Extremely pricey. Check up is $99.99+Tax which isn’t too bad. However, my green cheek had injured his foot. The doctor as soon as I walked in said his foot looked like it may have been dislocated or broken and that an x Ray would need to be taken. He, however did not advise me how much an x Ray would be however (it is $200+) after I asked. He was just going to take him for x Ray without notifying me of price. Then stated, my bird needs his leg identification band removed ($30) and needed anesthesia($70) and depending on x Ray would need either a splint or a surgery. Splint would be specially created (no price given but obviously really expensive) and surgery would be $2500. He said, that if my bird foot was broken it would be better than it being dislocated and stated if it was not broken they would break it. I did not expect any of this upon walking it. They did not even analyze my birds foot to see what was wrong. They did no checkup. I paid $112 for them to tell me prices. My bird was not cared for and no check up was done. I paid $112 to not know what was wrong with my birds foot but just left in a panic position. After hearing all these expensive numbers and finding out bird insurance does not exist I was left heartbroken. They clinic did not offer to notify other animals foundations of my situation or offer to write a letter in order for my bird to recieve any sort of donation. They told me I had no choice. One week after the injury, my bird was walking on BOTH feet and holding food in his injured foot and scratching with his injured foot. His foot was just sprained and the vet made me panic for no reason. He would have made me do an x ray and take my $. Thankfully, I waited it out for one week. I was so scared after hearing about all the prices that I could not afford. I called animal services and was going to surrender my pet so that he can receive the help and treatment he required as I could not bare to see him limping for the rest of his life. Thankfully I decided to wait it out and in one weeks worth of time my bird can now stay with me in a home where he can roam freely. Not in an animal shelter where he is not given the attention and love he deserves.
So glad I found this exotic vet. Dr. Axelson is very caring of rodents and gave me a better idea for my rat's diet. I just had a neuter done there and am pleased with the process and communication by the doctor. Fees are lower than the last awful vet I was at. He told me about some options but was honest about not needing them.
Deducting a point because I was told to arrive at 8:30 but the door was locked until 8:55. They assured me this has never happened before. Lisa was curt over the phone which I was not a fan of since the other receptionist told me to call to check in.
Many thanks to the staff and tech who were on hand Saturday September 2nd 2017. We and our cockatiel send you our feelings of gratitude. He was bleeding out of damaged blood feather that broke off just at his wing and I couldn't remove the leftover tube still lodged in his wing, but your tech could do it.
You also charged us a fair price for your help.
We will certainly keep Links road in mind if (hopefully never again) we have another issue.
Thank you again.
Thank you for all your kindness and professionalism. Wish your business best of luck.
We had to put down our ratty there :(
The doctor was the best you can imagine.
Highly disappointed with the attention and support for a case when immediat assistance was needed.
Several times now I was shocked to acknowledge how high fees and emergency fee on top of that are not supported by quality of care .
The well being of the suffering pet is always considered last.
Best exotic vet in the area, they know their stuff. Took care of my boys for the last few years. Super friendly and caring staff. Highly recommend
Been seeing Dr. Evan for my Budgies for the past 11 years; Fifi, Snowy, Aspen, and Dawn. Dr. Evan has been incredible taking the time to discuss their health.
Recently Aspen had encountered gout and after trying medication it didn't have the desired and hopeful effect. After weighing the options, Aspen was put to sleep and Dr. Evan and the entire staff were very supportive and caring. It was a difficult experience to place a pet to sleep, but I needed that support that particular day and the entire staff was there when I needed them
I give this two to three stars because I liked the Clinic and the other Vet but I did not like this Vet I dealt with, a Dr. N. It was a toxic encounter. When I first met her, she immediately berated me for lack of knowing how to care for my exotic pet. It is mean behaviourit is like slapping the hand that reaches out for help. I found her to be argumentative, disrespectful, arrogant, emotionally volatile, and unempathetic yet she is the most junior of all the veterinarians there. My pet has been living a long and generally healthy life so who is she to judge? At the time, Dr. N was unable to diagnose any problem, yet still prescribed antibiotics. I notice the medication fee is high, so if possible ask for a prescription. When I had to visit the Clinic again, I was surprisingly set up with her and her attitude was worse She did not fully explain the recommended treatments nor any alternatives, withheld important information, and was misleading as to my pet's treatments. As such, I am not comfortable trusting her communications. When I questioned her further, she has the skills but I did not feel she had enough knowledge of certain exotics as she may claim . As well, she gives too many drugs without any consideration for the risks or side effects. She also rushes through the appointment, but I heard she is not like that with all customers. I found her unprofessional and very, very difficult. This Dr. N. seems to practice "old school" medicine whereby she did not communicate much to me the client in advance. She is foreign trained. She seems to like to have everything done her way, when she is not the one paying and is not the Owner of the petnot good at collaborating with the client. It seemed as if she expects the customer to cater to her preferences, when it should be the other way. Imo, I was deceived, she can be very convincing to hide her mistakes.
My suggestion to others is to be sure you get everything in writing before you agree to anything.
Once she had my business, there was no follow up on the status of my pet. Dr. N's attitude/behavior has caused me far too much stress at a time when I needed to keep it together for my sick pet. I have absolutely NO interest in dealing with her again. It is not safe for pets to be in the company of a Vet who easily directs her frustrations at people. It is very unpleasant going to a Clinic where the first thing the Vet does is criticize the pet owner and then is dishonest. There are more respectful ways to treat a customer. I wish there were more exotic pet vets from which to choose.
Seem busy promoting themselves that sometimes they are insensitive to the customer. Furthermore, given that there does not seem to be exotic pet vets open all weekend, I would feel it irresponsible adopting anymore of such pets.
Very friendly staff generally. Professional and their knowledge of exotic birds is very good. Although the front receptionist answered a call while I was waiting to pay, I think you should always deal with the person in front of you first and then deal with the phone. But still I always have an overall good experience.
I want to thank Rick and all the staff for the caring, compassionate and thoughtful way they dealt with Joey (our 50 year old African Grey) as he reached end of life today. I have had experiences with vets in the past that were far from caring as they euthanized pets, but this was the easiest transition I have ever known. Everything was thoughtfully handled. Thank you all.
We took our bearded dragon to the clinic today. What a great experience! We had our appointment with Dr. Evan Mavromatis. He has reptiles as pets, and clearly was not only very knowledgable, but has a real fondness for them. He was great with our girl! The appointment was expensive, but worth every pennyWe got a ton of info and helpful tips for caring for our bearded dragon going forward. We left very very happy!
Brought my hedgehog here for a checkup yesterday because he was sneezing a little. Love the atmosphere, the secretary is super sweet and accommodating, and the doctor that we saw was very patient with my nervous little guy. Overall a great experience. I was just surprised at the cost of the appointment, but that may be because I've never had an experience at a vet before, so I didn't know what to expect in terms of cost, to begin with.
