This place is absolutely amazing. We didn't stay at the hotel but we did the adventure pass there and it was well worth the money. For one fee you get to go zip-lining, horseback riding, river tubing, and to a hos springs. All of these thing were better than the next. Other places only have one of these thing but this is all in one. Its a bit out of the way to get to but if you go you will not be disappointed. Plus the scenery there is stunning and the staff is super friendly and helpful. There are lockers to put your stuff. Make sure you have a reservation online because it makes things go much faster.

What a cute hotel! It’s rustic looking but modern and up to date with ameneities and cleanliness. Service is great and every employee seemed to speak English. It is convenient to the National Park, and entrance to the Rio Negro thermal pools is included in the stay. It’s a cool experience to put volcano mud on your body, and towels are supplied there but keep in mind it is a walk from the entrance of the thermals to the actual pools. We didn’t do any other activities at the hotel but there seemed to be a lot to do. The only reason 4 stars instead of 5 was the food is not amazing (it’s not bad either). Breakfast is included in the rate as well.

With beautiful green grounds to roam, a fresh and filling breakfast and the opportunity to see a heard of horses casually passing by whilst taking a shower this place is magical!
Offering fantastic adventure tours for all ages, there is plenty to do and the adventure staff are all very experienced with plenty of personality.
The hotel is located inside a national park with waterfalls, thermal springs, rivers and some generally beautiful scenery so there are plenty of beautiful spots to relax and lots to see.
The room itself was clean and comfortable with the added bonus of a hammock outside. Overall a fantastic location with some lovely staff willing to go above and beyond.response / report this review -

We did a tour on horseback to the national park and the waterfalls. Very good price/ quality experience were we got a personal guide. We were allowed to gallop with the horses which was amazing. We even saw a puma on the way to the park!

Nice and clean, big rooms, great location which makes it the perfect hub for the national park and all its attractions around. Only critique would be that the service in the restaurant was pretty bad, but that's mainly one waiter's fault

We enjoyed the adventure activities. The hot springs were great. Food and rooms were good. The grounds however were not very nice. It was not a pleasant place to be when you were not doing any activities. Every space is right up on the ranch opslivestock, equipment, parking etc. Would recommend day trip to this hotel or stay one to two days max.

My first experience was OK. We really liked the local hot springs, which is managed by the resort.
My second experience, we did not stay at resort, but tried to visit the hot springs in the morning. There was a miscommunication with the first guard (being that he did not speak English). We must have came at shift change because a second set of guards showed up as were starting down the trail. They demanded twice the amount of money we had paid the previous time we visited the hot springs. One of them threatened me with a machete in front of my 2 and 6 year old children. He chased us back to our rental car swinging the machete at us. I give them one star for chasing guests with machete.response / report this review -

A beautiful ranch. The equivalent of an American dude ranch. It's located in a national park so the hiking is lovely. The meals were delicious and the rooms were nice. It's a little far from town but if you plan on staying in one location you'll find plenty to do.

We did the hot springs with mud bath, hike to waterfall & lunch. We went in mid October on a Wednesday in the off season and literally had both places all to ourselves!!! There was an employee at the hot springs to help with the mud, but otherwise we had a private experience at both locations. Lunch was not the $20 buffet we expected, but better yet was cheaper and order off the menu amazing meals! The fresh pineapple margaritas were wonderful :)

We did not stay at the property but we came here to go tubing and loved it!!
GOOD
-The price. $110 for 2 people.
-They held on to our car keys for us while we went tubing.
-Our car was safe with all our belongings.
-We got to ride horses!
-At the end of the horse riding trail we saw lots of monkeys in the trees!
-The tubing was so much fun!
BAD
-Tubing was a little shorter than I had expected. I didn't realize we were going to take a bus after riding the horses to the tubing star point, and then take a bus again after tubing, to the main building.response / report this review -

Everything was great! The staff was friendly, the food was good and healthy and the air conditioning worked (other reviews say it does not). There is very spotty hot water but you can't complain because it is solar powered and we were there in the rainy season. Plenty to do if you want to be outside and enjoy nature. Don't expect a luxury hotel, this is definitely for people who like to be outdoors and be eco friendly. Great job guys!

Rooms are good size, clean and nice. Quite basic with soaps and towels. Hotel is a bit more expensive but thermal baths are free of charge and there are many hikes and waterfalls around the area to visit. And many great paying activities. The breakfast is good and you have something for all tastes.

Adventure pass was a great deal! We did not stay in the hotel, but spent the day with an adventure pass. Horseback riding through the forest, tubing down the river, lunch, ziplining, then some time on our own in the hot springs and mud baths. The guides were friendly and efficient, and the ziplining was FANTASTIC! Incredible views! The buffet lunch was good, and overall the day was a great deal for all that we did. Highly recommend!

We are seasoned Costa Rican Travelers. We have been to this hotel twice. Activities are good but overpriced. The food is just not very good. Do not get tricked into the buffet of $22 unless you enjoy blandly prepared and rubbery meat yet plentiful helpings of rice to fill your belly. Rooms and grounds are nice. Staff very good. But this place is easily accessible via monster bus so be prepared for some big rigs and big influxes of bus tourists.

I wonderful vacation spot that might seem a bit rustic at first but, for Costa Rica, is really quite nice. The adventure activities offered are all fun and easy. Nestled in volcanic foot hills, the views are beautiful and the scenery doesn't dissapoint.

So many activities to do at Rincón de la vieja National Park. From zip lining to relaxing in a hot spring, being cowboy for a day to hiking, there is something for everyone here. The food's pretty good, the staff as well. A great weekend getaway.
