For those not familiar with Costa Rica, there is a mandatory insurance that is charged on top of the daily rental fee of a vehicle. A lot of rental companies we looked at were not transparent with what this fee exactly was and we had to spend a lot of time looking through fine print to notice that on top of a daily rental fee, some companies would charge up to $100 USD per DAY for this mandatory insurance. After spending hours and hours researching car rentals in Costa Rica, we stumbled across a blog called My Tan Feet who had an entire article about renting cars in the country and highly recommended a local company called Adobe Rent a Car. Based on this and other traveller reviews, we decided to book through the widget on the My Tan Feet blog with the promise that all fees were transparent and the final quoted price was what you actually paid upon arrival. When we arrived at the Liberia Airport, a shuttle was waiting for us and took us to the Adobe offices about 10 minutes away. We were greeted by a super friendly rep who talked us through the rental process, inspected the vehicle with us and was very helpful. We were not charged a penny more than what were quoted, we received a great quality vehicle and had a fantastic experience at both check in and check out. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Adobe!

Definitely the best and largest local car rental company in Costa Rica with best value, since 1990. The company focuses in delivering a complete service at a reasonable price, with no hidden fees and total protection, zero deductible insurance available. One of the youngest car hire fleet, long term rentals or Renting, with 25 years of continuous success, excellent customer reviews and among the highest customer value.

Truly fantastic! Orlando was phenomenal at every moment of our trip and trying to accommodate us when our prior car rental plans fell through! We are so grateful for his info and love that fact that Adobe is so straight up with their prices and accommodating their customers. Thank you!

After we were told our car was no longer reserved at Hertz, we were frantic to find another vehicle as our itinerary depended on the flexibility of a car. Because of high season, there was no availability for vehicles, so we were very anxious. We arrived at Adobe and spoke with Alexander who was very understanding and accommodating. It turns out there had been a cancellation the night before, so Alexander hooked us up with the car. We were so relieved to know we didn't have to change our travel plans and accrue more charges because of the poor customer service we received at Hertz. Adobe was professional and really helped us out. This was the first time we used Adobe, and we will certainly use them in the future because of this wonderful experience. Thanks for saving the day!

I have been using Adobe in Costa Rica for the past 6 years. I visit at least once a year. Best price in the country, best offers, no hidden fees. Cars are in good shape, and costumer service is amazing. I would highly recommend it.

Excellent service! Easy to work with and they are good at making arrangements with us and simplifying the process. They even helped us out when we were stuck on the side of the road over 5 hours away! I would recommend them to any tourist traveling to Costa Rica.

Can I give zero stars? We rented an automatic transmission car and were told if we wanted to forego insurance, to bring a letter from the credit card agency. Upon arrival, there were no automatic transmission cars, and we were told we brought the "wrong letter" from the bank. This was the exact letter we were told to bring. We were charged more than double for an automatic transmission car and an extra $90 for insurance. 90 minutes after we arrived, we were finally given a car. They programmed the GPS. Once we left the agency, we realized the GPS was taking us to a very sketchy part of town. People started honking at uswe had a flat tire. No way were we stopping, so we continued to a safer part of town (there aren't many), changed the tire in pouring rain, and returned to Adobe. That's when we discovered there were three new tires on the car and one really bad, old tire with a leaky valve stem. We were unaware this was a "flat tire scam".Adobe didn't seem remotely surprised at our flat and gave us a new spare. They told us after they programmed the GPS, it must have "reprogrammed itself". While we were not physically robbed with the flat tire scam, we WERE robbed by Adobe. Never, ever rent from them!!!!
Our reservation number was 526614 and Marcos had been helping me online. I have no idea who helped me at the physical locationthere were many men, all telling me different things.response / report this review -

These folks are the largest and best in Costa Rica. They don't have hidden charges as all the others. They don't play games. They give you value for your money and help to make your experience a great one.

Good vehicles, friendly service. The check in and check out process can take a while. And I had a problem where the Adobe person going over the van I rented from them with me told me to be sure to put diesel in and the van actually took gasoline, but overall it was clear nobody was trying to scam me. So, I'd recommend renting from Adobe over the American brands available in Costa Rica.
