Stayed at the hotel part: "stay at Basel SBB", with very comfortable private rooms, bathroom and shower was very comfortable and clean. Check in is a bit complicated though. I had used the pre-check in system which promised expedited process at the reception, but still it took a good 20 minutes of wait time, including the queue in front of us.

Very good location. We were told the apartment had a kitchen so assumed we would be a lemurian to cook but it has no cooker. So meant eating out more. Service was very poor, no sheets or towels provided for the 3 guest after we asked twice. If the service was a little better and it had a small cooker or camping hob it would be excellent. Has a balcony which is lovely.

Near the train station so it's easy to get the city centre! Good facilities, kind staff and comfortable and modern rooms! I loved the atmosphere in the breakfast room and the hall.

Great location, and helpful staff. I didn't appreciate the rap music in the lobby/dining area as it just sets a more exclusive hipster tone than what we seek out in European hostels, but all was clean and that was helpful indeed. Great to have a sink in the room too.

Very good for the price. Affordable, with great accessibility to the station and several shops nearby. Great place for the crowd, had too many youngsters there, expected in a way.

A wonderful hostel with helpful staff. Close to the major attractions in Basel and in a safe location. Large lockers keep all your belongings safe.

My wife, our 4 children and I stayed here for 5 nights for Basel Fasnacht.
It was easily the cheapest accommodation we could find in Basel.
We shared a room with 5 beds (baby slept in mums bed) and a sink. The showers and toilets are communal but individual and always very clean.
There is a shared kitchen to use if you wish and a common area with a pool table.
There was free wi-fi to use which was very good and free tea and coffe in the common area.
This hostel was very clean and tidy. The staff were always helpful and the common area was quiet and relaxing.
You get free public transport passes during your stay. So you can see all of Basel!
I would definitely stay here again!
P.s Don't forget the tourist tax that everywhere in Switzerland (amongst other countries) now charges. This is not in the room price and we had to pay once we checked in.

Stay at Basel SBB is next door to the YMCA and uses the reception of the YMCA. The whole place is fantastic. The rooms are beautifully furnished with wood and also have a washbasin. Plenty of towels are provided, plus your very own robe and slippers.

Toilets and showers are communal but individual and are also beautifully appointed with a separate shower head and flexible shower hose in each cubicle.

Breakfast is included and features a range of cereals, and bread rolls, croissants and ham, cheese, marmalade, plus a very good choice of different teas and a very good automated coffee machine.

The wifi is excellent and didn't drop out once.

You also have the ability to sit at all times in the large breakfast room area which is perfect for browsing the web, reading or anything you want and that free tea and coffee is available all day. At reception, you can also purchase various food products which you have the freedom to cook/heat using the facilities provided. Toiletries can also be purchased.

The location is a five minute walk from the SBB station so is perfectly suited if arriving by train or on any of the trams that congregate on the other side of the SBB station.

Talking of trams, your stay at SBB includes a free transport pass for the duration of your visit.

Yes, Switzerland can be expensive but for your stay in Basel, your accommodation won't necessarily be one of them.

A fantastic place with a great team that work there as well.

Fantastic hostel at a great price. Wifi worked well in 1st floor rooms. Bed sheets already on except duvet for less work. Amazing presentation and cleanliness. Great staff. 3 blocks from central train station.

Only issues would be cramped men's bathroom stalls and awkward toilet paper placement. Also in the mixed forms, beds 1-2 get seriously screwed over with a double whammy of half volume storage and needing 2 locks XD would be nice to have power plugs by the head of each bed rather than the floor. Or like carnival Berlin hostel, each bed should get a smaller lock box with internal power plugs for phone charging with piece of mind.
