Despite the consistently slow service, I honestly loved going to the Black Frog until tonight. I am not a huge drinker so I don’t mind service being slow. However, my friend and I were having a lovely evening until the male server we had brought us our bill. I was in the washroom and my friend was sitting at the table when he came by with the bill, looked at her, and said “Try not to look so dead, Love.” This is the equivalent to asking a woman why she isn’t smiling. This is not okay. A person’s facial expression is none of another person’s business, nor do we as human beings “owe” each other aesthetically pleasing expressions. Just because someone is female does NOT mean they should pretend to be happy to appease another person. My friend did nothing to deserve being demeaned like that. Also, FYI sometimes people’s faces are not a reflection of their mood. We both left the experience feeling digusted. After reading a handful of other reviews, it would appear that this kind of treatment by staff is as consistent as the slow service. Would not recommend going there.
Great ale and burger! Good quick service.
Great food. Head to this place if you're an Oilers fan. You'll find your people there.
Got the Yorkies and moon burger. The food was very good. The service was lacking, other than my initial order, bringing the food, and paying the bill I never dealt with the waitress otherwise. Had to wait too long after we were done for the bill. The moon burger was pretty one dimensional texture wise but did taste great. The Yorkies were delicious. Will go back if I'm in the area because the food is good enough where I'll give it another chance.
Solid food and beer options. Nice location. Can be loud.
Food was alright and the view was great. But service was bad, we had to wait 40 minutes!! And when we finally got our food some of it wasn't even what we ordered
My friend and I visited from the USA and I guess the bitchy bartender we had thought we were stupid Americans, because we ordered two alcoholic drinks and we both received pink lemonade. I ordered a whisky sour (my favorite drink), which has a distinct taste, of whisky. So I obviously know the difference between this and literally pink lemonade. Also the food took a while, which is fine, but then it wasn't very good. I ordered some kind of salad and it contained maybe two of the ingredients that the menu said it contained.
This is a nice bar tucked away down by the railway just off Water Street. They have some nice beers and a good atmosphere. its normally less busy than most other bars nearby and is a relaxing place that you can always get a seat.
Extremely offensive staff. The way they speak to customers is absolutely unacceptable. The staff member at the door was very young, poorly dressed and extremely unprofessional. Behaving very strangely as we arrived. He was possibly high on cocaine. Very aggressive and not really helpful in trying to find us a server. We didn't even get menus. Had to read the one outside.
If you have a girlfriend you care about, I'd be very careful not to bring her here on a date. One of the men working here was extremely rude to her. I believe both men and women deserve an equal amount of respect.
I spoke to two managers. One of them fluffed off the situation and never called me back. The other made an excuse when I followed up to see what was done about the situation.
She then proceeded to give a very empty, fake sounding apology and essentially told me to go screw myself.
If you want to be treated with respect, then perhaps this isn't the place for you.
They simply don't care because they make so much money off tourists.
I'm very chill and easy going, but nobody speaks to me (or my girlfriend) like that and gets away with it. And now I must share my experience in order to make sure others don't find themselves in the same situation.
A nice place across the Steam clock to grab a drink with friends. Great cocktail list following with a extensive local beer menu. Food is good, large portions. Casual place with welcoming comfortable sporty kinda interior and friendly staff.
Solid cocktails, interesting location and decor. Enjoyed the fried pickles and tzatziki as well.
Great place to watch the West Coast Express trains, share appies with friends and try local craft beers.
Eat the Stuffed Yorkies. Unbelievably good in perfect bite sizetrust me you'll be quaffing them like a seagull with fresh fish in no time. Best in Van.
An awesome little place with friendly staff, good food and well priced drinks. Its not to loud and they have sports playing up by the bar if you want to go alone just to hang out.
