Best fish and chips I know of in Victoria. Try the seafood chowder, unique and delicious. Downside is the wait Almost never less than 30 minutes. Often closer to an hour. Nice spot on the wharf in good weather. Outside dining with minimal shelter available.

As you line in front of Red Fish Blue Fish there are a row of umbrellas with signs telling the you about how long your wait will be. My wife and I started at the umbrella labeled "30 minutes to front" and it was indeed about a half hour until we reached the window, where we ordered four different items of the menu. Smooth 5 or 10 minutes for the food to come out.

It was well worth the wait on a sunny fall day. Tuna was beautifully seared. Portions were generous. I also ordered a few of the salmon tacos which were silky and filling. Great place for a seaside lunch.

Oh my god. That’s really all I need to say. For those that want more:
Yes, there is a long line (almost always). Yes, it’s not unheard of to wait an hour. YES, it’s worth it. So unbelievably worth it for the wait and I DETEST lines and I will wait however long it takes. I first had the 1 piece halibut and I was worried it may not be enough (boy was I wrong) so while I was waiting I saw someone order the clam chowder and it looks amazing and while I had too much food at this point (poster child for eyes bigger than stomach) the clam chowder (which I’m not normally a fan of) has me craving more two weeks later.

There is a notoriously long line and wait for the fish here. I can see why people wait for hours on end for a taste. The seafood chowder is out of this world (Like a Thai Coconut Curry, but not) And the fish and chips were perfect.

Contentious as my statement may be, after eating fish and chips all across this lovely city, this was the best.

Al fresco dining only at Red Fish Blue Fish. There's not much to add to the accolades. The fish and chips are excellent. You can get grilled fish with your chips if you prefer. The tacos are fresh. The oysters are juicy. The sandwiches have a great balance of flavours. Chowder is yummy too!

Excellent staff. Green composting practices.

My absolute favorite restaurant on the island! Freshest seafood around ( they are so busy it doesn't have time to get old! ) Real French fries, always a bonus. My favorite menu item is the Cod Dog. This is a great place for kids and the whole family! Eat there on the docks or take home!

Excellent food. Order and pickup window. Eat outside, seaside. Customer service was above average - they volunteered a way for me to combine orders to save money and get almost the same amount of food. Waiting in line can be 15 minutes wait. Waiting line is covered, if it's raining. Views of the boats, water and seagulls.

The clam chowder here is absolutely awesome. Everything I've ever had from this place is great. Definitely somewhere you have to try when you come to Victoria. There is covered seating available so you can look out over the harbour as you enjoy your delicious, locally sourced seafood!

This is one of my favourite lunch options. Red Fish Blue Fish has a great reputation with both locals and visitors. Expect to line up when the weather is nice (it pays to be strategic about when you drop by--try earlier or later than lunch hour). I recommend the tacones (grilled tortilla with coleslaw and your choice of tuna/salmon/cod/jerk fish blend). There is limited outdoor seating along the pier, but takeout is a good alternative when it gets crowded.
It's fast, it's fresh and it's really good fish.

The line for this place is incredibly long. I recommend setting aside an hour or so if you're going to give Red Fish Blue Fish a try. The food is great though.

Is the food worth the wait? Some will say yes, and some will say no. There are other places for great fish and chips if you're pressed for time.
