  Came here shopping for some small, light outdoor camping gear to take on a motorcycle trip to Lake Superior. Not knowing too much about back country camping and how to pack lightly for a motorcycle, I naturally had many questions about Wilderness' wide selection of product.
  Garrett was able to answer all my questions as if he really had first hand experience with every product he sells. He even gave me some pro tips for back country camping and how to not get eaten by bears.
  Now I come and see Garrett almost everything, including footwear, outerwear, and even causal clothing too
  Don't waste your time at the big box retailers, the level of product knowledge and customer service here sets Wilderness so far apart from everyone else.

  I've easily spent over $10,000 at the 2 Winnipeg Wilderness Supply stores over the past 20 years.
  2 boats, multiple pack sacks etc.
  I've tried to patronize them because I thought they were good.
  I had my first warranty claim with Wilderness Supply, on a high end North Face tent this month.
  North Face declined the warranty stating the model year of that tent was outside their warranty range, even though the tent was lightly used and this was clearly a manufacturers defect.
  I was rather upset and originally this was a scathing 2 star review.
  Rick at Wilderness Supply contacted me and made the deal right.
  And that's righteous.
  All these companies have their policies.
  I have a policy too.
  I pay good money to destroy expensive equipment.
  But the equipment has to hang in there till I get around to destroying it.
  That's my policy.

  The course I took was "Intro to Kayaking". It was great for beginners as well as for people who want a short brush-up of their skills, like myself.
  
  The instructor (Kyle) was incredibly informative and made sure that everyone felt safe and didn't rush anyone into doing things that they weren't comfortable with doing.
  
  I highly recommend this company!

  A very good course "Introduction to Kayaking" held on June 26, 2016 at Hazelwood Lake in Thunder Bay. A lot of good information covered along with basic techniques that were demonstrated and practiced. The instructor, Lise Vaugeois, was very knowledgeable, patient and safety conscious. Glad that I participated.

  I participated in the Intro to Kayaking course and I would definitely recommend it for anyone who is looking to learn the basics of Kayaking. The instructor was fabulous and very knowledgeable. She took the time to make sure each student was getting their technique right before moving on and we had an ample amount of time to practice. We had the beach to ourselves and got to see some wildlife while we were on the water which was a bonus! I cant wait to put my new skills into practice. Great course!

  Excellent course! Instructor was VERY knowledgeable and VERY safety conscientious! There is a lot more to kayaking than I realized and this course covered a lot of the "basics". If you're thinking of trying kayaking, I would recommend investing in this course. I would also consider taking the 2 day course as opposed to the 1 day course, as it is very physical.

  Participated in the Sea Kayak Level 2 Course held at Thunder Bay, ON area Jun 27-30. Course Instructor was Ray B. Due to the cold water of Lake Superior(3-6C), the first 2 days covering strokes, and the single person/2 person rescues were conducted in the warmer water of a man-made lake in Thunder Bay Area. The last 2 days of the course including the overnight camping trip were spent on the west side of Lake Superior. Instructor Ray was very knowledgeable, and passed on tips& tricks, as well as anecdotes, that I felt were helpful teaching points. Enjoyed Ray's teaching style, in which he was cognizant of safety of the group/individuals throughout the course. Knowing now how cold the water of Lake Superior is this time of year, and only wearing a 3ml wet suit, I feel taking this course in a later month ie Aug/Sep when the waters of Lake Superior are warmer, might be more beneficial/conducive to the learning experience in this area. As being relatively new to Sea Kayaking, I felt the Level 2 course helped me to build on improving my strokes and other skills. Lew Weber
