I booked based on price point so I expected a pretty basic room. I tend to stay in lower price motels so I know what to typically expect.
The room was basic but ok for the price. The lobby, elevator, and hallway all smelled strongly of marijuana.
The first night I tried to have a bath but the 2 chips out of the drain ring caused a significant leak as the tub was filling. I stuffed a facecloth around the drain to slow the leak in order to get the tub to fill.
There was a cigarette burn in the comforter of my non smoking room and the room had a smoke smell, I assume from using bedding from smoking floors in non smoking rooms.
There is no coffee maker, fridge, or microwave in the rooms. I could do without the fridge & microwave but a coffee maker would be appreciated.
The windows were dirty and a dead bug was even in 1 corner of the windowsill.
Walls are paper thin and people talking in the hallway and adjoining room could be heard as clearly as though they were sitting right in my room. It appears as though NO soundproofing has been added to the walls.
There is a Kelsey's, a breakfast restaurant, and a Tim Hortons right across the parking lot which is extremely convenient!
Overall it's a good location and a good price point but is in serious need of overall regular maintenance & better attention to cleanliness.
The rooms were clean and very acceptable. I did find it too warm.
However I found the overall environment not very good. Maybe the clientele are not the quality I am used to.
It was smoky - people must have been smoking in their rooms.
It was noisy at night with people shouting in the halls. Domestic dispute between man and woman around 3am.
There were obviously very stoned young people on the elevator with me and hanging around the parking lot.
Good service and rooms have a well layout including your handy-cap rooms.
Please take note ---- not all handy cap people need full handy-cap rooms. I need what is called "ease of access" meaning I need to be able to get to my room with my walker, with minimal walking and on the first floor.
Great room, good size, clean, your own temperature control. The only issue was the number of towels in the room. For one person, the towels were small and you only get two towels so not enough. Yes, you can ask for more but would be better if it came pre-stocked.
If I could give it more than five stars, I would. My mom and I stayed here for a couple of weeks for July and into August. The rooms are clean and the AC worked really well, especially on hot days. Management and staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. You have to request a fridge and sometimes the guests can get a little loud running and talking in the hallway, but that's to be expected and all the said guests were extremely friendly as well. It's pet friendly, which is a plus! (For us, anyway. We had a dog, and it's hard to find hotels and motels that are pet friendly!) It's a wonderful hotel, and I would recommend it if you need a place to stay in the Whitby and Oshawa area.
Edit: We stayed through August to September 30th, too. I still can't express how great the staff are, from the front desk to room service to the managers.
Everything was quiet, clean and comfortable. We could have done with a TV guide to know what programming was on. It took a long time to find the channel we wanted to watch.
The ice machine down the hall is very noisy. I wondered why anyone would be using a carpet cleaner or some similar noisy piece of equipment when we were trying to settle to sleep. It turned off after several minutes. I wouldn't have wanted a room close to it. Otherwise our stay was satisfactory.
Overall, a very good experience. We liked the convenient location, bright and spotlessly clean rooms, spacious and well-lit parking lot. Staff, guests and their dogs all seemed to be happy to be there.
Only real complaint was the high price, but it was a long weekend, so expected I guess.
Otherwise just minor gripes about the room (333): beds were a bit soft and one of the pillows was in rough shape; shower pressure was low and valve made loud noises when we turned it; electrical outlet over the table was broken.
Overall I had an okay experience at Motel 6 - Whitby. I stayed at the motel for a total of 5 nights. The first evening was fine other than some rowdy visitors of the motel late in the evening. The stay throughout the week was fine, other than not receiving room cleaning services for two days in a row. I had to go down to the front desk to see if room cleaning had been around during the day as I was out all day and figured my room would be serviced while I was away. I was informed that the rooms were supposed to have been cleaned, mine wasn't. The front desk apologized and gave me some towels to tie me over to the next day.
Overall it was an okay stay, you basically get what you pay for. The staff was friendly overall, and the stay was average.
I booked a room with Motel 6 in Whitby during a time when hotel rooms were hard to come by. I was both excited & hesitant to find a room available for half the price of any other nearby hotel.
This hotel exceeded all my expectations! The staff were helpful and friendly. My room was exactly what I needed for my stay and was clean and comfortable. Having a guest laundry facility on my floor was also a huge bonus.
I would definitely book here again.

Location is great right by 401 lot of restaurants and fast food near by. Price very reasonable. Room clean tidy no extras basic needs
I was able to get the last room at 12:30am. Checked in fast, room was quick to get to. Great looking room and could not hear hwy noise. Could hear what was going on in motel though and cars just outside motel. Had a good short sleep before leaving.
We stayed two nights with other family members in other various rooms. The reception staff were very helpful and polite. The room was very clean, thank you housekeeping. There are a couple of reason we rated it a three. First we did not have a fridge and found out on the second night some rooms did. We would like to have been given the option of a room with or without. We have never in all our many years of travelling stayed in such a small room! No room for a comfy chair and the two wooden ones were extremely uncomfortable. Had to sit on the bed to read. A coffee pot would have been nice. All in all we are used to more amenities so would stay at a more upscale hotel in the future.
Room was decent, you get what you pay for. Check in and check out was easy and quick, friendly staff. Clean room although the floor could have been swept/mopped (laminate flooring) to remove some of the dirt and stains. The lights were a bit weird when turning on, thought the bulb was going to explode and the curtains could use some updating, don't stay closed very well. Good stay overall. Would stay here again.
So our bill had some hidden fees which were not explained to me. 79.99 plus tax does not come to just under 98 dollars.
No fridge. no microwave. Room was clean to a degree but housekeeping did not clean behind toilet and under sink. My wife noticed this when she took a bath.
The likely hood of us staying there again is very slim. basically only if i really had to.
