A sweet little something I caught while salmon fishing. I prefer these smaller catches but a nice tussle with a large salmon is always fun. I released this little steely.

Hey Guys! I went to a very popular river spot this weekend to salmon fish. It was very busy with many fisherman of all skill levels. I cant believe the amount of people that want to catch a salmon whom don't know how to fish. As well some characters purposefully snagging fish. Let me explain something here:
1) In Ontario, for a fish to be legally harvested, it must be caught IN THE MOUTH!
2) If you catch a fish and it is not hooked in the mouth, you must release it immediatel

So one night during my vacation in Quebec, at the hunting camp it was getting late and my uncle & his buddy had not returned. We had expected them back way early for supper.
My Dad and I decided to split up and go look for them. He went south to were we last saw them, I went north towards where they said they might be going to check out a bridge.
It was about 30min drive to the bridge from camp. We left when it was still light out. By the time I reached the bridge, it was twillight. Nice Dark blue and purple skies. Star where just coming out, it was beautiful.
Only 3 weeks before, my uncle had rolled and crashed his truck over a culvert when he came around a corner face to face with two moose. His truck was totalled but he only had very minor injuries.
I thought of all this while burning sage, sweet grass and tabacco. I tossed a hand full of tabcco over them bridge and hoped my uncle and his buddy were safe.
I got back to my car and drove back to the camp. On the way back i was blessed to come accross and small moose buck. It was a quick encounter and I continued back towards the camp and not 10 minutes later I saw a bear! I got that on the dashcam too.
The bear was less than 1km from the camp. He ran in the bush in the direction of the camp too. Anyways, as i got back in the car after taking ictures of the bear tracks, in the distance i saw a set of headlights. I was very close the fork for the camp so i approached as the headlights and I got to the fork at the same time. It was my dad. Good timing.
He neither had not found themWe told ourselves to go back to camp and think it out there. Back at camp I was telling my dad about the moose & bear and a set of headlight pulled into camp. They were back safe, they went exploring some crazy back trail in my uncles new truck

This is a beautiful set of rapids that i fished on my vacation. I camped out on the rocks with no tent. It got to 5*c in the night it was actually cold but lucky I had tons of driftwood to keep a fire going all night. The first evening, I caught 2 walleye. The next morning i got 3 more. On that day i saw some local cottagers and they got one too.
I decided to stay the second night, so that afternoon i treked back to my car on got my chainsaw. I cut up a crap load of drift wood. That evening a group of 6 canoers showed up and went to camp on the far beach. I offered them to stay where i was and point out that there might not be any firewood on the beach/island. A couple of them came back later and i helped them load their canoe full of firewood.
I survived that night, i heard it got to 2*c, i woke up a bit after the sun came up and tried to go catch my last walleye. I casted and pulled my line in with a bit of tension and i swear i felt a walleye 'toc' my streamer. I cast again exactly like i had just done and pulled in my line the same way as the last cast. BAM the walleye hit it again, this time set the hook proper and pulled his golden ass over the rock on the beach. Nice! 6 walleye, all in the slot.
I had no ice with me, so i had kept all my walleye in a small pool with running current so they could not escape. You can see this tiny pool in the video left of my net. the walleye were in there. The big pool in the middle of the rapids (thumbnail pic) on the side i was standing is where i got all the walleye :)

OH YEA!
A nice harvest at the end of my Quebec trip, all on the 11' 4wt, using a 3ips sinking line with 3.5' leader. 5 of the 6 walleye were caught o the bright olive zonker resting on my hook keeper. The one other was caught using a triple jointed brown bunny leech. Largest was 52cm @ 2.5lb and smallest was 42cm just under 1.5lb

I took last week off and went on my annual trek to Quebec to visit family and go off into the woods with my dad where he has been hunting and fishing his whole life. I have been doing these adventures with my dad ever since I was a small boy.
This year I went to his hunting camp and got to explore the area. One afternoon we went fishing on a nearby lake and I got schooled by the teacher himself. 36"x a whooping 15.5" girth.
He caught it with a 1oz silver 'ruby eye' . the red eye is my favorite pike lure. I tried with both my casting a fly rod and never even got a bite. He got one bite, one fish and back at the camp bragged all night about his 100% catch ratio as we showed photos to the guys.

This was my first Chinook of the season. I got super lucky and landed this big beautiful chromer on one of my hd-uv Glow Bugs; not more than half a scooby-snack worth of time after getting to the river that morning. Was using my 11' 7/8wt swtich with a 20ft homemade leader with built-in sighter.

Poor pooch
I went fishing this afternoon and found this guy across the river. I figured he was lost so i tried to call him over but he looked pretty tired. So I walked down stream to a shallow area, waded across and went and got him. He had tag with phone number but I left my phone in the car so I hooked up the dog to the lanyard of my net and we hiked back to the car.
I made some phone calls and got a hold of the owner. 15 mins later and she was there to p/u the dog. She thanked me and showed me a picture on her phone: a pool stacked with fish. She told me approximately where so I hiked over there.
DAM! it was two pools, STACKED, 50+ fish in each pool but they were not biting. I tried all different color flies and stayed till it got pretty dark out and head back home.
