Robin Hood meets the neighborhood. This gorgeous ravine trek under the canopy of west coast Douglas Firs, Arbutus and gently wafting Maple leafery is nestled on a rolling parcel of UVic land/Saanich-protected from development in perpetuity. Mostly shaded with patchwork sunshine, it is a cool getaway on a hot summer day and a refreshing jaunt under showers on rainy days. The fern fringed, meandering, compressed dirt and mulch trail does dip and roll along Hobbs Creek, and there are stairs-this is a sloping gully-but there are stretches completely accessible to the adventuring person with moderate physical challenges. Even a wheel chair could venture through sections with some assistance. To sit and read or picnic for a time does not require excesses in mobility. This jaunt is a must do. Romance, intrigue, yoga, poetry, painting, photography, discreet snogging, dog rompus, meditation, cross country run, tree bathing, tai chi, you name it-Mystic Vale is a Victoria destination worth pursuing. Wear trekking shoesor bare feet. Take more than an hour or crash through cardio style.
