Toronto, ON- September 17, 2018 - Last week, The Trews released their sixth full-length studio album Civilianaires and today they're excited to announce they will be bringing these brand new songs out on the road at the top of 2019. The tour will take them across the country kicking off in Vancouver with stops through Edmonton, Calgary, Toronto and more, see below for full list of tour dates. Civilianaires is the band's most fearless record yet with personal and political lyrics driven by a refreshing new sound. The Trews approached Civilianaires, their electrifying and wildly original follow-up to 2014's The Trews, the way a contractor tackles a kitchen reno: tearing things down to the studs, then building out piece by new piece. "We're almost in existential-crisis-mode if we don't have new songs we're excited about," guitarist/songwriter John-Angus MacDonald says, "With us it's always 'What's next?' We're most galvanized while we're creating. And this new album is a completely fresh take on what we've done before."
It features production credits from up and comer Derek Hoffman (The Elwins, Seaway) and the legendary Bob Rock. The band also worked alongside Max Kerman from Arkells, who co-wrote and co-produced their second single "Vintage Love", along with a co-write with Serena Ryder on the title track.
With multiple radio hits drawn from six scorching studio albums plus several EPs, a pair of live records, and a retrospective, The Trews are among the most prolific, electrifying, and innovative rock bands. The Nova Scotia-bred, Hamilton /Toronto -based combo of singer/guitarist Colin MacDonald, guitarist John-Angus MacDonald, bassist Jack Syperek, and drummer Chris Gormley - songwriters all - has won universal acclaim for both their dazzling live performances and wildly accessible songs.

Meet Sasktel Search for the Stars Judge: Jay Semko
Jay Semko is known internationally as singer/bassist with multiple JUNO Award nominees and Western Canadian Music Hall of Fame members The Northern Pikes, and as an award winning music composer for numerous film and TV productions, including the syndicated series, "Due South". He is considered one of Canada’s premiere singer/songwriters, with 10 solo albums released, and has co- written and recorded with many of the best songwriters and musicians in music.
Jay has recently released a new solo album, entitled “Never Sent” - a collection of 10 new songs, and in June 2018 he and the other members of the Northern Pikes were presented with the SOCAN Classic Award for their single “She Ain’t Pretty” receiving over 100,000 plays on Canadian radio. Jay continues to tour across Canada with the Northern Pikes and as a solo acoustic artist, sharing his songs, stories and adventures from his life in music.

Meet Sasktel Search for the Stars Judge: Kayleigh Skomorowski
Kayleigh Skomorowski is a singer songwriter, wind band director and music educator based in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. Originally from Saskatoon, she began her musical education as a young child playing piano and singing in music ministry at her family parish. She continued to develop a deep passion for music throughout her high school years as she was involved in various wind and jazz band ensembles, as well as concert choir and vocal jazz at the community, school and provincial levels. It was during this time that she began writing and recording her own compositions. Through these experiences she discovered her future career path as a music educator.
Kayleigh completed a Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Music from the University of Saskatchewan in 2010. While working through her undergraduate degrees she continued to develop her songwriting skills as a regular open mic performer and released an album of her work in 2011 under the name Kayleigh Smith called “A Little Something for Everyone”.
Kayleigh currently shares her love of music with the students of École St Mary High School where she teaches band, choir, jazz band and general music. She continues to share her gifts with her parish through ministry with her husband and two sons. Kayleigh is the director of the Prince Albert Concert Band and Prince Albert Youth Band (which is in its inaugural season). Kayleigh is currently working on a Masters degree in Music Education from Acadia University.

Meet Sasktel Search for the Stars Judge: TEEGAN JEFFERS
Dynamite comes in small packages, or at least this is true of P.A.'s five foot small bassist bombshell and vocalist, and sometimes actor, Ms. Teegan Jeffers.
Introduced to music at an early age, Teegan started studying classical piano under the remarkable Laurie Schumacher. She developed a love for classical music, but her fly by the seat of her pants attitude had other plans for her and at the age of 13 she discovered the upright bass and fell in love immediately.
Teegan has come a long way since those first notes on the piano, and has played extensively in Saskatchewan, touring Canada a few times over, and making her one of the most in demand bass players around. Teegan draws power from her femininity, free-spirit, and overall edge to create the hard-kicking bass lines she is known for.
Over the past 15 years she has had the privilege of being a member of Saskatoon’s Sexually Attracted to Fire, Bassavoce, Seven Levels, the Tin Bridge Sextet and Quartology, featuring Dean McNeill and Mark Dejong. She has also played with the likes of Matty Powell and the Great Train Reverie, Sarah Slean, MotherMother, Bob Wiseman, Geoff Berner, Don Griffith, The Saskatoon Symphony, Farideh Olson, the Megan Lane Band, Suzie Vinnick, Roy Sydiaha, Llew Matthews (piano player to Nancy Wilson for 20 years), Kristin Korb, Paul Tobin, Ryan Korb, John McCaslin, The Weber Brothers, Theresa Sokyrka and Andrea Menard’s the Velvet Devil. In 2010 she was proudly hand picked by Canada's Beloved Mary Margaret O'Hara- playing a one night only show in Saskatoon. She also a proud member of Prince Albert’s The Goat’s.
Teegan is also a sometimes actor, having principle roles in Spark Theater’s production of Eve Ensler’s Vagina Monologues and Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
Born and raised and Saskatoon Teegan has been proud to call Prince Albert her home for the past eight years. She is passionate about her work at YWCA Homeward Bound. She loves strong coffee, CrossFit, lipstick, and spending time with her friends and family at the lake.
