You're greeted promptly as you arrive with a nice cold glass of rum punch. The hotel has been nicely renovated and is very open and bright. There are several restaurants here and the food is great. You have access to the beach and every room has an ocean view. The hotel is a little humid on the inside and the beds could use a pillow top cover. But other than that, it's a really nice place. Adults only.

This resort did not live up to its rating. The no reservation system guarantees you will wait in line for at least 1 hour to be seated. On our first night my husband and I arrived at the steakhouse right when they opened and were treated like fools--the hostess made it a point to rush us out the door while yelling they were full for the night.
The bar service at the pool is slow because many of the staff are too busy talking to one another to make a drink for the patrons. I don't mind waiting for a drink but when there are 4-6 bartenders at any given time it shouldn't be too hard to get a beer.
I appreciate the adults only atmosphere but this seems to also invite large, loud and many times obnoxious bachelor/bachelorette parties. One group tonight actually taunted the line of people at the restaurant screaming they were fools and schmucks for waiting in line. Classy
The water is beautiful and the buffet food is outstanding.
If I do visit in the future I will be sure to steer clear of this resort. The Bahamas is a great destination with great sight seeing and friendly locals. We will just need to find a better resort next time!!response / report this review -

Food was decent and rooms were nice. Beach and pool area were well maintained.
However, it seemed like 2/3 of the employees were attentive and respectful, other 1/3 seemed put out when they had to help you. Room sevice was pretty bad, toilet clogged every day and after day 3 they stopped coming to fix it, even after calling to the front desk repeatedly.
My wife scheduled with the spa for a hair braiding on the last day. Arrived early, waited for awhile after she was supposed to begin and finally asked what the holdup was. After making her wait even longer, someone decided it was time to tell her that the woman who braids hair was not in. Why did they schedule her if the stylist wasn't in? Why not tell her immediately when she walked in? Why not call our room ahead of time? This is the kind of service they have here.
Smoking is allowed, which will make smokers happy but means that the rest of us never get to enjoy the sea air because someone is always smoking wherever you go.
We had fun because it's a beautiful place and we aren't the type to let little things bug us for long, but I don't think I would come here again.response / report this review -

We just returned from a wonderful week at the Riu. Everything was just great, everyone was so friendly and the food and drinks were plentiful. I am glad that I did not go by the previous reviews that were not complimentary. The whole resort was spotless and the freshness of the food was great. Next time I will be sure that we book ocean front instead of ocean view rooms. There was a bad leak in the lobby after a heavy rain storm but the staff had it all cleaned up within a few hours!

Stayed for 7 days in January 2018 with my wife and another couple. Had a great time, the service is always great at the Riu, food was excellent, pool is fun and clean. We had the luxury of staying in the penthouse ocean view and for us it was worth the extra cost. Bahamian people are such nice people, felt very comfortable leaving the resort. Beach is beautiful, water is clear, some days are windy adding waves.
The lobby is grandiose and absolutely beautiful and spotless.
The only downfall to this hotel is the restaurant policy for reservations, there are non!! You have to get downstairs to line up by 18:00 otherwise you won't find a table and be stuck at the buffet.
We will return 100%, but first..

Me and my wife were there for the honey moon. The hotel is nice and clean. The staff is okay but from a tourist point of view they should be more friendly. They are more friendly if you pull out a $10 though.

Amazing week with amazing friendly service everywhere !!!. Jackie in the breakfast and lunch areas was just amazing !. People ask to sit in her section she will make you feel absolutely amazing , each and ever day . I rated 4 stars however because my mother on day 2 of our trip went to the spa for a manicure and massage ( I had a great massage ) so did she . The manicure however HORRIBLE the lady filed right through the top on my mother's nail to the nail bed and poured blood for a while. Leaving her unable to get it wet and fully enjoy herself . Compensation was made. But that's a huge no no and damage to her nail that will take long to heal. Management at the spa was wonderful . Don't get your nails done unless it's a simple polish .

