It is completely possible to beat your addiction on your own or in your own way! The strength and will power we have as human beings is unbelievable. You just have to believe and fight for what you want and where you want to be! It is within us to grow, adapt and evolve as a person regardless of what we are faced with in life.
I did attend Edgewood for a short time when I was having difficulty in my life with using drugs and I did learn some valuable information and shared some memorable experiences.
I cannot recommend their services due to the fact I myself did not complete their program, therefore my reccomendation can not be valid, due to lack of knowledge and experience.
I can say that the staff were kind and compassionate and seemed to be knowledgeable. They did their best to make it a comfortable environment to be in.

After ten years of reflecting on this, I decided that I would write a review on Edgewood. My son lived in Seattle and when we were finally able to get him into a rehab center, my sister decided to take him to Edgewood. My son walked out of the facilities after 5 days and they had a rule there, if you walk out, you cannot come back. Fine, he broke the rules, but here's the ugly part. Even after he came to realize it was a mistake to walk out pennyless and nowhere to go, they wouldn't take him back in even though I had paid in full. He was pennyless and they dropped him off at a park with no means of going anywhere. On top of that, they would not refund any of the $25,000 I put down for his treatment. They eventually gave me back $10,000. I am not wealthy and this was out of my pocket since my son had no health insurance. I live on the east coast and had to call them to have them locate my son and buy him a ticket back to Seattle. They argued that the rules were told to him from the beginning to which I said, if my son had a brain not laced with drugs, I would not have had him go there. The people that run this place are unethical and cruel. I am still amazed to this day by what happened there.

I came here and completed the program with a "good" predicted recovery rating. I relapsed within the first month of being sent home. I went for a behavioral addiction. Although they claim to treat behavioral addiction, this is very clearly a substance primary facility. VERY limited behavioral addiction support, if your issue is primarily substance addiction, it would be a great place. Their resources, focus, experience and programming for behavioral addictions (Sex, Gambling, Eating Disorders, Shopping, Exercise etc.) is incredibly limited, so if your primary addiction is behavioral or you have a significant behavioral cross-addiction I would look south of the border (especially if you are paying out of pocket). Also they are more into relapse shaming, rather than continued support post-treatment. Although they also claim to treat underlying issues, myself and many others I went here with left with our co-occurring disorders and underlying issues unaddressed. They also use the vulnerability of patients undergoing treatment to coerce them into extending their stay and use public shaming techniques to convince them to sign up for their "extended" program, which raises some ethical business practice concerns for many that have attended. Luckily, I didn't have to pay out of pocket (my healthcare plan covered it) as I have been recommended to now seek treatment in the US that specializes in behavioral addiction. Although I am grateful that my employer sent me here as the foundation for my recovery, if I had to do it again I would insist on going to a treatment center that focused on my addiction.

Save your money and go anywhere else. I went to Edgewood over 10 years ago. They are money motivated, once they get you in for a 42 day stay and get 25 grand from your parents or loved ones, they then will call up your parents and ask for more money. And like the othet person reviewed, they take your 25 grand and if the patuent walks out or leaves you will be lucky to get 10 grand vack.. $15,000 for 1 day?! Now that is what I call preying on human suffering!
They knew my parents had money, so they called them up and told them I would die and relapse unless they sent more money.lots more money! If the beds in inpatient care are getting empty, they just keep the current patients longer.. I am 100 sure of this, I suspected it but I Talked To An Ex Councilor of Edgewood at an AA meeting (I am sober for over 7 years from AA) he confirmed that at Edgewoods weekly meetings to discuss patient progress management would say, no one's leaving this week because no one's on the wait list to fill the empty beds. In AA, step 1 is the most important step, all Edgewood did was help me realize that "No human power could have relieved my alcoholism" and AA, through the work of the steps EXACTLY AS THEY ARE LAID OUT IN THE BOOK ALCOHOLICS ANONYMOUS, and not the weird adaptations this treatment center gets you to do, I found out that "God (Good Orderly Direction) could and would if he were sought" BB pg 60
This is my experience, AA has taught me that my experience is my most important assett. Alcoholism and addiction are awful and very few ever recover. 2 of my best friends growing up died from this disease, actually one of the went to Edgewood at one point.
On a positive note, I hated it there so much it gave me the motivation to go to 3 AA meeting a day for my first year of recovery, I figured that was better than going to treatment..lol hope this help, and good luck on your journey

This place changed my attitude on life. Once I let go and let the process take its course everything started to become clear. I was trying to control life myself and it was very hard to give up that illusion of control. I dealt with things there I had no idea where part of my addictions. I can say today that I am clean and sober and able to help others who want the same thing. The gift is priceless. What they do there worked for me hands down.

Words cannot describe the gratitude I have for this facility and its staff. Incredible people and an incredible program overall. Highly recommend Edgewood for anyone considering a treatment facility; the program is top tier and the work you do within those walls builds a very strong foundation for recovery on the outside.
