Are you supposed to be working on a term paper right now? Are you scrolling through your Facebook feed instead of working on your big presentation for work? Have you been putting off cleaning your bedroom all night? You are? Good, acknowledging you have a problem is the first step. Now why on Earth do we find ourselves stuck in this never-ending cycle of procrastination and why can't we just buckle down and get our work done? If you're procrastinating anyway you may as well read this article about procrastination while you're procrastinating and get down to the bottom of it. https://bit.ly/2QqLUqN

Serena Williams made international headlines this week for a series of emotional confrontations with her umpire at the U.S. Open Final.

Regardless of whether you feel Serena or her umpire was in the right, the tone of the conversation around this clash has certainly differed from situations where a man in sports has been involved in public confrontations with rule-makers.

Was Serena being hysterical or was she simply treated unfairly because of her sex? https://bit.ly/2x0wb91

If you've been anywhere near a university or college campus recently, you know that Laptops and smartphones have become accepted facets of college and university classrooms, often seeing encouragement and integration by professors.

But in our rush to remain on the cutting edge, we haven't really stopped to properly ask the question of whether more technology in classrooms actually improves learning or not. There are clear advantages and disadvantages, read up about them here https://bit.ly/2NuuAzj and decide for yourself!

Toronto on balance is exceptionally safe. The Economist actually recently ranked Toronto as the 4th safest city in the world (https://bit.ly/2kKbhrO), but that doesn't mean we're protected from isolated instances of extreme, deadly violence.

A lone gunman opened fire on the Danforth last week leaving 2 dead, 13 injured, and the rest of us wondering how this happened and how to move on. Here are some strategies directly from the APA to help you manage your grief and find a way to push forward in this difficult time. https://bit.ly/1edzdYN

Tragically, according to the National Institute of Mental Health, the suicide rate rose by 28% between 1999 and 2016; making prevention more important now than ever before.

But thankfully, we're making inroads with prevention. New research shows that brief, targeted interventions in the ER cause suicide attempt rates to plunge by almost 50% over the next 6 months! Read more: https://bit.ly/2LCgMlo

If you've ever sought out relationship advice (and maybe even if you haven't), you've heard the age-old saying: "never go to bed angry."

It makes sense in principle, why give up on finding a solution, stay angry, and potentially turn to a night of tossing and turning?

The reality is, though, that reducing the circumstantial contributors that make fighting more likely- like being hungry or tired- may actually lead to better long-term relationship health (i.e. sleeping may be better than toughing it out and continuing a difficult discussion when you're already running on empty.