We liked staying at the Riu. It's adults only, which was important to us, and all inclusive. The reason I deducted one star was because of the restaurants. Now the buffet was great however the steak house and Indian restaurants we couldn't get into. We got turned away twice from the steak house cause they said they were full for the evening. We showed up 15 minutes before the doors opened, watched them let about 15 people in then stopped with the people right in front of us saying they were full. However you could see all the empty tables through the windows, they were not full. Came back another night and it was the same song and dance. Then we went to the Indian restaurant and they told us it was an hour wait. So we just ate at the buffet the whole time. I also wish they would have had a gift shop/store inside the hotel which is why we ended up spending time at Atlantis instead.

Excellent place, staff, food and overall cleanliness. The buffet had lots of selection. Best to go to the buffet then the restaurant, no lineup. The pool, spa and beach all excellent. Get to the beach early and grab a chair for the day. Bring some crackers or bread and feed the fishes right there on the shore. Excellent picture opportunity when feeding the fish. There lots of vendors on the beach. Take a jet ski out to see the scenery around the hotel. Look for a guy name CHARLIE, he will give you the best price! Overall experience 10 stars. Bonus it's an all adult only resort.

Excellent location just beside the beach and Atlantis.
Buffet and the presentation and quality of the food is very impressive. The site is extremely clean and the entire hotel staff was exeptional in customer service, always friendly and accommodating. My family and I enjoyed our stay at Riu Palace Paradise Island, I would definitely recommend this hotel to everyone, who is looking for a good stay, good food and great vacation. 😊👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼response / report this review -

All inclusive great food. Very friendly staff. Just open after 2 months of renovations. Looks great. 24 hour bar. Rooms are great. The beach is fantastic. 2 pools. 1 with swim up bar. Enjoyed every moment.

Absolutely HORRIBLE!! We left after 2 days and went to Atlantis. Like some other reviewers said, we were also turned away from 2 restaurants as they served enough people for the evening. The food at the buffet is terrible, no taste, very few choices and same thing two days in a row! The mixed drinks were tasteless. There’s no premium alcohol at all. There no music in the hotel or “elevator music”. There’s absolutely no atmosphere, it feels like a nursing home and not an all inclusive hotel. I cannot imagine how people could possibly give this place 4 or 5 stars! We’ve been to Riu in DR and Aruba, and you just cannot compare. We complained to the manager on the first day, she only said thank you. On the second day we complained to another manager and she just stared at us. We checked out and told them that we’ll be requesting refund from our travel agent. When we got back home, and our travel agent called Riu to start the refund process, Riu LIED and said that we never checked out!! Just cannot believe that a chain such as Riu would straight out lie!! We’re still in the process of trying to get our refund. There were many other guests while we were staying there that were furious as well and completely not satisfied. The pillows in the room are hard as rock, when I called and asked for different softer pillows, I was told that these were the only pillows they had. The sink in the room kept getting clogged no matter how many times it was fixed. The staff really didn’t care. Staff looked overworked and underpaid. Staff was not friendly at all. All in all, it felt like a cheap motel. There’s absolutely no entertainment! Nothing to do! Everyone leaves in the evening to Atlantis or to town to other hotels. There’s no gift shop. Save yourself time and money and STAY AWAY from Riu!!!!

Very clean. Staff was wonderful!!! Cannot say enough about them!!!! The rooms, howevereh. the A.C. only seemed to work at night..we woke up freezing but when we walked into our room at any point during the day it was super muggy. Bed was like sleeping on plywoodthe most uncomfortable bed I've ever slept in. We were happy it was right next to Atlantisand that was good because it had no gift shop! Anything we needed we either had to walk to and through atlantis or go into town. As for food, it was pretty good but the coffee bar opened at 10am.made no sense. And unless you got chips during lunch they were stale

I love this place, my boyfriend and I were told this place had the most beautiful and best beach. They were absolutely correct. The only thing i have to say negative about this place is the residents that are trying to sell you on renting the jet ski's and boat rides, ask how much before hand and pay it in that exact amount. Do not give them more and expect change after. Other than that its worth it and everything here is wonderful. So much history and beauty in culture.

