Food was good. Pleasant atmosphere. However we felt that service was quite rude. During the collection of empty plates, waiter actually had the plate went over the head of one of our guests instead of collecting it from the side.
We are asians visiting there with our guest who was a regular. I thought I was being sensitive, however everyone mentioned that they noticed the same misconduct after the dinner. Which I am sure that is a big misconduct of fine dining code of service. Very disappointing.
Nestled in the small Yarra Lane on the corner of Claremont Street, this steak restaurant is a reincarnation of the Steer Bar and Grill which was originally attached to the Olsen Hotel on nearby Chapel Street. The selection of steaks are impressive. We were shown the cuts of meat on a platter to help us choose. They were cooked to perfection. The wine list was also impressive with something for everyone. The restaurant seemed reasonably well staffed for a busy Friday night, but the service was a little slow and waiters could have been more attentive.
Atmosphere and food was amazing! Service is a hit and miss. Not the service you expect at that type of dining. We were served by 2 waiters through the night 1
Love it! Amazing service, fantastic wine list, beautiful steak.
Good steak, Good price, Good service.
The Restaurant was quiet for a Saturday night but we ate early. Not the best steak I've had in Melbourne but good value, I will go back.
Faultless service, pleasant atmosphere in this upmarket steak house. Choice of Angus and Wagyu cuts, oysters were fresh and flavourful. Would rate 4.5 stars if i could.
The only quibbles was the parsley garnish served with the beef tastes too strong on its own and the duck pate although nice on first tasting becomes too sickeningly rich very quickly (again both are personal preferences). Yes it's a bit pricey for a steak house but worth the experience.
The hidden gem in the alley. We really enjoy the steak here, and the quality and service never let us down. Highly recommended.
Great steak selection. They bring a board with all the different cuts out for you to choose. Explaining each different grade. It's pricey but Definitely worth a visit if you love steak in Melbourne. Waiters are friendly. They even gave us some free oysters which was a nice surprise. The steak is the highlight. Buttery tasty wagyu. Sides like Onion rings and their caprese salad were lovely too. Expect to spend $70 to $85 per head for a lovely meal.
Pretty good steak, very theatrical, they show you the different cuts they have raw, mine came out luke warm, dim lighting through out the restaurant.
Proper steak joint. I love coming for the nice dim ambience and high quality food and wine. Steak selection comes to the table on a big chopping board for you to pick the perfect cut.
Was there on Friday night and we waited 1 hour and 30 mins for entree and then mains came out 30 mins after. Not impressed at all! Won't be going back there again.
Great experience. Superb service, tasty appetizers (pork belly and crunchy cauliflower) and the steaks do not disappoint. The onion rings are presented in an eye-catching manner too.
