I’m currently staying at this hotel. Please do not come here if you have any breathing problems (asthma, emphysema, sinus issues). They circulate their chimney smoke throughout their hotel room floors PURPOSELY and don’t bother to tell their guests that when you book your room or check in. My kids have asthma, my daughter has laryngomalacia which means they absolutely can’t be around smoke. Our floor smells like a forest fire is outside. I myself (with no breathing problems) spent the last night coughing and barely able to breathe. This place is like our worst nightmare, our personal hell hole. When I called the front desk they didn’t even offer us anything or ask if we’d like to move rooms. It was like we were bothering them. Absolutely HORRIBLE. 000000000 stars.

Nice hotel. Very sound proof. Nice to be able to regulate the thermostat and open the window. Would stay here again. Love the Keg proximity. Love the spa.

Beautiful hotel, service was good. Lovely big rooms. We didn't eat in the hotel as we felt it was quite expensive, no more than other hotels we checked out but more than we wanted to pay. Lovely little spa, you can't swim in the pool, it's basically a big jacuzzi but still very nice. It is a little way out of town but there is a free shuttle bus that goes all around Banff so no massive issue.

The staff get this hotel a higher rating. All in a good mood and helpful. Hotel itself is skin deep beauty. Looks great in pictures but not built well. Would have been upset to pay full price rather than the cheap tickets price at a further 25 percent off. While showering the faucet started to fall apart leaving me covered with shampoo and soap. Shoving the parts back in and wrapping with a face cloth was what got me out of a predicament. Luckily I was the last one in the shower! When given the faucet parts the front desk staff surprisingly offered little apology and no compensation. I suppose this is normal for them? Toilet is so close to cabinetry you need to sit sideways to use it. This was true for my small wife too! No pool but a giant hot tub which has pre shower faucets that are loose in the rotting wall. I suppose that's consistency! I've spent years working on the road and this is not one of the better hotels I've stayed in. It's nice enough but certainly not value for the cost.

Lovely atmospheric hotel. Great steak restaurant. Hotel itself is a bit grubby, needs a good clean . Towels are off-white and bedding a bit tired and marked. I found a lot of long black hairs on the floor and bed. Cannot fault the staff though. Friendly and attentive.

On the second night of our stay (August 28th 2017), there was a fire alarm at around 9:30pm
All guests evacuated through the clearly marked fire escapes around the building and gathered outside at the side and at the back of the building. The elderly, children and babies stood outside in the cold night air, some bare feet, some shirt less and one guest dripping wet from the shower or pool.
After the alarm stopped, the guests continued waiting for an announcement saying it was safe to re-enter.
Some time had passed and after hearing nothing, myself and some other guests walked around to the front.
The restaurant patrons were still having their dinners, kitchen staff were having a smoke break and it seemed business as usual in the lobby area!
Asking the front desk attendant if it was safe to return to our rooms she said yes and they were looking into the alarm incident.
I informed her that there were still guests outside in the cold "We would make an announcement when we get time" was her response!!
The stay at this facility was acceptable, however based on their poor handling of this situation, it is quite questionable as to how they would deal with an actual fire.
In the interest of the safety, I will be very hesitant to recommend the Banff Caribou Lodge and Spa
The safety of their paying guests appears to be low down on their priority lists if they are willing to leave the elderly and babies out in the cold "until they get time"
Unless the staff are trained in handling emergencies, and better treatment of their guests in non-routine situations, I cannot recommend staying here.response / report this review -

Good location and nice hotel. Room was spacious and had a vintage feel in the good way. Loved the caribou artwork inside the room. The restaurant keg was great and we had some good steaks. They assisted with my questions regarding the Rocky Mountaineer and the staff was polite and friendly. There's a gas station super close to the hotel which is a plus.

Nice rooms and great hot tub. Check in was a bit rough as they gave us the wrong room number and we had to go up and down a fee times with our luggage. They comped us a free breakfast as an apology which was fantastic. Overall a positive experience and would stay here again.

We enjoyed our night at the Banff Caribou Lodge. Our room was very clean and the staff were friendly. Our 4 year old daughter loved the hot pool. Having underground parking wad a nice touch. Our is a good walk to downtown but that's not a problem in a place as beautiful as Banff.

Good location and good service, walking distance to Banff downtown . Had got complementary ROAM passes for town shuttle. Lodge got all you want -Free access to hot pool,steam room and fitness room. High speed Internet. Also has Spa & Massage.
We like staying here. This is our forth stay.
FYI:Some of the front desk people are really not very helpful, some are very polite and some are not.
Other there is a the Keg Restaurant on the site but no option for vegan and or vegetarian. I checked this morning and lady at the restaurant said they don't have vegi option.
Room was clean but pillows coverson one bed weren't clean. noticed hair in side and outside the pillows. So please check your pillows and bed 1st.

Our stay was amazing. The Mountain View Loft was incredible. If it had a kitchen, it would have made an incredible apartment. The space was luxurious and immaculate. Would stay again.

Beautiful clean rooms. Large hot-pool and sauna. Very reasonably priced. Great underground parking. Only potential down side is it is a bit of a walk from downtown.
