I have never been treated so badly by an 'international' hotel chain. They closed the hotel for reburbishment this year which meant that my booking couldn't be fulfilled,.I have now been chasing them for 6 months for a refund, and they either ignore me or send a stock email reply saying they are 'working on my refund'. They have stolen over £1,000 from me and will not return it. Be careful when booking with this chain or this hotel in particular as they have behaved like criminals.

I made a reservation in January for a trip in April, 2021. I just checked the hotel's website and saw that the hotel is going to be closed starting March 1, 2021 for 24 months for renovations. The hotel has not notified me, and I have already made travel arrangements. When I called the customer service number to confirm that the hotel will be closed during that time, the representative was very rude and did not assist me at all. He said that the hotel reserves the right to close because of the "emergency," even though the website says it is closed for renovations. The hotel is not even offering any sort of credit or incentive to stay with them for the inconvenience. I was very much looking forward to staying here, but I am very disappointed in this hotel and its customer service and will never stay at any of its resorts.

We went here for our honeymoon in 1997! I really loved this place and I can’t wait to revisit! The resort and island are beautiful with some really friendly residents. There used to be a casino resort next to the hotel, but it looks like that may be gone.

I stayed here for a week. It wasn't bad but if you visit the Baha Mar resort next door you might not want to return to this resort. This resort is run down so don't expect much. The rooms are falling apart. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. Great place to bring the family. The restaurants are great but the buffet is bland and boring. The entertainment isn't that great also. Luckily there's a free shuttle to take you to the Baha Mar next door where you'll want to spend most of your time. The view from the suits aren't bad either depending on which side of the building you're on. Try to stay in the left wing. Remember if you're expecting a quality room be prepared. We stayed in their presidential suite and there was nothing premium about it except for the view. Even our room door was busted which made us kinda paranoid while leaving our room for long periods of time. They denied us a room changed when we brought this to their attention. The hall ways and stairwell where run down too. The beach was decent and clean but very small and seating is limited. The pool was decent. There was only one Jacuzzi that everyone crammed into and it was filthy and muddy by evening time. Kinda gross. Would I return to this place? Probably not. This is a 3 star Hotel.

The only thing I enjoyed about this place was the beach. The hotel needs to be updated and renovated and the resort was not well-maintained. The food was not good, poor quality and lack of variety. I was really disappointed since Melia is one of the best chains. The price of stay was also quite high considering what they offer to their guests. I would not return to this hotel.

First time visiting The Bahamas & staying at the MeliĆ” Nassau. Hotel is in a great location close to the airport and right next to the beach ( we could see it from our room). The room was good not too much variety. Didn’t get a chance to visit any of the restaurants because we were only there for 4 days ( when i tried to make reservations on day 2 everything was booked for the next 2 days). Nightly entertainment wasn’t very entertaining. The worst part is the staff. Everyone seems unhappy and not friendly at all, if you don’t speak to them first forget getting something as simple as a hello. Loved the island. Defenetly Will be back but not staying at the MeliĆ” Nassau.

I loved this resort so much!! My sister and I just went there last week, we stayed for 5 days and had the time of our lives. ALL staff were extremely nice, we felt comfortable everywhere we went. I saw some reviews about the food not being good, or it was always the same thing, but both my sister and I loved the food and thought the variety was great. The buffet area for breakfast, lunch & dinner was good. Our view was amazing, we had the ocean view, which i recommend that! I have no bad reviews about this resort, we will definitely be coming back. Thank you so much for such a great experience!!! :)

My wife and I came here with our boys for a 7 nights stay. It has been a great 2nd day. The service is good at all restaurants and the food is good. Staying at the Level elevates the experience further with all inclusive room service and almost everything. Just remember to bring a lot of $1 bills for tipping everyone.

Just got home from a dream trip. We picked the Melia because we were looking for an all ages, all inclusive and thought this looked like the nicest one. The view from our room was stunning. Beautiful white sand, and turquoise water. The rooms although nothing fancy were clean and comfortable. The beach was just gorgeous, the service attentive and lots of fun. The food was the best I have had at a resort, and offered lots of variety. The only restaurant that was not included was Black Angus, but it was a fabulous meal, and our attendant Lamont deserves a shout-out for his customer service excellence. Also want to give a special thanks to Precious. She is one of a kind, and really works hard to make sure you are having a great time and feel looked after. I would come back here in a heartbeat. Thanks for a great week!

The resort has a lot of room for improvement. Essential elements of the island vacations are good sleep, good food, especially fruits, and good service. Mattresses and pillows are too soft for me, so back and neck pain wakes me up at night. On the day of our arrival, the chef was completely ignoring allergies the guests were mentioning. The steak was impossible to chew. Food quality is generally poor, but O'Grille is an exception both service and food wise. Monique is absolutely amazing. She proves that one person can make a difference by lightening up our day with unexpectedly good service. Few people at Market Place also are friendly and provide good service. It's possible to get some good food. A guy at Esta Vida was very nice, but the only good food was the one not touched by the chef: cheese and olives. One of the girls at restaurant reservation desk may want to stay away from customer service career. I can't understand why I'm getting tastier fruits in New York than on an island.

