A fantastic retreat. I found myself completely relaxing here. There is a unforced simplicity in the space that I really appreciated. From the simple rooms and Tatami mats, to the elegance of the Japanese breakfast. It's well worth spending a day or two here.

Exquisite staff, setting, food, room and experience you could have if you love or are at least interested in Japanese culture. The staff were incredibly helpful and went the extra mile to give us the most authentic Japanese experience we cold have 90 minutes away from Melbourne. Catherine and Yu in particular helped me propose to my now fiancé that makes this already perfect stay, all the more memorable.
You all left an impression on my fiancé and I that will have us coming back for more on every excusable occasion we can find.

Beautiful setting amongst natural bushland in a valley with stream & walking trails. Authentic Japanese garden surrounds the boutique accommodation which attracts birdlife & kangaroos. Zen.

Fantastic experience, especially if you've never stayed at a ryokan before! 5min drive to Daylesford town centre, clean and comfortable rooms. Staff were all attentive and polite.

Staying one night here reminded me of a particular Ryokan I stayed at in Miyajima, Japan. In particular, the Japanese staff member (Yuka) did an exceptional job in providing a quality and authentic experience, with great attention to detail. There are many things to highly recommend about this place - the service, food and overall authenticity make it a unique and relaxing experience certain to exceed the expectations of all who are familiar (or not so familiar) with Japanese culture. The new owner, Catherine, is perfectly suited to her role - rest assured, it is in good hands.

Shizuka Ryokan was a great end of week getaway situated near Daylesford. Rooms are reminiscent of traditional Japanese-style inns with impeccable service from the staff to match. Short 5 minutes drive into the main part of town for shopping and eating makes this a very attractive location. Rooms are large, quiet and peaceful and supremely comfortable. Highly recommended base and stay in Daylesford
