An awesome place . Awesome food. Great service. I was more than a little ticked at having my tip decided for me. Do I not have freedom of choice. Whether it's s big party or not please let people decide how much to tip.

This Afghan good place is one of the most unique in the city. The food is ridiculously good, the environment is very ambient and cozy, and the live music always adds an extra touch.
The food is expensive if you get single dishes. I would highly recommend the all you can eat menu thats 30 bucks but you get to try many different things. The salmon is so delicious

East is East boasts live music, a very cool middle eastern interior with quartz on the walls, incense and these tables and chairs made of stumps and tree trunks. The servers were friendly and the atmosphere authentic. It was very busy and food took a while to arrive. I ordered the roti roll with chicken. it was delicious. It's pricey but the experience is worth it. They do charge extra when you visit if live music is playing. Also if it's a weekend night you need a reservation.

One of the head waitresses was rude to us while arranging seating even though we had made reservations. A waitress asked if “everything was okay with the service” because I did not tip using my credit card. She didn’t know that I had left a big cash tip on the table, but I still found it a little rude. Still worth a try if you have not been. The food is good. This location serves alcohol but their West Broadway one does not.

I enjoy the chai tea here. So creamy. I also enjoy the live music they sometimes have. Food is good for sharing. Good experience.

Good food, a bit pricey. They serve Alkaline water which is neat and you get a sample of Chai which is the equivalent of about 2 tbsp. Warm atmosphere with Himalayan salt candles and backlit brick walls. Friendly servers. The entertainment was the same as when I was there 2 years ago. They charge you 3.00 extra for entertainment in addition to the higher priced food. I'm a vegetarian and the veg food is priced cheaper and there are several vegan options as well.

Everyday is a fest for me. So lucky, got to eat at East is East. Love their food, atmosphere, everything was great. The only thing was the service. We do understand the place was busy and almost always. However, then they should be able to hire more staff. Took long time to order and a while waiting for food. Do not go when you feel starving for sure.

It's a lovely cozy place. The music and the atmosphere has elegance written all over it. Only mild complain is that the portions were really small. So a perfect place if someone else is treating you ;-)

Fun atmosphere good food, but I was in a large group. I paid almost as much for the gratuity as I did for my food. I have no problem with a "fixed" gratuity, but take 18% of what I ordered, not the $500+ bill for all of us & divide that up between us all. I don't agree with that. I would go back for the food, but maybe do takeout.

I love this place and was so excited to bring my parents here! The food was delicious as always, and it came out very quickly. The service was very good and the Feast is such a great way to try many different plates and leave very satisfied - just come hungry! There is live music every night and this night was fantastic - flamenco dancers! We felt like we were transported out of Vancouver and that we were in another country, both due to the food and the atmosphere. Definitely recommend. Wonderful experience!

Was chosen as the restaurant for a birthday everything, from the service to decent, quality food and the music was flawless. The servers were kind and friendly, the atmosphere was one of a kind. Definitely will keep visiting!

We really enjoy coming here, beautiful inside and love their food. It's a great choice for a mixed group that includes vegetarians, as there are many tasty choices for them.
But - the service is on the slow side, and the seating, which is chairs made of reclaimed tree limbs or hard benches, is really uncomfortable. They look neat, but they really suck to sit in. Maybe that's part of the authentic experience. We don't eat here as often as I'd like because if anyone in my group has back issues, they can't tolerate sitting there for an hour.
It wouldn't be difficult or expensive to provide proper foam padding on the benches (they are covered with carpets and have no cushioning) at the very least. Much thought was obviously put into the interior design and the food to create an enjoyable and relaxing environment, and I would love to see the seating be improved.
