The location of Park Hotel Vitznau is a prime exemple of the spectacular beauty of the Lake Lucerne region in general, and its upscale offerings in particular. The views over Seelisberg, the Bürgenstock and Mt Pilatus are stunning, especially at sunset. The direct proximity of the road may induce noise, and guests will be well advised to select lakeview rooms.

We ate on the terrasse of the Prisma restaurant. Our fenel and apple salads were ordinary, but the lamb saddle entrée was sublime. The servings are gastronomic, designed for 5 course meals and therefore tiny. Desert was excellent too.

Count a minimum of 120-130CHF per head for a 3 course meal and a glass of whine, but the setting on a sunny evening is likely to make it a memorable experience.

Tip: to go there, take the ferry from Beckenried. It is a welcome alternative to the twisty road and gets you to Gersau, very close to Vitznau.

After a short hike we had lunch on their incredible lake terrace. Staff friendly, food tasty and the surrounding mountains reflecting in the blue of lake lucerne made it a great moment.
