank you Carlos and Oscar) although the food was a little pricey and I even learned some Spanish while I was there. The pools were really nice and one even had a water slide, it wasn't the longest slide in the word but it was cool.

Just a little tip go to a supermarket and get some mosquito repellent and some Benadryl.

I did 2 of the tours one was the zip lining tour and that one was awesome, the Tarzan swing was to die for (the Drop was epic).I also did the horse back riding and that was cool. Once we rode the horses down to the waterfall in Dino park we swam in the natural swimming pool which was not that cold. Overall that part was awesome!!

The animals there were cool. There were dogs, toucans, turtles, fish, koi fish, humming birds, butterflies, peacocks, chickens, chicks, and roosters. There was even a sloth!!!!

Overall the resort was a great place.

My boyfriend and I decided to travel to Costa Rica for the first time. We are both in our mid 20s and make a decent amount of money but are not able to travel frequently and when we do, we have to budget carefully. I got a great Groupon deal for my stay here and so that's how our reservation started.
There were some not so great reviews that I read before arriving which made me a little nervous and I wasn't sure what to expect. Fortunately I am happy to say that everything was great!

The road was definitely very rough along the way from Liberia to the resort so I'm glad that I chose to arrange a transfer instead of renting a car. However, if you are familiar with driving in Costa Rica or just a very confident driver, renting a car is probably the better value since the transfer was $125 each way and was just a normal taxi car. Renting a car is also probably a better option if you plan on staying longer than 3 nights because then you can plan day-trips to other areas.

If you NEED to have internet access at all times then you may have some frustrations because this is a remote area in the middle of the rainforest and so sometimes it is just not possible. This shouldn't be a deal breaker. You're in the middle of nature, enjoy it.

There were some complaints I read about cleanliness. Again, you're in the middle of the rainforest, bugs will exist. The cabanas reminded me of spacious cabins that you would rent in a national park or something similar to that. They are not pristine but we loved our stay. The bathroom was very nice. It was an ideal spot to read a book after a long day.

There is not much to do after 10PM. There is a full bar open through dinner (until 9PM) and there is no closing time for the pools, but they do shut off the lights.

The activities are great! We did the Waterfall Hike and the Tubing which were included with our Groupon Voucher. Some people who had signed up for the tubing seemed to think it would be more like a lazy river. It is not. As long as you're okay with the possibility of getting a little banged up, it is a lot of fun and a great experience!

I was a little nervous about the restaurant since it is pretty much the only option for food and some other people had complained. I thought the service was exceptional. The food was delicious. For daily breakfast you have the option of American or Costa Rican options which are included in your stay.

The pools and hot springs are awesome. The water is naturally green but all of them were kept clean. I loved it, they were very relaxing to rest in.

Anyways, I just wanted to give a detailed review since I find these to be helpful when planning a trip. If you are looking for a typical all-inclusive resort then this may not be what you are looking for. If you are looking for a unique experience in the middle of the rainforest with an opportunity to experience nature in a remote location then this is a perfect choice.

Staying here exceeded my expectations. The staff is extremely friendly/helpful, and the cabanas are cozy.

I'm vegan, and was a little worried that they wouldn't have anything for me to eat. No problem there! They had a really good vegetable sandwich, fries, pasta dishes, and some salads. Oh! and the sloth on their property is a rescue.

I like that you have the option of booking an excursion, spa day, or having a whole day of nothing but relaxing. Next time i'm in Costa Rica I will definitely be back.

Absolutely loved this place. Staff is very warm and helpful and the surroundings are beautiful. The location is a little isolated, but perfect for a long weekend. Spa pricing is also extremely reasonable and the services provided are excellent. I visited with several girlfriends and we all enjoyed it, but this place would also make a great romantic getaway for couples.

The best part about this resort is the beautiful area with lots of wildlife, trees and plants and very beautifully landscaped around the cabins. While the staff are very polite and friendly, they are totally ignorant of customer service. Long waiting times to get served at meals, meals can take as long as 2 hours and one constantly has to ask for refills, condiments. If you don't ask, you don't get. You get the feeling like your invisible sitting at the table. Our room had mold all over the ceiling and each morning we woke up with swollen eyes and sore throats. NO INTERNET SUCKS!! Pools were very beautifully landscaped but water was dirty.

Bottom line: very beautiful, decent room, horrible service. Menu is boring and very expensive $10 for a hamburger.

We rented a car and drove up to this beautiful remote resort. Lovely staff, made us feel welcomed and very hospitable. Did two excursions with them, had a blast and never will forget it. Loved their traditional food. Their pools and gardens were gorgeous. Loved taking night walks and spotting wildlife along their grounds. Worth the drive and great deal.
