I've consistently had a good experience at The Art of Loving! The store has been a treasure trove of knowledge. The staff have been helpful and kind, and I appreciated their approach when I got self-conscious and nervous asking about products. One of the biggest things I appreciate is the general atmosphere that celebrates healthy sexual expression! I've attended seminars and talks there over the years and got some excellent products and books. A big thanks to all the great staff and instructors!
Excellent service. Cheaper prices than other stores we went to. Wonderful book selection and they offer a huge range of sex education courses!!!
I went in with my partner as the store looked very promising. When I entered the lady at the counter said they were closing in ten minutes, I then replied saying we will be very quick as I just wanted to know what the place had to sell. As I picked up a book not even a minute from entering the store she says "you know I have a patio calling my name" in a very rude tone. We did not feel welcome at all & ended up leaving very quickly. I was even considering purchasing the book I had picked up before she said what she did with her demenor. We both did not feel welcomed at all & I did not purchase the book as I felt like I was in such a negative hostile environment.
Beyond their expansive, well-chosen array of quality toys, equipment, books, and other products, The Art of Loving is run by highly knowledgeable and wonderful staff. Moreover, seminars are frequently held featuring some pretty high profile people in the scenes and communities the store caters to, and the store and its owners are very involved in the local community and local events. It's like a little sex-positive community centre! Easily my first pick of sex shops in Vancouver!
This store has a decent selection of sex toys, tons of amazing books, safer sex supplies, and even some BDSM gear. The staff are friendly and helpful without being overbearing, and their educational workshops are great. Great shop overall!
The Art of Loving succeeds in providing a great mix of products (lots of selection), advices (staff super friendly and always available to help) and education (the seminars are very informative and fun). All this is done in a very tasty, cool and down to earth atmosphere, promoting a positive and friendly experience. Love the place and the people working there! Highly recommended!
What a great place! I recommend it to everyone, it has quality products (nothing with that awful cheap plastic-y smell) as well as friendly and knowledgeable staff. The classes/seminars are a wonderful way to educate people and have a good time!
Went to a seminar on Giving Good Head. What fun! Didn't know the other attendees, but we all laughed, joked and learned a lot. For a small shop, they sure have a wide selection of good products and books. Knowledgable staff gave me great information and things to consider that I wouldn't have thought of. They take what can be an uncomfortable situation and make it so normal, and so positive that I left feeling empowered, grateful and excited to try new things. Definitely a gem of a store.
Staff was totally unhelpful and belittling when I asked for help with a specific product.
Ok service. Higher price for same products as other stores I have seen.
I love this place. They used to be over in Kits but have recently moved to Broadway and Cambie. I've been shopping here for a few years now and I am consistently impressed. They don't have a massive selection but they do have a bit of everything, and what they do have is really good quality. They don't sell cheap, garbage products.
Their staff are super helpful, and very knowledgeable. They also have a great selection of organic and natural lubes and massage oils, which seem to be hard to come by.
I noticed that another reviewer said that they charge too much, but I would like to point out that they aren't charging $20 for 4oz of cheap garbage lube. It's $20 for organic lube. Typically organic products cost more than their chemical laden counterparts. I mean really, would you rather pay $15 for a drugstore brand that has tons of chemicals in it, or spend a little extra and buy something that is safe to use and in many cases made in Canada? As a person who has a vagina I prefer to spend the extra $5. They also have natural lubes that are not organic, and therefore cost less.
Anyway, they really are a great store and one of the few that I haven't felt embarrassed to be seen going into.
Do not shop here, it's expensive and has little to choose from. For the most part whatever you can find here you can find elsewhere for a lot less.