We stayed in room 1430, the room was very nice and clean, recently updated. The mini bar is great and restocked daily. Staff was very friendly and helpful. View was superb. Beach access was amazing, there was a decent verity off food and the menu changed nightly. The downside. We liked to sleep with the door open there is a ac unit that was below us and the noise overpowered the sound of the ocean. The ac in the room didn't work half the time and made a loud noise at night. The toilet was broken and we had to flush it by pulling the flapper in the tank. The shower drained slowly and the rain head wouldn't stay on unless we wrapped a towel around the knob keeping it in place. Besides those few things it was amazing

As Honeymooners staying at the Riu we found spring break for adults. We don't drink, but we love to eat. the food was plentiful and above averagem. Not excellent, but good. The room Was clean, and the bed was big. However the mattress wasn't the most comfortable, and the shower tub was very narrow and hard to stand in. I would stay here again, but do know that the pool had what appeared to be spilled drinks floating in it every day. The beach also was very dirty by the end of the day. The Riu was definitely worth the price point, and possible constituted a higher one. We will be back as the Atlantis provided a completely different experience and is better for families. But if you're looking to let loose and relax not around big crowds the Riu is the way to go.

Very slow check-in process. Partial ocean view had 0% ocean view (Room 200). Steak house was good with a nice selection of choices. Pool area and bars are great, easy beach access and beach chairs available.
Rooms/bath are spacious, comfortable, and with good furniture incl a self-serve liquor bar and stocked fridge.
Building is in desperate need for repairs and has leaks all around the entrance lobby. There was also some other renovation/construction going on starting at 8:30am.response / report this review -

My family stayed 5 nights at the Riu.
Food was amazing. The staff goes out of their way to make you feel welcomed to the island. The food is amazing. The staff was amazing, fun, and very enthusiastic. Perfect walking distance to the Atlantis. No complaints here.response / report this review -

Rooms are neat, spacious and with a nice view to the ocean. Beer in the minibar is replenished every morning, but if you need more you have to go to one of the bars or drink some of the available spirits. The food from the main buffet is average, and to book the a la carte restaurants you have to be on a line to book. For the price, it's a nice Resort.

Was an awesome week at Riu. Food was amazing as was the service. Lots of entertainment in and around the hotel. Nightly shows and pool activities put on by some awesome preformers. And Atlantis is right next door. Was our best vacation in years. Will come back soon.

When my husband and 3 children arrived at the hotel they didn't have one of our rooms reserved even though we paid it in full months prior. The front desk and manager were a total nightmare to deal with. They had my family and I sit in the lobby like beggars the whole entire first day that we there and we were so exhausted from travel. Riu's main reservation office was no help either. When we finally got rooms the manager told me that she was doing me a favor. What favor? I paid for my rooms. It was such a bad feeling to be in a foreign country and not have a place to stay and I didn't have any money left to stay somewhere else because I already gave them my thousands.Half of the rooms face garbage and broken lounge chairs as well as a walkway for all of the people trying to solicit stuff on the beach. The furniture in the rooms are dirty and dated. Even after contacting the Riu corporation today from home they really didn't care. Save yourself the heartache and DO NOT STAY HERE!

Staff was great, They are very helpful and willing to help with anything. The service and the food was also great. Great selection in the buffet and the other restraunts had good food as well. This is on a first come first serve basis, I can see this as people don' t always show up for there reservations. Beach was beautiful white sand, never a problem finding a chair. Guests should be more considerate on picking up their garbage. I made a 4 star as this place needs updating. Which I believe this is happening this summer. We would go back after reno's. (Not a place for children)

Beach is amazing. Great sand with amazing wave action. Loungers provided.
Service and staff are also second to none.
Reason for giving it 4-stars is mainly to do with the age of the building and the condition of many of the public areas.
Carpets in hallways are coming up and rippling. Also, very musty in many areas.
Food is just good. Not amazing. It also feels like they want to rush everyone out.
Finally, had to stand in line for all dinners; they would not take reservations! Not what you'd expect for a 5-star resort.
I'd rate this property as more of a 3.5 to 4-star. Certainly not a 5-star.
Nonetheless, the beach and staff definitely will entice us back very soon.
Walking distance (1.5 mi) to downtown Nassau over the Sidney Poitier bridge. Although it appears sketchy along the way it's safe!
Highly recommend; but keep your expeditions of the resort low.response / report this review
