The management is very approachable. Although there tends to be a mess left behind by some of the tenants there are always staff members who are quick to clean and better the situation. Its right by the beach and minutes away from West 4th. Easiest place to stay in Vancouver.

Very friendly staff, 24 hour TV room, comfy bunk bed. It's a hostel so it gets a little loud and busy, but other than that it was perfect. My first hostel stay and I will definitely be back next year.

They have weekly activities with reasonable prices. I joined the bike tour, love it! And i met this Poland girl during the tour, i'm interested by the way she talks and she has a lovely Cannon 5D Mark III (i assumed) but i forgot to ask her name, so just in case that she ever read this comment, please email me and sent the pictures you have taken for me and my friends. Bedbugs. Once in 2015 and again just now in 2017. These beds (the whole place was designed in a time when bedbugs seemed to be scarce) are made in a style that makes 100% cleaning impossible on a daily basis impossible. I've dealt with Bedbugs in NYC sro's, (single room occupancy) TO, Alaska and of course Vancouver. Seriously, this whole place is dumpy but u get what you pay for. $30 a night ain't bad.
The staff should spray down the entire area with 70 alcohol. Yeah, it's kind of pathetic how little things change when so many people use it.
There's no hooks for clothes in the dorm, only 2 towel racks, they took away the ac plugs so everyone now crowds in the lobby for phone charging.
On the plus side, the resto is open for good coffee and breakfast.

I was expecting this hostel to not be as good as its downtown counterparts, but I couldn't have been more wrong. It's well located nearby the beach and some sporting facilities and its facilities were of a higher standard than most of the hostels I'm used to. Secure bike storage was also a massive convenience too and, on that, I'd thoroughly recommend having a bike in this area given that public transit access isn't the best. Furthermore, the staff were great and the rates were among the lowest I've seen in the area. My only real qualm was that the front desk was understaffed at times, so expect a bit of a wait for any inquiries. Nevertheless, I'd heartily recommend staying here.

Spent two weeks touring Canada with hostels and all BUT this one were amazing. One reception staff member checking us in was unhelpful, separating couples travelling together despite there been availability in adjoining beds. Rooms were huge (sharing with 19 people), no sockets in the bedrooms, and bathrooms were absolutely vile. Would definitely not recommend and would not return even if it was free. Toilets blocked full of excrement, showers blocked so standing in other people's dirty water. Thankfully I was travelling with others or I wouldn't have felt safe and certainly wouldn't have stayed

Hostel is clean and well organized. I've been enjoying my time here. The kitchen is large with gas stove tops and plenty of storage space. Beds are comfortable and clean and staff is friendly and gracious.

Overall it was a pleasant experience, I enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere only thing I didn't like had been the washrooms. Some had old towels in the showers the and they were was underwear on the floor for an entire day.

Comfy beds, but no individual lights within a dorm for 14 people. Nice quiet location (Jericho Beach) but need to hop on a bus for twenty minutes to hit the city (which is awesome, but the way). Good service by the guys and girls there, though it's a shame the on-site cafe (not run by HI) has limited opening hours.

What a wonderful place where you gonna feel not only welcome but also like in a big castle full of travelers right in the middle of your personal castle garden and along a great, not to crowded beach. I have stayed here with my girlfriend for three nights in a 16bed dorm but through a smart move of the hostel by splitting up the sections into 4beds each it felt much smaller. Great place where I would always stay again before a downtown hostel.

Very little social atmosphere as the place is so huge. The location could be better - about 45 minutes by bus into downtown. The fridges smelled slightly moldy, otherwise a nice hostel. Wifi is great.