Stayed there last week for a little getaway with the wife. All the negative reviews had us a bit spooked, but those people were completely wrong and had the wrong expectations. The resort was great. It was only 10 mins to the airport, the beach was beautiful, the room was clean and nice, the food was good, the drinks were always flowing, and the service was good. For the price you pay, you're not going to get the finest cuisine or top shelf drinks, but it's a great value. We had a blast and will definitely go back.

Some PRO TIPS for people heading there. Definitely book the restaurants as far out as you canthey get booked up quickly and the restaurants that take reservations have the best food. Get out to the beach early and tag your beach chair with towels to reserve them. It's not the greatest or fairest systembut everyone there does it so if you don't play by those rules, you'll end up without a chair. We wished we had brought our own insulated cups for drinks. We saw other people doing that and it was genius. Otherwise, the drinks warm up quickly in the heat.

Had a blast at this resort! Celebrated my husband's 60th. birthday there. Great food! Entertainment was pretty typical. (Let's face it folks, you're not going to see really famous people there at the prices we're paying). It rained quite a bit while we were there, but thanks to the entertainment stuff who's name tags I have put in the photos they made our vacation a lot of fun! When we couldn't have our fun outside they bought it into the main lobby. People sitting in the lobby seem to enjoy it and there were many participants! The only complaint I would have about this place is that the service and all the restaurants was very slow. Almost every time we had breakfast we had to ask for coffee. Nobody just came by and said would you like coffee or tea. I understand that this Resort is fairly new, I think it was purchased in July. So it would make sense that they are working on making it a great Resort. I love that the entertainment was held in the main lobby and that the dancing was in the lobby bar, you could sit and have a drink or you could get up and dance. I really hope they don't change that! I would definitely go there again!

We had a wonderful vacation. The hotel is older and in need of some minor repairs; however, they are making repairs daily. The restaurants food was wonderful. Aqua (Italian) was delicious fresh pasta and sauces. The Marketplace (buffet) was my least favourite. The food was good, but the wait staff was not attentive very hard to get refills on drinks. The staff love children and seem to really cater to their needs. The mini bar in the room really came in handy for those little snacks the kids need between meals. Our room attendant went above and beyond to fill the snack bar when my kids were hungry at 930pm. We would definitely return to MeliĆ”. The Bahamian people are so friendly and kind.

Great all inclusive Hotel. The beach is amazing and they have a lot of amenities. The service is good but it is slow, in general. There is no animation team like in other resorts, where they organize beach activities. I got the impression that many people really don't enjoy their jobs and you do feel it in the way they treat people. Don't get me wrong, they are not rude or disrespectful but, you do feel they would prefer not to be there working. The Bahamas are amazing and I would totally come back. So much to see and do. Save some money because it is pricy.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY! The best thing is the beach. We know all inclusive food is never good, but my husband opened a box of cereal, began eating, and notice the box was infested with bugs. Rooms are truly disgusting! The bathrooms at the airport are cleaner and nicer than on the resort. Never returning!

Such an amazing time spent at the Melia! My wife and I went there for our honeymoon and it was totally worth it. All the staff members were super friendly and more than willing to help you with whatever you needed! The beach was beautiful and the pools were always the perfect temperatures. Both a pro & a con was that the hotel seemed to have a lot of construction going on (at least 4 rooms on our floor were under construction) but it was really nice to see that they were actively working on up-keeping the building to their standards.

The food was amazing. The Marketplace always had really solid amazing food every night. We didn't get a chance to eat at Cilantro but we ate at Nikkei 3 times and all 3 times were amazing. I would suggest booking Nikkei in advance to get the hibachi!

Our room was beautiful. We had such an amazing view of the ocean. The room was cleaned daily and the mini fridge was always stocked totally full.

My wife and I have already agreed that we will be going back for our anniversaries.

Very nice place and nice people. I suggest getting an outside room on the partial or full ocean view. The east and west hallways are very hot due to the large windows in the halls. Food is good for the most part. They are not shy with the alcohol and we never went thirsty or hungry. This is typically one of the prettiest and calmest beaches in Nassau but we were there just after hurricanes passed so there were large waves.

My fiancƩ and I had a blast on our trip last week. The hotel is absolutely amazing for the price you pay. ALL staff members were extremely friendly. I did not think that the staff members were on "island time," as everything was done very quickly (and this is coming from someone who works in NYC). We arrived at 11am on a Saturday and were able to check in 4 hours early, all of our dining experiences were quick too, complete opposite of staff members being on island time. It was easy to book restaurant reservations and we always got the reservation times we wanted. We also had no problem finding beach chairs under the straw umbrellas after breakfast. The best part was the unlimited free kayaking, paddle boarding, and rafts.

Very good resort. It offers things to do for the family or for single individuals. My family and I are staying for a week and not once have we been bored. The food is good. The rooms are a good size. We went with two queen size bed for the 4 of us. We will definitely return.

