Holy Guacamole! Avocados are good for Eye Health!
They are great for your eye health as they contain an abundance of nutrients essential for healthy eyes. They contain Lutein, a natural form of carotenoid in avocados, which is good news, as the fat in avocados helps absorption of this naturally occurring antioxidant. Lutein is essential as it provides protection for the macula. It is important that Lutein is received daily as the body does not synthesize it. Eating Avocados often is a great way to prevent Macular Degeneration and Cataracts!

Myth or Fact?
UV damage to the eyes can be reversed.
Myth!
It’s the long-term effects, the cumulative exposure to UV light, that causes more of the harmful disease to the eye (such as cataracts and macular degeneration). So don’t be fooled! Wear your sunglasses 😎

Everyone gets Cataracts. It's one of those things you get with age, like wisdom (?). Cataracts are the clouding of the lens inside our eyes that have been with us since day one. They change colour naturally with time and sun exposure. It feels like looking through dirty glasses except you can't clean them. The only way to treat cataracts is to surgically remove the lenses and replace them with clear artificial ones when they are ready. Easy, right?

Today is a first at ParkviewJean Day!
We are running (more like walking) our first Mudmoiselle on July 7th so we have all paid to wear our comfy clothes! Our amazing staff have also been running a book sale and patients have been happy to donate with all of the money going to the Canadian Cancer Society! Nine more days and these t-shirts won’t be white anymore!
