The staff were very friendly and were able to answer all my questions. Also the food was pretty decent and the area I stayed in was very private and well laid out. I'll definitely be choosing this hospital again in the future.
Very caring ,attentive and friendly. The nurses work incredibly hard and should be appreciated.thank you so much for looking after my mum.
Extremely bad experience here. All you can do here is waiting. I’m just wondering how can a patient who is in danger remains alive after the come to this hospital. Waiting? Waiting for death to come? It shouldn’t be called emergency. It should be call “got 2 or more hours? Come join us!” :(
If I could give less than a one star I would. Absolutely disgusting costumer service. We took my friend there as she was in a bad car accident a few days ago and she had very serious chest and neck pains and was finding it hard to breath. As we were visiting from Canberra we were taken to the nearest hospital unfortunately it turned out to be this one. We were met by rude and irritated staff. Every staff member we came across there nurses reception staff were rude hostile and unprofessional as well as seeming completely uncapable to treat her. She ended up being given pain relief after about 3 hours of lying in a bed. When they said there’s nothing else they can do so we can leave we then continued to wait over and hour and a half just to have her checked out and even then it was only because I accosted the staff several times and was told very rudely with a raised voice we would have to wait. All for something that took them about 1 minute when we had already been stuffed around and in there for 5 hours. Safe to say if you want good medical advice nice and competent staff DO NOT go here.
The emergency nursing staff and doctor were fantastic and the star is for them. HOWEVER the receptionist who was working on the afternoon of th 17th of October was rude, condescending and very abrupt. She made me feel stupid and I Strongly suggest that she should be working in a field that does not involve contact with people
Big thanks to Dr. James King and his team for removing my brain tumour on 14/09/17. Extremely professional and made the whole experience very relaxing and straight forward. Also a big thanks to all the nurses that looked after me after the operation. A+ care, highly recommend this hospital. Thank you.
Couldn't have received better care. Brought into emergency department last week with breathing difficulties and was seen to straight away and tests started straight away. Cannot praise the doctors and nurses enough for the time and effort put into my care. Happy to say I'm on the mend and it's all down to their support, advise and treatment.
Lovely staff. Doctors too Very informative. I've more app. Which are soon. Thanking you for helping me To all concerned
I have read a few reviews on other about the their experience & high expectations about a govt funded hospital .( free for local )
as far as our experience I would like to thanks for all the staff tried their best to serve us on a high demand and limited resources hospital. ( trust me they service heap of people from what I have seem just the last 12 days )
Our best result and tips were combined our presents and give a extra attention or hands as a family visitors to work with them toward our common goal ,to get my dad's treatment in place and get him healed .So far it have been fantastic and it cost us not even a cent . Should I not be thanksful something for nothing ?
Not happy with there service all. Yelling at patients and just ride bed side manner. There just like ever other hospital.
I am currently a patient at Royal Melbourne Hospital have been for 3 weeks.
Last night at 7pm I was transferred to ICU with complications with breathing.
While I was in ICU head nurse on 6 south west decided to pack up my belongings without checking first with ICU to see how long I am going to be there.
When returning to 6 south west they put me in other bed 37. I asked where were my belongings they said they had been packed up. My daughter had sent me 2 live orchards plants in a tub that were perfectly healthy, they were sitting on top of unit in bed 38. These orchards are very expensive. First the head nurse who packed my belongings with out my permission said he didn't know where they went. Then he said they were thrown out I would like to know why? He had no right in packing up my belongings. He had no right in throwing out my daughter's expensive orchard gift. He had no right to remove me from bed 38. I also have an infection am supposed to have my own room. I am using my private health insurance to stay at Royal Melbourne Hospital to try and offset their costs this is how I am treated.
If I complain I am told I am being unreasonable.
What do you think?
I have been trying to cancel and reschedule my father's appointment that we can no longer attend. I'm doing the right thing by giving plenty of notice..by giving the spot to someone else but at the same time need to be seen by the plastic surgeon and wanting to reschedule. I've tried for weeks and at different times of the day and day of the weekit's absolutely appalling and incredibly frustrating.. this is worse than Centrelink!! What is a person meant to do!!! Also an interpreter was also booked for the appointment.
Excellent care, efficient & friendly. Casualty staff fast..ward staff supportive & informative. Great food etc for visitors. On holiday from UK . Not great holiday but best care at RMH. Thank you .
My husband cut 3 fingers with a circular saw, he was admitted immediately, put on a bed, had his clothes cut off him (even his jeans). They wrapped his hand to stop the bleeding and placed his fingers next to his hand and covered it with a towel. He sat there for 4 hours like that without any pain medication or ice on his severed fingers. He was then told he didn't need those fingers so there was no point sewing them back on. My husband asked for a second opinion so they bundled him into an ambulance and took him to St. Vincent's Private. The doctor there couldn't believe my husband hadn't had any pain relief or that the fingers weren't on ice. He reattached his fingers but couldn't guarantee how successful the operation would be as the fingers had been over 9hrs at this stage without ice.
I could go on forever about the excellent attention my husband received at St. Vincent's.
I wouldn't go to The Royal Melbourne even if my life depended on it.