Very relaxing and clean. Did the day pass access to pools / beach with family party of 6 during a cruise stop and all had an excellent time. Beach views are beautiful. Perhaps 10 min cab from cruise terminal? Definitely worth it as we got away from the cruise crowds. MIL was able to shop at market across the street. Apparently, we had access at the very nice resort next door, but never bothered. Starbucks inside hotel, outdoor patio restaurant by the pool area as well. I did a pool aerobics class while people watched from the swim up bar!

This is a very nice resort. Clean, quaint and secluded. There are several places to unwinded and relax and most importantly EAT! The beach is very private and there is plenary of room to get around. Now I can't speak for the summer time, but this time of the year is excellent.

The staff is very nice and very accommodating. Two of my favorite qualities. They go to the extreme to ensure you are enjoying yourself.

Live music at the swim up bar made the pool scene that much better. Everybody was participating and enjoying themselves.

If you are ever in the Bahamas and need a place to stay, com check this place our. If and when you do, tell em Drew sent ya!

This Melia Resort we were told was a 4 star, but this is far from the truth attached are photo of the carpet and bed frame in our room. It really is in need of repair and I understand that this is in the works, but when you pay for a 4star this is no consolation. It is a very nice location and the grounds, beach and ocean are very nice. The staff is super friendly the food is ok just do not eat the leftovers from lunch that they serve at dinner, you may end up sick with you know what. I would give this resort two to three years before it becomes a 4 star.

FOOD ALLERGIES- My family of 5, along with 3 other families and Grandpa, stayed here for 1 week. The rooms were fine, but showed signs of wear and could stand to be updated. Generally service is slow compared to what many folks from the U.S. have come to expect. If you show some patience and are willing to tip often and tip well, then service improves. Among our group of 16, we have 5 of us with food allergies and 2 are severe and unique. At every different restaurant in the resort, we would tell our server and then the chef would come out and meet with us. We were so extremely pleased with the care and concern they showed us regarding our allergies. This made all of the difference for us. Outstanding job here!!

The Melia is a fine hotel. It isn't the greatest place ever, but it's perfectly fine for a nice getaway. The food is good, the staff is helpful, and the beach is perfect. There are a lot of little things they could do better, there is nothing wrong with it. We stayed for a week and enjoyed our time. The Asian restaurant is the best and Cilantro is the worst. Call ahead to book reservations for dinner at the Asian places and the Italian place 2 nights before your stay. The trick is to make reservations 2 nights ahead and to put your towels on the shady beach chairs before breakfast. Shade is limited, so plan ahead. Other than that, it's a great spot to enjoy the beach.

Our room wasn't terribly, but wasn't the best either. The view was nice but the bathroom needs major improvements. Food at the buffet was OK. Nikkei restaurant was decent and Cilantro was pretty good. Staff was not overly friendly. Helpful, for the most part, when needed but being there didn't seem to make them too happy though partially understandable. It took a few days to realize that everything accept for the traffic was in slow mo. That is the culture, which I started respecting about 3 days in.

Basic but nice rooms. Shower smelled a bit gross when first turning it on but always had hot water. Everything was very clean, never saw a bug in the room either which is a plus for me. TV had lots of channels available. Beach and pools were great. Mini bar guys were great too, always gave us extra if we asked!

The food in most places left a little to be desired. The best service and experience we had by far was in Nikkei, we went twice. Steaks at Black Angus were good and cooked properly!

Really enjoyed the cute kitties on the property as well. I'm sure they do a great job keeping the place pest-free, and they're super friendly to boot!!

The bahama mama drinks at check in was the best ever!!! The beach gorgeous I lost my wristband which typically they charge $200 if lost but luckily didn't charge me for it. The band wasn't tightened correctly. Nikkei the Asian and the Italian restaurant was the best, the al pastor at Cilantro was raw luckily I didn't get salmonella but I did force myself to throw up. Good family friendly resort but I was looking to party and was the only one outside at 3AM at the beach.

I recently stayed at the Melia resort for my spring break , and I can say that I wasn't completely satisfied with my stay . The rooms were pretty clean , however every night after about 11pm there would be no hot water available. Also the hallways smelled like old carpet and had large white spots all throughout them. The food wasn't too bad however they should have a larger variety of options , typically people are there for about a week and no one wants to eat the same thing everyday. Above all the worst part of the resort would have to be the STAFF. Their attitudes are horrible and not welcoming at all, more so the women in the dining services. I feel if they are working for tips or whatever the case may be, the service should be much more up to par. A TIP IS NOT JUST GIVEN ITS EARNED!

We had a great week at the Melia. The staff were super friendly and were there to please. The food was excellent and the drinks were tasty. Jason was great with involving everyone in the activities by the pool. The rooms were a little dated with carpet and older beds. We definitely will be going back.

Beautiful hotel in a beautiful location. Nicely decorated rooms. It is a festive hotel, so it's not always the quietest place. Lots of dancing and singing going on. Usually some kind of wedding, reunions, and family vacations always happening, so there is times of loud celebration that can't be totally drowned out.

We had a great time at the Resort. The food was excellent, especially the buffet. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If there was any type of problem the staff got right on it without any waiting. Even the locals were very friendly. I would definitely recommend this resort and would return again.

    any waiting.
