tiniest room ever, even if it was for 2 people in single beds, had to do ballet to get in and out of the bathroom.
would have been courteous to notify us of the planned road works outside the entrance that started at 07:30.
very thin walls, very loud corridors.
breakfast, although we didn't go for it was a lucky miss, looked very depressed compared the amazing cafés throughout the city.

We stayed at the hotel whilst visiting a friend now living in Ghent. Room was cleaned to a high standard and all the staff were friendly and approachable. We didn't eat or drink at the hotel so can't comment on that. The only thing that would stop me from scoring the whole experience more highly is the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the bedroom. Not seen this for some time and really disappointed that it wasn't available.

It's okay That's exactly the right description. Hotel rooms are not very spacious, have no tea and coffee making facilities. However, the beds are nice. The breakfast is average (not included in the price of the room). There is an underground parking lot, which also costs extra. Overall, not great value for money. The upside is that you're close to downtown Ghent.

The hotel is great. Clean and very comfortable.
Decent bar downstairs. Great breakfast( but pricey at 15€ ) and within walking distance of all attractions.

The garage is a nightmare. 16€ to park but the spaces are much too tight so people have parked at crazy angles and over two spaces. Took nearly half an hour to get parked up.

We've stayed in the Centrum Opera before and have always enjoyed it. The location is convenient for the city centre and sights (and sounds in festival week). The car park is a little cramped and quite difficult to access unless you know where to look and get lucky with parking spaces. There's no convenient on street parking as the hotel is on a major tram route.
Check in is swift and efficient and a single, up front payment can be made to cover parking, city taxes and breakfast if wanted. Breakfast is an excellent buffet with plenty of variety.
I've only got one complaint - we didn't stay long enough!

Booked in by the lovely ladies on the desk. My friend and I were both on motor bikes and were allowed to park in the garage for free providing we were not occupying a car space. Duly done, the room was nice and clean and just what we needed after a long hot ride from Amsterdam.
The only downside would be the presence of the building site next door who started work at silly o clock. But that is no fault of Ibis. Besides we had to be up early to catch the tunnel back home.

The reception staff were very friendly and let us park the car earlier before check in time so that we could wander into the city to explore and then come back later. We really appreciated that. Reception area looked good with a nice looking bar area to the side. Our room decor, however, was very dated. The floor was dirty and very dusty in corners. The hotel corridor smelt like urine. The room was just a very, very poor quality and desperately needed updating. Especially as paint was flaking off of the walls in the bathroom and furniture was scuffed. The walls were very thin and you could hear everything that was going on in the corridor. I wouldn't stay at this Ibis again.

I booked this room as it had air conditioning. It doesn't matter what time of year as we like a cold bedroom. On arrival and getting to the room we found the AC making a screeching noise which would have made it impossible to sleep. I might have been OK if the AC could have been able to operate in cooling mode. It didn't.

We told reception about this but it was impossible to move rooms or even move to the other IBIS in Ghent as they were both fully booked.

It would seem that the AC unit in the room has not been maintained as I found the filter's thick with dust. The excuse reception gave was that the hotel was old and things sometimes didn't work. The compensation offered was two small beer's at the bar.

Consequently we had two very uncomfortable nights' sleep.

We will not be returning to this hotel.

The aircon/heater was noisy when it was turned on. The shower head was leaking. Aside from that, the staff were very helpful and nice and the bed was comfortable.

Great location, rooms comfortable. Had problems with first room due to a severe smell of sewage. We were moved the next day (hotel was full) and had no problems at all. Hotel staff did an excellent job dealing with a very rowdy stag party - genuinely amazed by her ability to remain calm. Ghent was an excellent visit and i found the Ibis to be a good base.

Came here on a team trip. Rooms aren't outstanding but they're clean and tidy. What makes it 5 stars is their breakfast bar has a waffle machine, orange juice machine, egg bath, and loose leaf tea - all in addition to a standard full cooked and cold breakfast!
