***BEDBUGS*** Currently sitting in the hallway outside my room trying to find another place to stay because I'm already bitten up. Everything else in this place deserves a 4 star for the price, but bedbugs are just unacceptable.

Cheap but not worth it. The dorm is very small and not much space for you to move around. You don't get a room key (which means that anyone can enter the hostel at any time) though there's a locker to use if you have a padlock. Worst of all, or maybe I was just very unlucky, I believe I had been bitten by the bed bugs and it is just so horrible. I have ugly scars from the bite all over me now :(
I still gave 2 stars though because the girl at the reception was very nice and really tried to help me.response / report this review -

So much worse than any other swiss hostel or hut that i have been to.The rooms are tiny-no room to move at all, horrible since you share the room with strangers, light was not working (in a room located in the basement that is a problem even in summer), the blankets are woolen ones without linens.Temperature for the showers cannot be regulated. Clearly the cheapest place in zermatt, ok for party people who are not aiming for sleep. If you wanna have a nice time and enjoy zermatt, spend a bit more money. Very glad that we only gonna stay here for one night.

Definitely get what you pay for. Aside from comfortable beds, there isn't much great to say about this place. They give you some wool blankets and uncomfortable pillows that are bearable if you're a heavy sleeper. Perhaps the toughest part is that you can't make a move without being heard. The doors squeak and the floors creek unbelievably loud so you're getting up early in the morning whether you like it or not. That bathrooms are relatively clean, but the showers don't get all that hot and they are clogged with all sorts of stuff, so they easily flood. Not a horrible stay, but if you can afford to pay a little more, I would.

Are trip could easily be described as "Ballin on a Budget". The Hostel was relatively clean. They did not have cold water when we were there but we had brought our own. The beds were fairly comfortable and our roommates were awesome. The bar downstairs had an incredibly fun atmosphere. Can't really beat the price for staying here because everything in Switzerland is so expensive comparatively.

WARNING: BEDBUGS!!! DO NOT STAY HERE!! My partner and I got bit all over our arms, legs and face just after spending one night at this horrible place. When we showed management our multitude of red swollen bites the next morning, their response was to yell and scream at us, blaming my partner and I for bringing in the bed- bugs!! Unbelievable. We have never been bit by bedbugs until we stayed at the Matterhorn Hostel. The manager even kicked us out in a rage and told us to leave the country!! He said bedbugs don't exist in Switzerland and that we Americans brought it with us! First of all he needs to be educated. Bedbugs exist everywhere. Switzerland is not immune to bugs. Secondly we are not Americans, not that it matters anyways. He was incredibly unprofessional, uneducated, discriminatory and has a very bad temper. This place needs to be investigated. Spend a little bit more money to stay in a nicer, cleaner and bedbug free hotel. AVOID This place at all costs unless you don't mind being a feast for the bedbugs.
