Booked through a third party site. Didn't get the email detailing that we needed to go to their office to check in at a different site and not the condo. Drove to the condo address given to us by the booking website, which is a residential condo. There was no concierge, no directions if you booked through Ostays, no way to get in. Called Ostays but only got to the voicemail (first call). On their voicemail they had their office address. Drove to the office, could. Not. Find. It. Their front door is nestled between two patio tables. Not joking. Their door had their logo but it was propped open, obscuring their logo. No signs anywhere visible from the sidewalk. Called again and got VM. Left message this time. I eventually had to ask the hostess at the restaurant to find the entrance. After all this, it's been 2 hours later. Complained to the front desk person since manager wasn't around. They were nice enough but blamed third party booking agent. I emailed the manager but she basically said she would check if I got the email. No response yet and was not empathic about the situation. I would not recommend O stays. Did not like their communication or their treatment of my complaints. Oh, the place was nice Not the company.
Vetro 2 bedroom.
Nice room. Clean. Quiet. Bed's were comfortable. Neighbourhood was a bit seedy.
Service was mediocre at best. They should stop advertising themselves as a hotel because the service was no where near what even to what a 2-3 star hotel delivers.
Based on room alone I would give a 4 star review. Due to the incredibly disappointing service I am giving them a 2 star review.
When I booked my room I was led to believe that there would be parking I could book when I checked in. When I checked in I was informed that there was no parking available with the suite I had reserved. When I questioned the young lady at the desk she shrugged and told me to park on the street. When I asked what parking facilities were available nearby she told me she didn't know.
When I go to my room there was actually a FAQ card in the room that informed me I could book parking for $25 a night by contacting the registration desk. When I contacted them they told me again that there was not for my suite.
I ended up paying to park in a surface lot across the street. While it was affordable, this was not a nice area of town. There is an addiction centre next to the parking lot and I witnessed a few fist fights on the sidewalk in front of it. There is a large homeless community in the immediate area. None of this would have been an issue had I had a parking spot under the building. Instead I had the pleasure of sharing the sidewalk in front of the building with intoxicated and occasionally violent street people. While I sympathize with these individuals' situation they definitely made a person feel unsafe while entering and exiting the building.
The other issue I have is the housekeeping fee. It is charged in addition to the room rate. To be clear there was no housekeeping at all while I occupied the room. When you check in you are forced to initial a paper stating that you understand you are expected to remove all the garbage from the unit, load and start the dishwasher and put your towels in the bathtub when you leave or you will be charged extra. This is not hotel service.
Ostays delivers very little in the way of hotel services and has a very unresponsive staff. As much as I liked the room I am hesitant to recommend them because of the poor quality of "hotel" service.
There was also no dishwasher detergent in the room and I could only find one garbage bag.
Great little condo in good location for great price! I loved having an entire apartment to myself and when I discovered the washing machine had a fault, they replaced it same day. Can't fault that! Only downside was that condo was basement, which I didn't realise before, but it still had windows and enough light. I really enjoyed the experience and location.
What an incredible hotel. Steps away from 17th, but located on a quiet street, this hotel has proven to be the best decision I've made in awhile. Clean and comfortable apartments with hot modern design enable me to enjoy all the comforts of home as a visitor to Calgary.
Check-in was smooth and easy, parking is right outside and the building is immaculate. High-pressure showers (hard to find in many places!) are really important to me, and at no point have I had any issues with hot water, unlike an experience at the Hyatt a few years ago.
The building is quiet, the location is central, the staff have been amazing, responding to any concern right away and thoroughly resolving the issue (only issue I encountered was that I was unsure how to use the washer, they explained it quickly and simply and offered to send someone over in case I had further trouble. I didn't.)
Cannot recommend this place strongly enough. You'd be foolish to stay anywhere else.
Standing ovation for the the Ovation.
The condition of the suite was incredible. Everything was perfect and the room we got for the price I paid was ridiculously awesome! The only downsides of my experience were that the Check-in/Check-out processes were a little bit annoying, as the office is 6-9 minutes driving from the room. Also, even though it was clearly written on the papers that we were two tenants for the weekend, we only got 1 set of key/access card. Other than that, I would give 5 stars out of 5.
Staying at the apartment downtown and it was great value for money. Place Was modern style, clean and staff were lovely
Very good two bed rooms suite with a reasonable price for 4 people. Very clean and has all facilities what you need to do. But this condo is included $30 for cleaning in addition to the rate of room + Parking fee $25 daily.
The hotel experience was positive -- I had five out-of-towners coming in for business conference; the rooms were clean, bright and the stay was awesome. It would have been better if there is a key pick-up and drop-off that's closer to the apartment/hotel location.
So we booked a suite at O Stays Keynote 2 in Calgary, Alberta for a nice little holiday only to arrive to a damaged and dirty room that was not ready for us. In fact maintenance was in the suite as we walked in the door. We were told by maintenance that they could not get into the suite earlier to clean as repairs needed to be done asap. It was instead being repaired for a viewing for a potential buyer (we overheard a couple meeting the realtor in the lobby). It appears as if when you book your booking could be compromised with no notice whatsoever. Anyways, we had to wait for the management on a peddle bike to bring us a replacement key for an alternate suit (different tower than promised) and that took an hour. Waiting with tired kids in the lobby was fun and not the greatest when you already have plans and have limited time to spare. Anyways when we arrived at our alternate suite it was poorly cleaned with a foot print on the inside bed sheet, hair in the corners of the bathroom, 2 crooked picture frames and worse yet a shower we could not use as it had at least 15 square tiles missing on the floor bottom that our toes could easily get cut on with very sharp edges. We had to check out earlier than 10 as you have to return your keys only after a terrible nights sleep on the cheapest Ikea mattress, terrible pillows and 2 bed sheets that feel like plastic. On top of that get billed for a service fee of $30 plus $25 parking plus 12% cleaning fee and then on top of that tax. You are best to stay at The Palliser Hotel at this point as your final total will be at least $55 more than the advertised booking price! A complete waste of time and a complete disappointment.
The Ostays concept is great, however there are a few things they could improve to make the whole experience more comfortable. We stayed at the Legacy building in a 2-bedroom unit. The second bedroom had no windows, which isn't safe or comfortable at all. The unit had no proper dining table. The dishes were second-hand and some were dirty and rusted. We didn't have enough dishwasher pods, no extra trash bags, no plastic containers or plastic wrap for leftover food These are all small details, but they added up quickly. Overall, it was better than a hotel room, but not by much.
