The atmosphere was nice, our server was great. The food was extremely slow to come out. (45 minutes for appetizers, 2 hours for entrees) We were a table of 17, but that seems long even still. Some of the food was great, others not so great.

Butternut squash risotto with shrimp: Creamy, great texture, tender crisp asparagus and peppers. The shrimp were way overcooked - glad they were just resting on top

    Seafood risotto:
Creamy, well seasoned, the seafood on this one was nicely cooked.

Pan seared pickerel with shoestring potatoes:
This was the best dish. The fish was seasoned and cooked perfectly, tasted super fresh. The shoestring potatoes were tasty.

Steak and lobster fettuccine with rose sauce:
The steak was bland, the lobster was overcooked, and the pasta sauce was nothing special.

Gnocchi with bacon, pea curry, dill, and honey:
This dish was delicious. Im not a fan of the texture of gnocchi, but these were the best I'd ever had

Smoked bacon and lentil vegetable soup:
The soup of the day. Great flavors, seasoned perfectly, creamy without being rich.

    Dessert was extremely good.
    Chocolate lemon poppyseed cake:
Light, fluffy cake with a subtle lemon flavor.

    St. Honore:
Puff pastry with chocolate sponge cake, whipped cream, and caramel. This was tasty but a little difficult to eat. The sponge cake and whipped cream are very delicate and the puff pastry was a little tough to cut through. Better eaten with a knife.

I was very disappointed with my overcooked, thin, 5oz steak that was supposedly a special. All of $34 plus tax. I also was not told the cost of the special, which I assumed was around $20 or $25. My bad. But.....the service was great.

Bombolini is the Wine Bar underneath the more upscale and more expensive Amici's.

Both are run by the same owners, but Bombolini's is the better value. Dishes come from the same kitchen at a cheaper price.

There Italian food is some of the best in Winnipeg and has been a staple for years.

The appetizers and soups are excellent but our main dishes were just average, however the service was amazing and very helpful which made for a very pleasant evening.
