Lots of people think this is an expensive outing. 30 bucks a person. I disagree. This place is one of the most beautiful places you can experience in Victoria.
A lot of work, money and manpower goes into maintaining the grounds. I spent three hours there. It was well worth the money. In the summer they have little ice cream shops. Delicious! Great to cool down the kids. This is a staple in Victoria, you have to check this out!

This is one of my favorite places in the world. I have been to several European parks and gardens (Tuileries, Luxemburg, etc.), but the Butchart Gardens are still my favorite. The Sunken Garden is especially breathtaking (it was once a limestone quarry). The Japanese Garden is quiet and reflective, and the Italian Garden is another highlight. I also had the opportunity to have afternoon tea in the Dining Room. That, too, was a nice experience. Visiting the gardens is like visiting the Land of Oz. They are still beautiful after all these years.

So first off was surprised at the cost to get in which was I believe was 35 dollars a person. Ouch expensive. Especially for just walking around seeing some flowers. There own brochure said it would take about 2 hours to walk through. Not the best value for money. But it was really beautiful. The day was perfect, sunny and warm, but not to warm. I am not really into flowers as much but the gardens were well laid out with plenty of places to stop and rest and look around. And other than the walking by the time I was done I was quite relaxed and had really enjoyed the entire experience. Which normally would have probably earned this a 4 star rating at most. But There was one spot in the gardens where I sat down and if I lived in a perfect world would have just lived there the rest of my life. It was so beautiful, so peaceful. Made the entire day worth it and goes on my list of favorite places in the world. So an extra star for that. Oh and if it's sunny remember to take sunscreen.

Loved the gardens. A special treat to watch and the highlight of our time there, were the Saturday night fireworks which were beautifully set to music and quite different from the usual fireworks one sees on national holidays. It was almost like a theatrical production! The fireworks happen every Saturday night during summer and are included in the admission price. They also have concerts in the evenings during the summer weekends.

Spent about 4 hours there, enjoying myself, so got enough value for the price of admission. Even the bus ride on #75 from Downtown Victoria was not so bad. Rose garden is gorgeous in bloom, and moss animals in the Bog Garden are adorable. Do the high tea at the restaurant if that's your thing, as it's (comparatively) reasonably priced. Wish there were some info stands on plants you will see in every garden, and Bog Garden and Mediterranean garden are hard to find, almost missed them. Grounds are well maintained, staff is friendly, and the entire garden is walkable in heels ( a wheelchair path also exists). Dogs on a leash are allowed on the grounds and people bring them.

This is the most beautiful place on earth. We traveled here from Texas and I didn't know anything could be so beautiful. You have to experience this world of absolute breathtaking flowers, trees, plants and the entire property was unbelievable. If you don't go anywhere elseGO HERE! It's a must! You will love it!

Would recommend. Did a weekend trip up here. A self guided timed tour is not the most relaxing. I would recommend renting a hotel room at a neighboring town and spending a few days checking the park out. Definitely need more than a couple of hours.

To fully appreciate Butchart Gardens you have to visit every season. Especially at Christmas. They offer live music, a carousel and the poinsettia room. The grounds have a beautiful light show and waterfall. Convenient shuttle services and discount rate for groups, seniors and children. Several shopping and dining options. Wheelchair, baby stroller and umbrella rentals are also available.

I love this place! I'm a pass holder, so I visit a couple of times a month. In the summertime they offer entertainment which is always a hit. Yes, it's expensive but they always make sure to make it worth your while! The gardeners keep this place beautifully landscaped, and as colourful as it can be for each season. It's so lovely to see the changes in the seasons if you're lucky enough to go more often.

I visited the Butchart Gardens as a child as part of a summer camp trip to BC, Canada. It was so beautiful it was surreal. Being from Brooklyn, NY you don't often see gardens like this one (or at least I didn't). It's nice to see from the pics that it's just as beautiful as it was when I saw it in 1988. Definitely a must see. Be sure to bring your camera!
